Korean
Fuss-free meal at Hangawi Korean Food which serves homely Korean fare at food court pricing.
While the BBQ Chicken Set ($6.90) is on the sweeter side as customise to the local palate, their Spicy Doufu soup ($6.50) is a satisfying dish to have today. Egg tofu with meat and clams, might be small but you get the kick of spiciness. Grab a bowl of seaweed soup (self-serve) to go along.
The place gets quite packed during lunch and dinner. But the best part is Yat Ka Yan is just next door.
Slurp the cold noodles and have a slice of the Seafood Pancake. Slightly smaller than a 10ā pizza and unlike the traditional chives filled Korean pancakes, it is utterly crispy and not overly oily.
A refreshing bowl of Naengmyeon just hits the spot. This dish is quite popular during summer in Korea but isnāt commonly found in Singapore.
And Songaneās rendition of this popular summer dish in Korea is as close as the ones I had there. Mul-naengmyeon is made of slippery thin buckwheat noodles in vinegar-infused icy broth completed with meat slices, daikon, cucumber and hard-boiled egg.
ė°ė°įį ”į«įį ® Meat mandu & Kimchi Mandu aka Dumplings. Handmade from scratch, the steamed mandu is stuffed with minced pork and chive. Quite a sizeable one, and one of the closest place where you can get mandu similar to Myeongdong Kyoja.
The Half-Half Mandu ($11.80) is a good choice if you wish to have both the original and kimichi mandu. But they do have a single flavour at $9.80 for 5 pieces.
For those who prefer something spicy, Kkanpunggi aka Spicy Garlic Fried Chicken (from $32/small) can set your tongue on fire. Deliciously fried chicken, it is enrobed in a red spicy sauce filled with peppers and garlic.
One of the places to visit when Iām craving for Jjajangmyeon & Tangsuyuk.
If you donāt know, Tangsuyuk is the Korean version of sweet and sour pork. But unlike other places, their Tangsuyuk (from $24/small) is made of deep-fried pork stripes, lightly battered before being coated in a well-balanced sweet & sour sauce. Cut into bite-size, it is pretty addictive to munch on though itās recommended to eat them hot as it hardens when itās cool.
ėė° DAEBAK! SBCD Tofu House has an express outlet serving these comforting Soondubu Jjigae aka Korean Spicy Tofu Stew in a hawker centre.
Seafood Soon Tofu ($8) and Pork Soon Tofu ($7) are two popular choices. Made with silky smooth tofu (beans from Paju, South Korea) in the 10-ingredient secret soup, each bowl is served with rice, kimchi and a pack of seaweed. Portion is smaller and less tasty than SBCD, but at such wallet-friendly price whose complaining?
A hidden gem for Korean Fried Chicken. Run by Koreans, thereās a constant crowd picking up their Korean fried chicken.
Three flavours to choose from - Fried, Yongnyeom and Soy - you can have them as Half Chicken (from $17), Full Chicken (from $32), Boneless thighs or Wings (from $18) only. Soy sauce marinated chicken is thinly battered and super crunchy even when it turns cold.
And with the crazy wet weather, a bubbling pot of Army Stew (from $20/small) just hits the spot. Filled with spam, sausage, toppoki and more, their version is quite well-balanced and not too spicy that we finish the soup before we know it.

Lean into those Friday vibes as we end off the day having supper at Obba Jjajang and BBQ. Go for their BBQ Sets (range from $54) which include pork belly, marinated chicken and a wide variety of side dishes. Order and make some soju bomb to go along.
Donāt forget to order their Cheese Kimchi Jeon too. The traditional Korean Jeon aka pancake is made from slightly tangy-spicy kimchi and topped with plenty of melted mozzarella cheese. Just look at that gratifying cheese pull~
Eat to your heart content @imkimkoreanbbq! One of the Korean bbq that offers free-flow of 50+ variety of ingredients (from meat, vegetables, soup, even cooked dishes) at very affordable pricing.
A slight change in operation as it is now ala Minute Buffet, where they will serve it to your table after you indicate your selection via a slip. Must-try includes the black pepper chicken and honey marinated pork!

Fans of @chirchirsg will be delighted to know their signature crispy fried chicken is part of the new
Chirispicy Cheeseburger. Deep-fried crispy chicken thigh sandwiched between fluffy burger buns in special chilli-mayo dressing.
For those who canāt take spicy food, Chiriyaki Cheeseburger is a good alternative. Made of grilled minced chicken patty glazed with teriyaki sauce between pillowy burger buns.
