The noodles came pretty quickly once we were seated (the queue was rlly long btw). The soup was fragrant and noodles were good. But I had expected my onsen egg to be cracked... instead of coming shelled (yuh, cause i spent 5 mins trying to peel it uglily instead). Noodles would beat Ippudo, but I’d prefer Ippudo’s soup and ordering system.

Ordering for Ichiran starts from the queue. You are given a paper to circle, but here’s the catch, you gotta order the same thing at the “vending machine” too, if not, it’ll be a wrong order. I didnt get to order the correct things because of the pressing crowd behind me (super pressurizing okay cause everyone is tired of queuing and grumpy). Thank goodness I had extra order sheet for me to reorder. Would have appreciated if the staff standing at the vending machine offered more help.

Ordered a banana & chocolate pancake and also an egg benedicts. I didn’t really liked the souffle pancake. Thought it lacked taste... but I’m not sure if souffle pancakes are supposed to taste this way. Was surprised that the egg benedicts came on brioche instead (okay, I came thinking everything is on pancakes to begin with). The hollandaise sauce is good and brioche is surprisingly tasty, just slightly disappointed that the eggs were not runny at all. Would come back if there is no queue :)

Randomly found this soba shop near the hostel I’m staying and mum decided to go in.

As it was a really small eatery, the chef was very personalised in his service. Oh, ask for the English menu and just point to him what you want! :)

She ordered a Chicken Udon (¥580) and I had a Okinawa Soba (¥480). It didn’t take long for the noodles to be cooked and the chef didn’t just pass it to us over the counter, but personally brought it to our seats.

The soup was really good. One of the best soba soup I’ve had, that mum and I gulped down everything.

Chicken from Chicken Udon was so-so, nothing fantastic, but the pork in the Okinawa Soba... oh gosh. Although the fatty area looks... fatty.. as I personally don’t like fatty meat, it didn’t taste fatty at all and was really fragrant. I enjoyed savouring every bite of it.

The only sad part was... there was only 1 piece of the pork (I reckon its Agu Pork, Okinawa’s own specialty) and the handmade (I think) noodles were a tad hard. Would have appreciate softer noodles. But can’t complain, it was good enough.

Just saw on the website (https://www.plat-okinawa.jp/shop/jurian/) that it is possible to order the Okinawa Soba with more pieces of meat. Def would do that the next time!

My favourite food is hainan quey pneng (hainanese chicken rice) cause I hainanese. 🐥
