The stalls have generic names (like ‘Chicken Rice’, ‘Prawn Noodles’, ‘Yong Tau Foo’, ‘Cutlet Speciality’, ‘Fried Carrot Cake’, ‘Korean Cuisine’, etc), so that stall holders can be replaced without much drama. This also means they cannot induce brand name hawker stalls to come - a strategy adopted by Food Republic at its 3 food courts (ION Orchard, Wisma Atria, and Isetan). No wonder the quality of the food is at least one notch below the others. - the food at the ‘Indian Cuisine’ stall is downright horrific, and choice limited; avoid it! On top of that, seating place is more limited, AND must be shared with brands that are not in the food court (SaladStop, ToriQ), whereas these brands do have their own seats and tables at Tangs and ION, respectively. But, given the prime position of Takashimaya, at meal times this is always packed solid; more than once I have seen customers fights over seats. Along with the Lucky Plaza food court(s), this is probably the worst on Orchard Road, although the Far East malls are positioned to be more downmarket, so that is less of a surprise.
The mee pok here is ok, but nothing to scream about - sauce is not very pungent, and they don’t add lard!! Not very healthy but so delicious lah.
We used to come here (and its sister restaurant and neighbour Michelangelo) a lot when it first opened in the mid-90’s, then stopped when more exciting Italian dining options became available 10 years ago. For some reasons, Original Sin has always attracted a heavily-expat clientèle. It is interesting to note that the customer mix has changed from primarily European to primarily Indian, reflecting the changing expat community in Singapore. What has not changed? First, the décor, which now looks distinctly dated, down to the stains on the bench and chairs! Secondly, the food remains delicious, although one notices changes in the menu - maybe to accommodate new customer preferences? (They now serve veggie tandoori, and moved veggie burger out of the main menu). Prices are not high (especially the set lunch which is very good value). Service is knowledgeable and competent (unlike at the outlet next door). So, I guess we would go back here again!
Clean, nice place. The food is OK, but lacks identity: the menu is less diverse than at the original in Little India; more importantly, it is not refined dining (like Rang Mahal, Song of India, Yantra, Punjab Grill, etc) but due to its minuscule portions, is priced closer to those than to the popular Indian (like Samy’s, Banana Leaf, the original Muthu’s, etc). Most foodies would prefer one or the other, rather than the confused middle. Service is extremely slow and not pro-active at all, in fact much worse than at the humble Samy’s also at Dempsey.
The food is better than at some Peranakan protein restaurants. Penang rendang is scrumptious. Although I am a big fan of buah keluak, I find the version here too overwhelming, probably because it’s too ’pure’. Friendly and helpful service staff.

Green Dot donated lunch boxes for two days at a retreat we went to. Quite good and healthy (not oily), especially the brown nice was particularly tasty.
