I was contacted on Facebook by HoongMooi, the lady behind @BrunoiseSg, a home baker who specialises in low-sugar cakes and other bakes. She had seen on Burpple that I like banana loaves and wanted to bake me one. I was happy to try under the condition that I pay for it, which she agreed.
Well, I'm really pleased she reached out to me because her banana loaf is indeed very good. For chocolate lovers, the one pictured above has blobs of Nutella inside which makes it even lovelier!
After heating up the slices for a few minutes, the cake which is made with browned President brand butter, became extra fragrant with the scent of ripe bananas and chocolate. Texturally, it's still moist even though warming it in the oven gave it the subtlest of crunch on the exterior (something I personally enjoy). Alternatively, you can pop it in a microwave for 30 seconds if you want it soft throughout.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a delicious banana loaf. You can find out more on her company's Facebook page: "Brunoise.Sg".
Homemade by my dad's friend, this is what I'd consider a good "kueh salat". The top green "kaya" half is soft, smooth and rich, while the bottom half of glutinous rice (tinged naturally using blue pea flowers) is moist and chewy. Together, they are an ideal combination. I also like that the whole "kueh" isn't too sweet either.

I got to know about @thebakingrooster when I bought a jar of the brandās home-baked cookies at the #wheelersmarket, a monthly event held at @wheelersestate featuring homegrown creative talent and mostly locally produced goods.
Behind #thebakingrooster brand is the lovely Eileen who creates all the bakes. She believes in using only premium ingredients such as French butter, and using them in generous amounts because taste is paramount - I love that.
When I was checking out her stall at āWheelerās Marketā a few weekends ago, I got to meet her tall and handsome son. It turns out he has a thing for bacon and so do I. When he heard that, he insisted his mum bake me his favourite quiche (turns out this talented lady can rustle up much more than just very scrumptious Cookies with Oats & Raisins and Dark Chocolate Chips). So not only was I the lucky recipient of a gorgeous looking quiche last Friday but one that was rushed fresh-out-of-the-oven over.
And what a quiche it was! Captivatingly fragrant, it had a thin, slightly crumbly and buttery pastry crust and a smooth, custardy-soft filling held in place by the exorbitant amount of neatly-cut ingredients within. Every bite of this golden-yellow beauty was packed to the brim with pieces of bacon, mushrooms and sundried tomatoes plus tiny bits of other vegetables. It was, in my humble opinion, superb.
If you are interested to order this quiche or find out what else she makes, please check out Eileenās Instagram account: @thebakingrooster.
