Perfectly Peranakan

The food is good but price point is high. Take the beef rendang as an example. The small plate here, slightly larger than the saucer of chilli sauce costs $12!

Doesn't do much visually but this packed a punch. The one dish that totally hit the mark. Highly recommended.

Nothing really awesome that warrants $9. You are better off with cheaper versions at hawker centres or food courts.

The dish that many would consider their signature. It's pretty good but not fantastic. Found their tau pok a tad to hard and bland for my liking.

Their bobochacha is nothing to brag about with their less than sufficient ingredients. However, their durian pengat is close to a perfect 10.

Can't get over how cute the name is! PeraMakan. Good Peranakan food and generous portions at reasonable rate. Would recommend this for huge family gatherings and Ivin's for a simple family meal.

Finally got to try their laksa lemak! They only make it on weekends so despite being a regular customer (on weekdays) I never got to taste their laksa. The moment it arrived at the table, the colours really captured our attention. The prawns could be fresher, but the spicy coconut gravy was really tantalizing. It was a huge bowl but I managed to finish it. Of course, my father and mother constantly dipping into the bowl helped.

Laksa 2 days in a row! One of my personal favorite dishes. How does this compare to Ivin's? Ivins one has more spices and the curry is thicker, with a distinctive Peranakan flavour. This one is more local, and not so concentrated. Seems like substantial, however still tastes great. Do remember to add chilli! Not spicy enough for me!
