Homely Taiwan Porridge We have Taiwan Porridge quite regularly and Guzaoren is really one of the best places for Taiwan Porridge in Singapore. Its menu is unpretentious, wholesome, diverse and yet traditional too. Every dish is cooked to order. Instead of the usual minced meat patty and omelette dishes we always order, we tried the black pepper beef for a change. It was satisfyingly good!

Pig Organ Soup Pig organ soup with good servings of ingredients such as meatballs, tofu, lean meat, pork belly, pig stomach, liver and salted vegetables while the special order has additional small intestine & kidney. The soup is flavourful and peppery with a tinge of salty and sourness from the salted vegetables. Not forgetting their awesome and well-balanced chilli with hints of sourness yet not overly spicy to go along with the ingredients. Very satisfying to have these on a cool evening or rainy day. The steamed minced meat with chestnut and salted fish is a must-order. The meat was soft and tender with the saltiness from salted fish and crunchy bits of water chestnut. Signature Pig Organ Soup | $6.20 (L) Very comforting pig organ soup that was on the less peppery but sweeter side. Extremely flavourful with a good amount of ingredients, and affordably priced as well. It gets better knowing that the store opens til late, so you now have a new supper option for real comfort food on a bad night🥹 they also have very delightful classic sides, like steam minced meat with salted fish and pork trotters to pair with! Supper Place for Pig Organ Soup The small and big bowl goes for $4.70 and $6.70 respectively. The ingredients are way more than normal! Fried Tofu Roll ($6.90) I felt meh that it's quite dry for fried tofu and made roll to be so dry.

Salmon & Cheese Roll Salmon & Cheese Roll ($6.90) I felt that it's quite creamy, cheese covered up salmon and remind me smoked cheese top on the salmon sushi.

Crispy Chicken Roll Crispy Chicken Roll ($6.90) (add on - kimchi = $3) oh it's so good with spicy kimchi ($3) matched with chicken cutlet and lettuce according to my mum and sister.

Fantastic charsiew...did I say the charsiew is fantastic? I dare say this store has one of the best char siew in the whole of Singapore....forget about the roast duck (it's just average) and forget about the roasted pork (skin is crackling but so so fatty and oily), just head straight for the charsiew plus your choice of rice or noodles. The noodles are good but I prefer the rice as a blank canvas to the sweet saltiness of the charsiew and its sauce. For sides, the nai bai cai had an addictive sauce and the fried wontons was pretty filling and good. Otherwise, yeah a good place to satisfy your roast meat (read: charsiew) cravings although watch out for all the oil and fats.

Chicken Ramen ($6.90) I finally tried their ramen after trying their rice and bibimnoodle since my friend always order this most of time. But I find that their ramen was quite hard a bit and still got "q" texture. Chicken was quite tough texture tbh 😅

Hor Fun ($3)😋 You’ve read about the $3 fried rice in my previous posts, now let me introduce you to the Hor Fun from the same stall, which I found even tastier than their fried rice. The ingredients include fishcake, chicken, egg, and vegetables. The hor fun is first fried with soy sauce and dark sauce to achieve its distinct brown colour and infuse a bit of wok hei. It is then coated in a savoury, starchy, gooey, and eggy sauce that adds extra deliciousness and moistness to the noodles. The waiting time for them to cook this dish may be longer, but it is absolutely worth it. This plate of fried rice is suitable for small eaters. However, if you are a big eater, you should order at least two plates. It is tasty and savoury. Fried Rice You must be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes, grab a book to read or get some food from other stalls while ordering. But for a bowl of fried rice which cost you only $2.50, it definitely worth your waiting time.

Back again for 1 for 1 Came back again for the 1 for 1 and have the Truffle Tonkotsu Udon now. Really good and strong truffle taste

Grand Opening 1 for 1 Came here due to their grand Opening 1 for 1 and I like it. I had their signature Jiro Tonkotsu Udon while my friend had Sanuki Beef Onsen Egg Udon. The Jiro Tonkotsu Udon soup broth was fragrant and strong in flavour. However, after near the end, the soup got saltier. Overall however, still a good dish and would come back for their 1 for 1 sometime around this week to explore more dish

Once again, good Thai food! Back at my favourite Thai food restaurant and the food is still as good as I remembered! The Claypot Mama with Prawns and Meatball ($13.80) came generous with loads of fresh prawns and meatballs. The soup itself was not too spicy and sweet and savoury. Mixing the egg yolk in makes the soup even richer! The noodles were al dente as well! This is one hearty dish and perhaps the only problem is that the prawns were slightly undercooked. The Olive Fried Rice ($6.80) had always been consistently good, with the strong umami of the fermented olives coming through and that the rice was fluffy. Drizzle that lime juice all over for a refreshing citrus kick! The Fried Chicken with Honey Sauce ($8.80) stole the show for us. The chicken pieces were fried to perfection, with the exterior being very crispy and the chicken meat not dry. The honey sauce was splendid, due to its sweet and savoury nature that got us putting it on our rice as well! This has been our go-to Thai food restaurant for some time and will continue to be 😍

Pineapple fried rice You won’t know what hit your taste buds till the time you try this. The lightly burnt flavour is what I loved most. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

#01-023: Xiang Fang Wanton Noodles A solid spot for wanton noodles. The star here is the dish itself: springy noodles coated in a rich, savory sauce elevated by a subtly spicy chili that adds depth without overpowering. The wantons are tender and well-executed, avoiding any rubbery texture. While the char siew is nothing really special.

Leng Kee’s fried oyster is a must-order for me whenever I visited Bukit Timah Food Centre. The tradition continues, even after the stall moves to the interim market. White Beehoon Back at the Interim Bukit Timah Market & Food Centre! This is the only wet beehoon stall in this market! Got the sotong and clam beehoon ($6.80). It tastes almost like thr white beehoon from the White Restaurant, but this has much more wok hei taste!

Bento Duck Rice ($7) The duck rice is not bad but i find it abit gimmicky. The yam rice was ok. It was sprinkled with fried garlic so got crunchy texture. The duck meat was abit tough. The ajitama was done well even though doesnt look nice. You can also buy their normal duck rice at $5.

Duck Rice (SGD $5) @ Jin Ji Teochew Braised Duck & Kway Chap 金记潮州卤鸭. Established since 1980 and now run by 2nd generation owner Melvin Chew (who also co-founded the 'Hawkers United Dabao' group to support fellow hawkers during the pandemic), they offer both traditional and modern takes on the dish. . The traditional version has soft steamed tender yam / taro chunks and soy braising gravy infused with the fluffy rice, resulting in a earthy sweet savoury flavour. . The braised duck is tender with a light chew, with the skin and fat having a light bounce, and pleasant meaty savoury salty earthy flavour. .
