Kia Ora! The New Zealand Food Fair is back and held at Plaza Singapura Atrium (level 1) for a week long till this Sunday 24 May 2015. You can enjoy free sampling at the fair and take advantage of the special discounted products/prices.

Had some nutritious cage-free eggs from the barn hens that were naturally multigrain fed and full of goodness.

You can discover a wide selection of speciality products, fresh seasonal food and beverages brought in specially from New Zealand. Just walked away with 3 shopping bags and I might just come back for more.

If you think you can't make it for the food fair, don't worry as the speciality products will be up on the shelves of Cold Storage stores islandwide.

Creamy rich pork bone broth that is cooked over high heat to extract the essence of meat and bones. This savoury broth complements the thin, firm and straight Hakata noodles, served with an onsen egg, yakibuta, japanese leeks, bamboo shoots and vegetables.

Sometimes I only eat desserts and drink coffee for lunch. The Peanut Butter Stack at Joe & Dough is insanely good. So thick and rich, but not overly sweet, it really gives Starbucks a good run for their money.

Diners can stand a chance to win Apple iPhone 6+ (4 mobile phones to be won) and receive cash vouchers when they order the new Yoruton ramen at Chabuton.

The new ramen offers five levels of spiciness to complement the local taste buds, starting from level 1 that's suitable for those with a low tolerance for spicy food and up to level 5 for the fiery warriors.

Chabuton's Yoruton ramen debuts today for a limited period till 31 July 2015. Read on the blog for details on how to win the iPhone 6+.

Wanted to try the Sweet Potato Bingsu but they ran out of it, so here's Green Tea Bingsu instead. Took only one minute to take photo, but the shaved ice and ice cream melted too fast.

Love the earthy taste of green tea, but after adding the condensed milk, I found that it was a little too sweet including the matcha ice cream as well.

It's almost that time of the year again on the Chinese culinary calendar where you can savour rice dumplings from plenty of restaurants during the Dragonboat Festival.

Starting from today 18 May till 20 June 2015, you can rediscover Singapore's best-loved flavours with Park Palace's new rice dumplings such as the Chilli Crab, Chicken Rice (my fave) and this local Bak Kut Teh dumpling featuring a whole pork rib in the glutinous rice and eaten with a bowl bak kut teh.

All dumplings ($8.80-$18.80) are available for dine-in, and takeaway. Full details can be found on the web http://www.alainlicious.com/2015/05/park-palace-grand-park-city-hall.html

The iconic Gan Xiang Crab from the local seafood specialist Diamond Kitchen who has been satisfying the palates of many crustacean lovers with its myriad of skilfully prepared live seafood dishes and comforting home-style Chinese fare since 2013.

The restaurant is always crowded with its loyal following, reservations need to be made a few weeks in advance before you can secure a seat. Finally, some good news for the West as Diamond Kitchen has found a second home in Science Park I, boasting a brand new space and larger seating capacity than its first outlet. You actually don't have to wait that long to make reservation at this new outlet.

Corn Nachos piled with house smoked pulled pork and drizzled with mozzarella cheese, olives and chopped chives baked to perfection.

For $13 as a side, the hearty portion might be overly generous. Would recommend 2-3 person to share with your mains.

Second consecutive night having Shabu Shabu Shiokness. Tried the RamenPlay Beef Shabu Shabu with Kimchi soup at only $14.90++ per set. Prefer the Kimchi taste to be stronger but the clear soup came out a winner.

It was light on the palate yet flavorful enough with an abundance of vegetables, tofu and three kinds of mushrooms served with a raw egg, sesame sauce, pickles and a choice of chewy udon or Niigata Koshihikari rice imported from Japan.

This is madness, can't believe that it's so affordable. The Shabu Shabu set is currently available only at NEX, Jem, Velocity, BreadTalk IHQ (after 5pm) and will be introduced at Bedok Mall by June 2015.
