What you see is what you get.
I was looking for a solid hollandaise and this definitely delivered a buttery BUTTERY version.
Minus the usual distinct hint of tang (either from the vinegar or citrus) would I have preferred having this aspect even though I did love butters?

Nuff said.

If you can down that same crispy McDonald’s shoestring Fries, this truffle version is definitely a flavour bomb you’ll celebrate
Wow, death by chocolate is truly enpointe a name for this dish.
But it was every mouthful of indulgent pleasure. Not overly sweet, the warm dense sponge cake in 2 different layers of chocolate density (silky liquid lava pool + an even thicker gooier fudge) is so RICH so.. ENJOYABLE.
Medium -to- dark chocolate definitely helps ensure your palate doesn’t go into overload.
That icy vanilla ice cream was also so chock full of vanilla richness. Speckled generously with the black spots 😍 wish it was 2 larger scoops to prolong that hot/cold titillation

Definitely share it between 3-4 folks. Extremely rich
SILKY STICKY GELATO
chocolatey hazelnut is a level of mamma Mia richness
But it’s really pricey + I thought the chocolate still didn’t quite hit bliss point in terms of depth (ie the quality of the cacao/ darkness of it used wasn’t quite there. Using dark gallery as a point of reference)

I’ve heard many throwing flak on tong heng but I love the flake in the crust. This crust right here is like a nice cross between the buttery tart and fluffy flaked pastry ☺️
Enjoyable but doesn’t crumble too easily and quickly.
And the CREAMY centre ⭐️

$1.90... for a stellar piece of sweet pastry.. isn’t too bad. I think we’re just used to cheap prices of traditional bakes..
But I mean.. look at that famous Hong Kong egg tart at taka. That is great too but so much pricier!!
Holding some very traditional Chinese pastries.
Unbelievable branding move :)) 👍🏻👍🏻
I say... just get the normal toast.
I find this extra crispy version leaves a really toast to fluffy bread ratio. Which just simply mean there’s a very small proportion of the fluffy spongy bread bit left in a bite.
It overall felt very dry and scratchy a bite to take.
Kaya and the slab of butter was great though.

It’s no longer $15. And pardon my very cheeky picture of the taunting duck peeking at me during my bus ride home. Hahaha
From the corner of my eye, it was creepy too.
But that was all my photographing got as far as I know cos I didn’t expect this $16 duck to be anything worth reviewing.
WRONG WAS I.
Cinnamon, star anise, salty scents permeated the entire duck beautifully. Beware of the ribs area, the heavy cinnamon rub got ‘spicy’ some. 👅
The meat was soft and supple (not dried out at all)! Wonderful :)
9/10 (for value too)
Where else can you find such prices for stellar xiaolongbao?
I mean the skin is thin and the dumpling is JUICY 👏🏻👏🏻
7.5/10 for flavour (it’s a lighter palate on the sweeter side, like Shanghai styled XLB)
9/10 for value!!
Biting into the chewy fresh dough, the filling is substantial, it’s Juicy, there’s such a nice scent of the chives. If anything, perhaps I found the marinate of the meat a little too sweet?
Gets cloying after a while with the rich meat juices.

These crispy wafers at the bottom of the freshly made dumplings

All that for $4.50
I saw this on toggle’s cheap cheap vs atas and at once was intrigued by how peranakan food can exist in the Hawker space.
I mean.. ALL THAT WORK + the unending list of ingredients involved and 🙌🏻🙌🏻 hands in the air, cos it all SHONE THROUGH.
I felt so humbled for slighting this sloppy looking plate for the brief second. The veggie curry really was LEMAK. It was a tad too salty on its own but that stubborn coconut and mix of spice just won’t leave your mouth without assaulting your tastebuds. The onions/gingers in the veggie rempah were like the greatest showman.
Pungently good and it wasn’t like they used the same rempah in every dish. Cos the chicken curry tasted different than the veggie curry. The chicken curry was a lot more dilute but that piece of chicken leg as you can see is falling apart soft.
Don’t leave without having the omelette! Super thick, oily, fluffy, fragrant ❤️
