Siew Mai and Chee Cheong Fun Set.
This BBQ Steamboat Buffet located at Satay by the Bay had gained its Halal Certification. There was a wide variety ranging from seafood to meat and vegetables. Prices were reasonable and its location was accessible too. After a hearty meal, you can head over to Marina Barrage which was just a stroll away from the eatery.
Halia โ Malay for ginger โ is located in the one-hectare Ginger Garden of the Singapore Botanic Gardens. The use of ginger is distinctly found in their dishes. Paperbag oven-baked halibut fillet ($33) - with soy and ginger broth, sesame Japanese rice, wakame, wasabi aioli, ginger flower sambal. The fish was superb. Smooth, creamy and very fresh. The brilliant mix of miron sake with the ginger broth was magnificent. The broth went very well with the rice. Halia's Singapore style chilli crab spaghettini ($26) - in spicy, sweet and tangy sauce. It came with generous chunks of crab in my favourite chilli crab sauce. It was very palatable and tasty. Die die must have chocolate ($10) - chocolate element and raspberry. The chocolate pieces were perfect and not overly sweet, while the raspberry added a nice tang to the dish.
Duck Confit Pasta ($22) - The tagliatelle pasta was freshly made and served in hazelnut cream with sautรฉed spinach. Felt the duck taste was quite overpowering, but the cream that went with the pasta was really good.
Honey Soy Fried Chicken ($12) - with pickled red onions. Crispy well seasoned boneless chicken paired with a honey drizzle. Braised Chicken Leg ($23) - with potato purรฉe, carrot, button mushroom, haricot vert. This was one comfort food! The chicken was tender and tasted so good with the sauce that came with it. South Union Park is a cafe that gives a relaxed vibe as it is located away from the city. Love the quiet environment and it is a cafe without any gst or service charge.
Cheese Egg Tart was light and crumbly, however I find the cheese flavor not distinctive enough.
2 pcs classic chicken and 3 pcs shrimps in a crunchy golden batter, drenched in savory sweet golden salted egg sauce and topped with curry leaves and chilli padi. Served with signature golden fries and crumbs.
Angus Tenderloin ($36) - Tender beef fillet with red wine jus, truffle scented mash. Crispy Fries ($9) - With parsley and parmesan cheese. Homemade Apple Crumble ($12) - With a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
This was just plain goodness! I ordered takeaway and I was sure if this was eaten there straight away, it would be even tastier. The rice was drenched in gooey spicy curry gravy. The fried pork chop was crispy and addictive. The char siew was tender and sweet. My favorite was the lou ba. It had the melt in the mouth texture and was very flavorful. There was a distinct herbal taste which was so fragrant! I would come back to have this curry rice again :)
I liked the crunch of the outer batter, which I would dip in the tasty gravy. The spices made the chicken very flavorful and the heat was just right.
Loved the Sous Vide Egg with Hash and Crispy Soft Shell Crab Burger!
