Definitely wasn't expecting this long a wait on a weekday at 3PM.
Reason? It all started with the guy taking orders. He gave us a number tag different from the order number he written down in their system. It was off-peak hours and we were the 3rd group of customers. Those before us received their fried rice. And then the many groups after us all got theirs too. Our order number never got called.

When we enquired at the counter, another guy asked for our order tag, looked at their order sheet, and then nonchalantly said they must have gotten our order number wrong. I informed him we had ordered 25 mins ago, long before the other groups arrived. There was no apology. Just a shrug.

REMARKS:
- objectively speaking, yes the fried rice, the pork chop, the chilli were all good. Really good. On par with DTF.

WILL WE RETURN? No, because of the bad service recovery.

PRICE:

WAITING TIME: About 5 min on a weekday 3PM

REMARKS:
- Will not order YouTiao again cos it's all soft. Prefer the fried kind, still intact as a pair.
- My favourite meatball porridge really. Those handmade meatballs are just perfect for someone like me who doesn't like the usual instant frozen meatballs
- Bonus points for the free flow sesame oil and fried shallots.

PRICE: $5 for the signature bowl. $2 for canned drink (😮)

WAITING TIME: We were the only customers on a weekday at 4.15pm so the food came really fast.

REMARKS:
- We decided to have 2 x plain kway chap and 1 plate of pork belly next time, instead of 2 Signature bowls. Cos the pork belly is really good compared to the meat and intestines.
- I don't like the sausage cos there are very fine hard bits that I couldnt bite through.

WILL WE RETURN? Yes if we are in the area. But will not make a deliberate trip here just for this.

WAITING TIME: 20 minutes on a weekday 3.15PM. Ridiculously slow and inefficient.

REMARKS:
- Food does not justify waiting time
- Objectively speaking, we did not exactly love the two different bowls of noodles we had here

WAITING TIME: What waiting time? Everything came within 5 minutes. Even the cooked dishes. We were seriously amazed.

REMARKS:
- Soup was totally bland at the start, I had to add soya sauce into my own bowl of soup
- Soup became really pretty salty towards the end
- Standard old-school steamboat ingredients. None of that fancy fish glue, prawn glue and whatnot.
- The youngsters at our table liked the Hainanese pork chop, the older folks not so
- Loved the chicken rice
- The omelette reminds me of pancake in a good way. Hated the bittergourd though.
- HOT AND SWEATY cos we were seated near the kitchen. There was no fan nor aircon near us. NEED to pick our own tables next time instead of getting assigned to such a bad table.

SPICINESS LEVEL:
Beyond the usual three levels of spiciness, they offer 'Super Hot 变态辣'. Ordered this. Got warned of its hotness. Still ordered this level because recently the 大辣 at other MLXG shops have been FAILING me.

It came full of dried chillies and chill padis and chilli seeds.

Definitely hot. I was impressed and happy.

It was however not numbing and lacks fragrance because there was no peppercorn. Pity.

I finished the bowl like a warrior. That night and the next morning I had a burning stomach and made trips to the toilet.

WILL WE RETURN?
Yes. HA HA HA.

REMARKS:
- Small but cosy. Limited indoor and outdoor seats.
- We like that the coffee here is not too acidic
- I don't take milk very well but was perfectly ok with the Magic here. Surprisingly!
- Friendly staff

SPICINESS: Drew a huge circle with two hands when I ordered 大辣. But it was hardly spicy. No peppercorns. More like 不麻不辣锅.

REMARKS:
- Filling enough for one at this price
- I like that mushrooms are charged at $1 per portion here. Can be expensive at other MLXG shops.
- I like that the fake fish maw thingy is charged under meats at $2 per portion. Still scarred by that one other MLXG shop that dared charge it as seafood, by the weight.
- Pork belly is nice
- Portions are okay. Didn't feel shortchanged.

PRICE: $7 for Chicken Curry + Prata Set

WAITING TIME: No queue but more than 5 minutes on a weekday night past 8.30PM

REMARKS:
- Instant Prata, but still crispy
- Curry is very very mild..Not spicy.
- Very generous with the chicken and potato

PRICE: $2.50

WAITING TIME: Ordered at 11.30pm on a weekday. Waited pretty long. More than 15 minutes.

REMARKS:
- Nubbadddd!!!!
- For me, a good bom prata has to be oozing with sweetness in every bite. This, was pretty close.
- The previous Indian Muslim stall closed down and this popped up soon after. Not bad but shorthanded so waiting time is long.

WAITING TIME: No queue at 8PM on Saturday. Food arrived very fast. 5 minutes or so.

REMARKS:
- Ordered the sesame chicken countless times from both outlets. It's never failed us.
- First time ordering the qing long veggie. Loved it! This price for this somewhat rare veg is such a steal! There are only so few veggies that I like, and this is now added to my very exclusive list.

PRICE: $14 incl. of 2 bowls of porridge, 1 bowl of rice
Good enough for two adults

WAITING TIME: 2nd in queue when we reached at 9pm on a Tuesday. Ordered and collected around less than 5 minutes later.

REMARKS:
Every dish we ordered was good. Nothing to complain.
