When they tell you the King Prawn Pasta is spicy, you better believe it. I was not expecting this to be that spicy (the instantaneous kind that makes your scalp sweat) but man it was soooo good! Paired it with their Flying Monkeys Smashbomb IPA β€” so so good and hoppy 😍 They have happy hour prices later in the night (10pm-midnight) β€” perfect for post-dinner drinks!

A playful vegetarian twist on the usual ceviche that you see in restaurants. Replacing the usual raw fish as the base, Chef Tim at Pyxiemoss uses fresh sea coconuts instead. Toss the ingredients and add a splash of lime. The result? A VERY tasty "salsa" dip that goes well with the crunchy chips on the side that your friends would gladly chow down on. Best part? It's only $8!!! 😳😱

Also worth a mention is the pineapple-infused chilli on the side β€” a little goes a long way! SPICYYYY but shiok πŸ‘πŸ»

Was looking to have something light for lunch and I settled for the tomato soup from the new Marks and Spencer Cafe, situated at the lobby of Wheelock Place (near to the taxi stand). Doesn't look like much but I was pleasantly surprised it was so flavourful! Strong tomato purΓ©e with little chunks of vine tomatoes in it, no watered down soups here πŸ‘πŸ» Some of the items sold at the cafe can be bought at the food hall nearby, including this tomato soup β€” I've got a small stockpile of this at home now! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Will be back to try their afternoon tea sets with my girlfriends soon β€” $29.90 for sandwiches, scones and two pots of tea ☺️

I'm usually not a fan of spicy soups, but this is definitely worth trying! The broth is so flavourful and intense, EPIC 😍 Love at first slurp. There isn't a lot of seats (two tables of four, one long table of eight and bar seats) so best to come in small groups or make reservations prior. Also, come for the lunch sets where you can get the pho bowls (this included) and ONE spring roll for $12. #burpplecheapNgood

Gotta love this bento set from Kyoaji, a newly opened Japanese restaurant on the fourth floor of The Centrepoint. The space may seem a little too upscale to have lunch at, but prices are kept VERY reasonable. The Bara Chirashi set ($16) is the cheapest while the most expensive item on the lunch set is this Bento β€” $35 for a decent size slab of tasty unagi, freshly fried tempura with light-as-air batter, five pieces of sashimi (two salmon, two tuna and one prawn), salad, miso soup, rice, chawanmushi and dessert.

Special mention goes to the chawanmushi β€” these people here are dead serious about their egg, there's like a whole page on the menu dedicated to the different kinds of chawanmushi available. It's got this thin gelatinous layer on the top which is supposed to make the egg taste smoother β€” and it really does! SLIDES right down your throat β€” one of the best chawanmushi's i've had πŸ‘πŸ»β˜ΊοΈ

I'm not usually a fan of cereal oats prawns but these are SO TASTY!!! I love how they're so generous with their cereal (I can literally have large spoonfuls of it)! Definitely a must try dish when you're here!!

Yay Muji Cafe's got a second outlet that's much closer to my workplace (I really hope they open one in the west!) and they have more offerings! The basic set (select Japanese or western style) comes with a carb (white rice or bread), soup (miso or cream of pumpkin and carrot), one side (hijiki salad or onsen egg) and a choice of one cold deli. The portion is just enough for lunch, but might be too little to pass as dinner...at least for me >.

I usually wouldn't go for ramen in foodcourts but this stall is a definite must try! Pork broth is creamy, flavourful and rich β€” you'd want to slurp it all up!!! I quite like the thin noodles, just the right portion to fill you up and it's made fresh daily in the shop! I'd highly recommend you to get the ramen deluxe ($8.90), where else can you find FIVE freaking pieces of melt-in-your-mouth chashu for under $10?!

My favourite braised duck rice stall in Bukit Batok! I've been eating this since I was young and the taste hasn't changed a bit (but the price has πŸ˜…). I usually get the regular duck rice ($3) but I just couldn't resist this duck rice set ($4) that comes with braised peanuts, egg and tau kwa! YUM! Kway chap fans, I heard his Kway chap is pretty popular too β€” worth a try if you're in the area!

P.S. His yam rice is also amazing, sells out right after lunch! My packet looks like it's yam rice right? But no, it's just white rice drenched in a whole lot of gravy. Shiok.

This is the perfect healthy-ish meal for those who require a bit more proteins and carbs in their diet. Love the beef ribs (tastes like Yoshinoya's thin slices of beef) and the flavourful kimchi and tomato salsa! Best to mix everything together like how you would with a bibimbap! Only wished I left office earlier to snag a bowl of the cilantro lime rice :(
