Breakfast Sammy ($12)
.
My perfect kind of breakfast sando @koriosg made with brioche and spam wedged with generous amount of egg mayo and cheese. One is definitely filling enough to qualify as a heavy breakfast.

Boiler’s Duo Plus ($89 for 2pax)
.
Craving seafood in a bag so tried @theboilersg ‘s seafood in a bag for 2 seasoned with their special “The Works (mild)” sauce thats mildly spicy and rather galicky. Loved the plump shellfish bursting with the umami juices and the sauce. Contents included crab, clams, mussels, corn, sausages and 2 fried buns. We also added a side of onion rings thats just superb when used to mop up the sauce. We did feel that the crab meat was a tad mushy but maybe it’s due to the takeaway.

The Academics Breakfast ($26)
.
Satisfying breakfast @thecoffeeacademicssg before bidding goodbye to dining out. Especially enjoyed the sausage and maple bacon.

Jawa ($6)
.
Latte Macchiato with gula jawa sprinkled on top @thecoffeeacademicssg . Rich smooth velvety coffee with a hint of sweetness.

Wanton Noodles ($5.50)
.
@engswantannoodle , always a confusion with 2 establishments using the same name but different coloured bowls. This green bowl version has al dente noodles seasoned perfectly. The char siew is also legit and not just dyed red meat. Wantons are great too, especially the fried version side order ($3.50) which boasts a light crispy skin. The super hot chilli was at an acceptable level even though i added a generous dose into my bowl.

DIY Popiah Set ($$19.80)
.
For the fun of having a popiah party without the hassle of prep and cleaning up, have a go @goodchancerestaurant . The stewed radish quantity was generous along with the other usual toppings. However, with each popiah working out to be $3+ and missing some luxe ingredients like chinese sausage and shrimps (which are available with additional charges) this popiah didn’t really manage to satiate my craving. The restaurant had a few good dishes but exuded a rather touristy vibe.

Golden Poached Rice ($16.80)
.
Excuse the ugly delicious shot of this crazy delicious poached rice @yunnanssg . A new item not found on the menu, this rice has so much going on in terms of depth and flavour. Loving the seafood and the crispy rice bits simmering in the stock full of prawny goodness.

Teochew Porridge Buffet ($12.90)
.
One of the few teochew porridge buffets and the wide selection of dishes here really tantalizes the tastebuds. Most of the items are of decent quality and I especially enjoy the roast chicken, chicken feet and steamed fish belly. Drinks and dessert are also included in the buffet so it is really a worthwhile indulgence!

Chill weekend vibes @doubleup.coffee sipping on a cup of cold brew tea with an orange aroma. Space is simple and lovely.

Fried Prawn Noodle
.
Return visit after a long while to @dashijiabigprawnmee . Loved this even before it went up on food king but sadly, I have to say that it has somewhat lost some of its charm. The wokhei is no longer as impressive and the prawns while huge are overcooked. Hope it was just an off day.

Double Scoop ($6.70)
.
Another BOP-esque concept @sweetcheeks.sg so went for the full experience by ordering their honey chrysanthemum with cacao nibs and hazelnut with nutella swirl. Loved the refreshing taste of the chrysanthemum but felt that the nutella was lacking in the hazelnut.

Charred Scallops and Smoked Broth ($18)
.
New launch seasonal dish @sidewayssg featuring charred scallops sitting in that awesome sauce that has been reducing in the oven for hours and made with the scallop’s gonad for that rich umami taste of the sea. Pair it with the sourdough bread that’s baked fresh in-house, this is really a match made in heaven. We mopped up every drop of the sauce before letting it out of sight. Not forgetting that charred scallops which was the icing on the bread to complete this dish.
.
Thanks @burpple for the #burppleeatup and @sidewayssg for hosting this meal.
