Bouchot Mussels ($36 for 500gm)
.
The new kid on the block thats flexing ‘em mussels @btmmusselsandbar and trending as one of the goto places on #burpplebeyond so for $36, you get 1kg worth of french mussels done 2 ways served with a basket of crispy golden fries I couldn’t help dunking into the Thailandaises creamy gravy that’s zesty and tangy. There’s a total of 7 cooking styles and I’m delighted with the thai style. Also a must is to request for their thai mayo dip to go with the fries. So addictive we asked for a refill. Overall the mussels were fresh, sweet and succulent although I must admit preferring the local larger and plumper variant.
Off the Bone ($16)
.
Ham & cheese crepe @gathershop.co topped with a runny egg for eggporn. Tastes great and executed with perfection. Good for the gram but lacking for the tummy especially at that price point. Probably need to fuel the rent at raffles hotel I Gather.
Barramundi Poke Salad Bowl ($18)
.
New launch lunch bowls @sidewayssg featuring locally sourced barramundi seasoned with sesame oil, guac, grilled eggplant, garden veg and cauliflower rice topped with a poached egg. Only premium ingredients and healthier choices are used for this creation. I’m in love with the barramundi. Not fishy and a sweet slightly springy texture. A perfect way of indulging during lunch without feeling the guilt.

Thanks @burpple for the #burppleeatup and @sidewayssg for hosting this meal.
Fried Spring Chicken with Crispy Fried Garlic ($13.90)
.
Limited time special from Basil Thai Kitchen located at kallang wave mall. The chicken was a tad dry but went decently well with the accompanying crispy fried thai garlic.
Vanilla Flan Danish ($5)
Iced Mocha ($7)
.
Reopened @brotherbird_coffeehouse now serves coffee and desserts in a chill laidback space. Perfect for unwinding the weekend away. Mocha is refreshing and danish is not too sweet. Loving the vibes here
Black Milk Tea with Creme Brûlée ($6.50)
.
This was a clear popular choice @machimachi_singapore as the group before me placed a giant order of this. So glad I chose right (or not). Really quite disappointed overall. The creme brulee was like a heavy pudding that just didn’t go with the milk tea. Not to mention after it started sinking into the milk tea, the whole experience was just not very palatable. Unlike cream cheese, sipping this directly from the cup also didn’t make this taste any better.
Bijin Nabe ($25/pax)
.
The OG bijin nabe @tsukadanojosg_bijinnabe I’ve been having since time immemorial. Price has remain stagnant for as far as I can recall but they have undergone numerous menu changes. Still quite value for money and it is always a treat to be promoted on their loyalty card literally. We received a complimentary chicken nanban for the promotion to President and CEO 😂. Collagen soup is rich and addictive and the beauty noodles is always a treat to slurp up.
Signature Souffle Pancake ($20.50)
.
This is probably the best and prettiest souffle pancake I have eaten. Everything was just the right amount of proportion. Souffle pancake is airy and fluffy like a pillow drenched in aromatic vanilla whipped cream. Skip the queue at a certain chainy souffle pancake cafe and just head over here for this. I love how after having this, I don’t get a sugar overload. The granola and mixed berries also help to cut any heaviness from the pancake.
.
Thanks @burpple for this #burppleeatup and @walkingonsunshine.sg for hosting this meal.
Perilla Flavoured Frogs ($39.80)
.
Missing this addictive tray of froggy goodness @wahkungfu_sg . The frog meat is first fried then left to simmer in the flavourful umami laden gravy elevated by the perilla leaves resulting in a tender texture with a thin crusty exterior. The soupy gravy was both slurpworthy and went well drizzled on rice. Thankfully, they offered free soup top-up! We opted for the mildly spicy version so that we could really taste the dish and not need to down liquids and fill ourselves up too quickly. Special mention also to the lamb skewers ($1.20/ea min 4 sticks per order). It was so good we ordered a 2nd portion in a flash. Prices here is a bit on the high side though.
Your Mango Super Pudding ($10.90)
.
For serious mango and thai dessert lovers, @yenlyyourssingapore is an easy choice. The mango super pudding came served with freshly sliced thai mango, a scoop of warm sticky rice drizzled with coconut milk and topped with yellow bean crisps and a super loaded mango pudding topped with mango ice cream. Forget nata de coco, the mango pudding was packed with fresh mango chunks instead. Overall a very satisfying choice dessert.
Softshell Crab Katsu ($22)
.
Absolutely the must order @parkbenchdeli ‘s collab with Handsome Chinos available only for today. Katsu fried to crispy perfection topped with seaweed tartar and slaw sandwiched between a fluffy bun. Queue’s way shorter than usual so thats a plus to come!
Mummy’s Curry Chicken ($5.80)
.
Homely comfort food from @yang_coffee_and_toast . Choose to have your curry with rice or 6 pieces of mini youtiao. I like how the chicken is not just portions of chicken wings like some other coffee and toast places but actual chicken chunks. Curry was thick and lemak while youtiao went so well being dunked into the delicious gravy. For cheat day lunches!
