Fans of chocolate would agree this mocha is a strong contender of hot chocolate and go very well with green tea croissant. Apternatively you could pair this with Pain Au Chocolat to get the rich cocoa effect. ๐๐ซ
This item used to be our weekly regular treat (from their Tangs outlet) before we embark on a healthy diet journey and stop eating croissants. It's like our first croissant crush! ๐คฉ The best thing about their almond croissant is that it keeps croissant shape in tact (no flat but really tout). The almond filling is more than enough to make it to the dessert. Mind you this is our breaky on an off day! ๐คญ๐ฅ
Crusty with almond coated skin and soft pillowy body with enough green tea filling. We just try the green tea version for the first time as we normally go for almond croissant. ๐ต
Delicate flavor of Hanasaki ๐ฆ on top of Japanese rice with pickled ginger, soy sauce and wasabi. It is simple yet delicious. Not sure if this a regular set but it's well worth the price.๐
โ๏ธ Cool down a heaty day with this Sakura Mochi set. It is a value set that combines 2 styles of sakura mochi. The ones with sakura blooms topping are slightly salty at the center and filled with pink mochi cream. The translucent pink mochi skins have jelly-like texture making these mochis pretty cooling.๐๐
.
Never doubt yourself & also give another style (mochi wrapped with pickled sakura leaf) a try. The pickled leaves lends its earthy tone to the usual japanese mochi with red bean paste. You will be hooked in no time. ๐ Fans of cherry blossom season only have to choose between blooms VS. leaves to get the taste of Spring season.๐ฎ #kansaidessert
๐ค Daifuku is a subset of Mochi : daifuku has red bean paste filling (anko/tsubuan from adzuki beans) whereas mochi filling could be any fillings or none at all!
๐Buying Tips๐ A green mugwort daifuku (sold at chateraise) has middle hole (not that someone poke it). This is in contrast to the white mochi one.
๐ฒ Having this Hokkien version side by side with Nyonya rice dumpling, I must admit that I prefer the flavor of this Hokkien one. The rice part is darker and there is a salted egg. Salted egg is always a must-have (be it a rice dumpling or a mooncake)๐คฉ it's a soul of a party!! ๐บ๐ chestnut, mushroom and braised pork belly are all mixed in the fillings. We just can't wait to try the Teochew version.๐ค๐ * Tips * if you buy the takeaway version like us, don't steam too long as the rice part could turn soggy. Check how the dumpling looks inside the leaf and remove the rope before steaming (red rope for nyonya, blue rope for hokkien)
๐ B4 (Takashimaya Food Hall) in front of DonQ
๐ The #1 rice dumpling has opened their pop up at B4 Takashimaya for the Dragon Boat Festival (until 22 June). We heard about this brand for some time and it didn't take us long to decide if we should grab one. The original store is on Joo Chiat Road but we heard from the shopkeeper they are no longer in the East. Gonna do that fact check later! It's dumpling time!! this mini nyonya rice dumpling comes in good size as we want to try their variety. ๐
.
The quantity of fillings VS. rice dumpling are in good proportion. It contains minced pork belly (seasoned well with spice blend) and winter melon. Since we actually like our rice grainy (tough โค๏ธโ๐ฅ we know), the rice dumpling can come across as a bit too soft. Yet it would be just nice for those looking to have an easy bite.๐
Chance upon this healthy cutesy item in the Donki near our hood. We couldn't help but share with y'all that cheap & good food still exists! โบ๏ธ Since Hijiki seaweed needs to be cooked properly before consumption, we'd better leave it to the pro (Donki in this case)๐ Not only Hijiki mixed with rice but also other 5 ingredients (we spot edamame & shitake ๐ and will leave the rest to you! ๐ The whole rice is wrapped with deep-fried tofu pouches (Aburaage) . The item is packed with goodies and super yummy for both vegetarians & non-vegetarians.
This is our go-to set whenever we visit Nando's. We couldn't help but notice the shrinkflation from this dish. The grilled veggies (broccolis, carrots, capsicums, onions) are still packed with aroma and taste. It seems the menu has been altered to cater for quick lunch crowd ๐ค
๐ฅธ When you want to eat plant based wrap but don't want to compromise on texture and flavor, this is a "great pretender" indeed! The soya meat has similar texture to the Peri-Peri chicken (their signature). Smoked chilli sauce is a replacement for the creamy mayonnaise. ๐ถโ๏ธYou will also find another plant based alternative (look like bak kwa-a replica of bacon bits) which lend extra flavor and texture to the wrap. The small wedges sides are well seasoned. I have those with extra spicy peri peri sauce.๐ Staff service is great despite lunch peak hour and I got takeaway bag to consume what I couldn't finish #nofoodwaste ๐โป๏ธ
Although this outlet might be convenient (right in front of escalator on the 2nd floor) with enough seating spaces, the drinks are not as on point as it should be (esp. Coldbrew) and served in plastic/takeaway cups.๐ฅคWe have insisted on the mug but we were told that they normally serve drinks for this outlet in this takeaway styled cup. We are there at 9:30 am. so it's unlikely they run out of cleaned mugs. Having said that, the service staff is very pleasant & helpful in point collection.
