@the_lab_sg is always a fun place to go. The team there has a great stable of delicious staples - like the Heisenberger (a tidily-sized juicy patty topped with turkey bacon, caramelised onions, blue cheese aioli etc) and experiments with fun dishes like these Galaxy Donuts ($3 each). The donuts were lighter than expected, with a crisp exterior. Don't expect light, sweet things ala Krispy Kreme but heartier bites topped with the Galaxy. While not expectional, they were pleasant and very much on trend ;)

Risotto made with barley? Yeah I was skeptical too. Unlike rice, these were less chewy and gave more of a crunch. It made for a curious, but not unpalatable dish. Flavour-wise, I couldn't discern it's base, which I assume was lobster, or crustacean in nature, thanks to the fat chunks sitting atop the slop. But it was just lacking in character, a calefare rather than the star of the dish. Even after mixing with the dollop of cream, it still had no body. The lobster meat was tasty though, robust and strong in flavour, the barley paled in comparison. Still hungry, I asked for Marmalade Pantry's special - cupcakes. That was, no surprises here, delicious. More on that next time... on the chronicles of #disappointingdishes.

Started my second day at the new office with @deliveroo_sg hohoho. Just HAD to order the eclairs from @leclairpatisserie! These pretty pastries are perfect cause they aren't cloyingly sweet and just the right amount of exciting flavours to wake you up during the afternoon slump. Flavours I got: salted caramel, gula Melaka and my favourite: Ispahan - rose and lychee with huge raspberries in the Centre - refreshing bites of fruit and soft, gently sweet pink cream! #eclairs

Never found a reason to head to @GrainTraders till yesterday. I now work at Raffles Place and it is the closest place. I am happy to announce that its exuberant price point is worth it! The place is a yuppies dream, pay $18 and you get a banana and a water with your healthy, balanced meal. The make-your-own-plate idea is simple, but the ingredients of high quality and unique enough to have you coming back for more - I got charred corn, seared tuna, soba, apple kimchi, seed mix and grilled peppers. Filling, satisfying and worth the $16 I would say. #healthylivingisexpensive

Also highly recommended: Invader Inside. A gimmicky looking tin that has SEVEN layers of different chocolates, popping candy and a moist, sponge cake hidden by mousse and creme. What a treat! You can buy the whole little tin for $15 and give it as a gift. The bronze little invader is edible too - a dark, bitter chocolate that leaves an echoing aroma of cocoa in your mouth. Don't worry, you'll sweeten it with the other melding layers and be totally entertained by the incessant popping of hidden popping candies in the plastic can. As always, so indulgent. This is part of @antoinette_sg's chocolate fetish menu that will last till October, so grab it soon! #chocolate #deathbychocolate

Sign me up for anything chocolate! @antoinette_sg is dishing up an insane menu of chocolatey delights (over 20 items!) and this chocolate macaron burger is just one of the items. Somewhat in between the size of a slider and a large macaron, it is so intense, it has to be shared between two (or even four!) people. Sandwiched between the chocolate-laced macaron is "lettuce" made of white chocolate, "ketchup" made of raspberry, apricot "cheese" and a chocolate ganache patty. *gulp* Dark chocolate lovers will like the bitterness that accompanies the patty. A deeper look into the menu coming up over the next few days! #chocolate #chocolateforever

We had the new Kopitiam-themed menu and the "soft-boiled" eggs and kaya toast parfait were smashing. It was like stepping into an episode of Heston Blumenthal's Fantastic Feasts - Singapore edition. Sweet treats packed into deceptively ordinary breakfast foods, the pale chocolate eggs cracked opened into a gooey mix of coconut panna cotta with tangy yolk centre. The kaya toast rife with just the right amount of coconutty sweetness in a creamy parfait form. Smashing was to end dinner. But while you'll probably get the real breakfast set for under $5 at a Kopitiam, these were a hefty $13.90. Also served with a gula melaka "soya sauce" and cinnamon "pepper" powder. 👍🏼 #nonentreedesserts #kopitiam #breakfast

Ooo yummm Bak Chor Mee! Oh.. Wait... No.. That's @nonentreedesserts's Bak Chor Mee dessert! It's sweet! 👍🏼 - okay, I didn't know how else to break it to you. So their new menu is very local driven, "soft-boiled eggs", "Bak Chor Mee", ice cream in flavours like white rabbit, has flakes, milo and more. It was a very atas local breakfast. I mean, $13.80 for Bak Chor Mee? Abel lost his shit. Hahaha but it was a screwy dessert that looked like a savoury hawker treat - confusing, but delicious. The strands of "mee", mango vermicelli, the fishball, coconut parfait, the "minced meat" sesame snow, "lard" nuts, and at the bottom, what is usually ketchup, chilli and vinegar, was a raspberry reduction and balsamic jelly. It was (is) a kooky dish to try, fun to look at and even more enjoyable to eat. They achieved a balance of flavours despite messing with the balance of Hawker Powers That Be. Hahaha

Dropping a must-try before @rockabelity and I head off to Batam for his birthday spa! His mum suggested #TheSeafoodInternationalMarket at East Coast and it was crazy good. The Thai-Chinese cuisine totally blew me away (maybe it's because my expectations were damn low). The star dish: chilli crab. Ask for it to be served with garlic bread - yes you heard me, GARLIC BREAD. Buttered slices of baguette topped with crispy garlic bits. Then after you finish the meaty chunks of fresh crab (seriously meaty) you can dump spoonfuls of the generous amount of chili crab sauce onto your bread and just slop it all up. Here's the kicker = the sauce had peanuts in it. I bet it was the Thai influence that called for it. It made the chilli crab sauce ten times better and totally set the dish apart. The sauce isn't spicy at all, sweet and rich with a delicate tingle of spiciness is all. The crunchy bits of peanuts really make it special. Also, this is crab enough for four people and it came up to.... $47. YES. SO AFFORDABLE. Go. GO. They also have a buffet lunch for $28.90++ per person.

Thanks @craftsmenspecialtycoffee for letting mess around for SO LONG to get one photo hahaha! Loving the iced espresso latte ($7) and the salted gula melaka waffles ($15.90)! I know this is weird, but this ice cream waffles combo makes a great brekkie. See, the waffles is sprinkled with a heaping amount of sunflower seeds and almonds that add texture to the dish. So it feels like a great brekkie granola dish on "toast". Plus cause the weather is so warm, the ice cream melts quickly which makes it a great creamy topping for the warm waffle. The berries are fresh and tart, a gentle balance to the overall sweetness. Ok I'm stuffed. #waffles #gulamelaka

Iberico pork cheek? Yes please! The bff @bokkeroonie (whom I forgot to take a photo with - apologies, I really need to start taking photos of people rather than food LOL) hinted strongly we had to have Santouka ramen. What a great decision Bok. Totally worth it. The ramen was light, the soup (Kare Miso) flavourful but not overwhelming, it had a light punch of spice to it (super light), the noodles springy and chewy. Then BAM! The #iberico pork cheek blew it all out of the water with its melt-in-the-mouth tenderness. There was a wonderful sweetness to it that melted into a lovely, meaty aftertaste, each bite so tender and magical. But see, each bite was so tasty because of the FAT (see that shine). The life-giving fat giveth, the life-giving fat taketh away. *sigh* cause once you had that fatty pork - nothing satisfies. But no matter how delicious, the oiliness did kill it for me a little. Still. At $22 for both ramen and pork, this was a steal. RAMENNNNNN FOOORRR LIFEEE #RAMEN #Santouka #santoukaramen

You like bubble tea? My hubs loves bubble tea. Like he's freaking obsessed. So we popped by @bubbs2270 to trying their adorable $3 bottle of tea! The pearls were chewy and small, but clumped to the bottom of the light bulb instantly - cause there was no ice. No ice also meant that the drink wasn't diluted. Okay. I'm too tired to describe it. Here's a short one: If you like cute bottles $3 is worth it. #bubbletea
