Top grade marbling beef shabu shabu at Sukiyaki Sankoshiya. This is probably our most expensive meal here in Japan as yet. 4,700Yen per pax. By the way, this restaurant only has private rooms.
Extremely soft and fluffy. We were quite sad to see that the polar bear enclosure was closed. After reading the sides, we realised that the polar bear lost her cub which was born on 4 November 2015.
The yakisoba and orange juice set costs 700Yen which is quite affordable considering that it's in the zoo. We had a great time because the zoo was relatively empty so it seemed like we had it all to ourselves.
Maruyama Zoo is the oldest municipal zoo in Hokkaido. We are having breakfast at KFC 🍗 at the Maruyama station before taking the bus there.
Breakfast here isn't exactly cheap. It's 490Yen with drink, which is equivalent to about SGD$5.60. However, you get a whole fillet, not the cheap minced chicken variety.
2) Macarons from L'OLIOLI. 5 flavours: Earl Grey, Caramel, Sesame, Raspberry and Strawberry.
3) Mushroom onigiri 🍙 from Sazae.
4) Shio chicken winglets with seaweed.
5) Fruit salad 🍊🍎 from the supermarket.
6) Assorted fresh mochi.
Drinks from Lawson. Total cost of our dinner about 3,000Yen, which is about SGD$34. The macarons making up almost half the amount 😁.
The swirls reminded me of a Mont Blanc but the taste of pumpkin is discernible. The pumpkin balls and pumpkin paste (at the bottom) are a nice touch.
A thick and rich green tea which is mixed with a huge jug of frothy milk. By the way, Whitecosy seems like a very popular cafe! Even though it's a week day afternoon, people were queuing for tables.
Beef rice omelet with Spanish sauce (815Yen) and rice omelet with hamburger steak and demiglace (834Yen). Both are small portions, not sure how huge the medium and large would be.
I would recommend the hamburger one which is more tender. Also, the amount of meat for the beef one was really little.
Despite the fact that it is supposed to be mini, this is quite filling.
What I love about this is that the rice is soft and the sauce permeates all the way to the bottom of the bowl. The generous amount of beef definitely helps too. If you have a bigger stomach, this comes in 3-4 different sizes.
The world famous Rainbow Tower 7 tastes soft serve (550Yen)🍦at Sakaimachi Street. From top: grape, strawberry, matcha, melon, milk, lavender and chocolate. The flavours are as distinct as their colours 👍🏼. My favourite one is the grape one! And yes, I'm eating two soft serves in half an hour 😝.
Found Popura Farm, a melon ice cream store in a small alley, instead. Price is on the high side, 700Yen for a slice of melon and melon soft serve on top. The melon is really juicy but after eating the ice cream, I can't tell if it's sweet.
We tried Udonnosoumaya at Odori Station and the udon was the bomb! Very soft and chewy! The curry was also phenomenal :) This bowl of beef curry udon is their third best seller and it costs 750Yen.
