Set lunch ($35) with assortment of sushi (flounder, Ikura, tuna, mackerel, amberjack, tamago). Sushi is Edomae-style where the warm rice is seasoned with salt and vinegar. Each piece is firm, thick, and long enough to cover the rice. There is a special fridge behind the sushi counter that is customised to keep the fish at the optimum temperature. According to its website, the fish is sourced from Tsukiji market. Nice option in Orchard area

The char siew was love at first bite. The caramelised sweet charred bits and the melt-in-your-mouth fatty portions of the char siew were having a wonderful chemical reaction in my mouth. Alas the char siew pieces were a bit inconsistent as some pieces were pretty dry. The signature char siew was part of the Roast Treasures rice bowl ($9.8) which also comes with crackling roast pork, chicken rice and half a soft-boiled egg. The roast pork and chicken. rice were alright albeit on the dry side. I love the runny eggs.

The semi-peeled prawns are thoughtful and convenient to eat, adding to the overall enjoyment. Basic yet classic. It is hard not to like Luka.

According to @ristoranteluka, this is their most popular pasta. Aesthetics-wise, this scores well with its warm pinkish hues. Taste-wise, it’s savoury but not overfilling. Perfect comfort food!

I wished I saved more space for all of them. So good. Especially the chocolate β€œbomb”, white chocolate dome and wafer, Pandan mango sorbet.

This one nailed all the criteria - service, food, ambience. Now I know which one to recommend when asked.

Soy sauce chicken has garnered some reputation of late. After being bookmarked by me for almost a year, I finally tried Hai Kee’s version. First the rice: aromatic and has a good nite and distinct chicken stock flavour. The soy sauce chicken: on the drier side of moist. The chilli: one of the best I’ve eaten. Unforgivingly intense and when added to the rice and chicken, it’s greater than the sum of all parts.
