Explored this new place as itâs newly revamped. Was attracted to try out this place as the live band was playing Chinese songs on a Saturday night.
Ordered Kwirk draft beer tower as have not heard of this beer brand before. Beer was light and refreshing.
Got hungry and ordered the flat iron steak (medium rare), calamari and homemade prawn balls.
The flat iron steak topped with chimicimi sauce was well executed - steak was rest well before serving hence juicy and perfect doneness! The steak also came with crunky mashed potatoes and salad.
The calamari was decent with special mention of the sauce as chopped relish was added in the tar tar sauce to heighten the sauce.
Decent homemade prawn balls had Thai herbs added which enhanced the flavours. Also like the texture of the prawn balls as there will chunky pieces of prawns however tad slightly for my liking.
Connorâs draught was available - love it!
Definitely will be back for their live band, ambience, drinks and steak!
2nd time dining here, not too crowded. Always love their burgers esp their mushroom and meat double patties. Also love their cheese fries.
Ordered the limited edition Sakura beer which was tad sweet for my liking.
Intended for beer only but ended up having snacks (sort of dinner) here.
Ordered the Lok Lok ($1.50 per stick, min. 5) 17 options (no beef option) with Thai green chili and spicy chili which was decent fried items, wait time was quite long during dinner time - not sure if itâs because itâs from other eatery nearby.
The tater tots with mayonnaise served on the side ($8) - decent pricing for the portion.
The beer gao (Guinness + white beer) per pint $10 (happy hour) & $12 (regular price) had 20% Guinness + 80% white beer ?tiger, was decent also.
Lucky to have came earlier 5ish PM therefore so not crowded and easy to get a table. Nearing dinner time the bar was packed.
Love that they have a beer pong table, 2 dart machines and pool table. Played the darts where you would need to place $10 refundable deposit for the darts. Board games and card games are also available with refundable deposit.
Do note that thereâs only 1 handicap toilet within the premises however more toilets (male and female separate cubicles) outside near the exit where the pool table is.
Service took awhile as they were short staffed; 2 staff excluding the bartender for 1st floor.
Stopover for coffee after lunch on a weekday - crowd came about 3pm for tea break. Cosy quaint cafe with minimalist tad industrial interior. Nice cold brew!
Came for weekday lunch at 1130am and by 1230pm the place was packed. Note that restaurant has split shift; closes from 230-5pm.
My dining partner and I had a private room to ourselves.
We ordered the sashimi set (noted that requirement to order the same set within the same dining group). Came with various bancha (side dishes) which we loved the abalone porridge and grilled fish. The sashimi was fresh and generous. We also ordered the spicy fish roe cold noodles which was good. Additionally, we ordered a portion of marinated crab (the boss was nice enough to allow us to order ala carte as usually the marinated crab is only available part of the set). The marinated crab was tad salty for us even with rice - not sure if itâs how it supposed to taste like as itâs our first time trying.
The interior of the restaurant was nicely decorated with a fake Sakura tree. The staff who served us were friendly and helpful especially the lady wait staff who took photos for us and directed us to pose - added bonus for good service!
Will be back for sure!
Came on a Thursdayâs night with reservation with 2 other dining partners. Sat on the second floor of the restaurant which was quiet and cozy.
Ordered mostly tapas to share over drinks. Tapas was decent and so were the cocktails. Ended the night with a bottle of sake. Bill came up to $300+ for 3 pax.
Had previously came in couple of years back and revisited twice in April 2023 for birthday celebrations.
Food standards the same; as good as previously. All the dishes were yummy.
The burrata (with Parma ham rucola and cherry tomatoes) - good sized portion (can opt for small or large; small good for 2-3, large 4-6).
Tried 2 different pasta - Penne Cacio de Pepe (penne pasta with cheese and pepper) and Orecchiette, pork sausage, saffron sauce . Both so so good, pasta cooked al dente and flavours hitting the spot!
Tried 2 different octopus starters: fried octopus and grilled octopus, both really yummy, doneness just right not rubbery.
Mixed grilled fish and seafood platter (in M size) was decent, however portion size on the smaller side.
Did quite fancy the Porchetta (baked pork belly) as the gamey pork taste was quite overwhelming. Remembered it to be better.
The beer braised beef with mashed potatoes was decent, nothing to wow about.
Disappointing were the pizza slices which were cold when served. Flavours were good and love that you could order small portions of different flavours. Could have been better if the pizza were heated up before serving.
Moving on the the desserts, all desserts tried were nice. The pistachio tiramisu was very different from the usual cocoa coffee tiramisu, lighter in flavour with nutty roasty notes. The chocolate lava cake was served with ice cream, fresh cream and nuts. The cake had a nice crust and gooey chocolate lava flowing, delightful! The black forest cake was nostalgic, love the harmony of flavours.
Was recommend to come try their fish n chips. Love that theirs is breaded and not battered. Portions are a bit small for $8.50: a piece of breaded fish + chips + coleslaw. Taste wise nice, the fish nicely fried and inside moist, reminded me dearly of the nostalgic kind of western food.
My partner ordered the mixed grill on a sizzling plate ($15), decent serving of different poultry (beef, lamb and I think was pork). As my partner does not eat lamb, I ate the lamb and it was good for the price point. Not too gamey, cooked medium well and not too chewy.
The fried rice looks good, will be back to try that.
Came here a couple of times, the food doesnât disappoint. Especially love their èŸŁć鞥, super addictive and pairs well with beer. All the other dishes were good too. Portions decent.
To take note that you will need to queue during peak dining hours, when you arrive can grab a queue number chit from the counter and they will call your number once table is available.
Wanted to have a bite before boarding my flight at 10pm as other food places were closed or closing soon.
Was placed on wait list for a table of 6 pax. Explained to staff Teck Wai (I think he is the manager there) about my situation in hope to have a quick meal to fill my stomach before boarding. He explained as there werenât limit on seating timing and that the bigger tables which could accommodate 6 pax were still occupied as the guests were still chatting after their meal. A small table of 4 pax left and I requested if possible to seat us at that table, that weâre okay to squeeze and will not take too long to dine. He was empathic and helpful, even though the section was closed, he sat us down.
Food wise, standards as good as usual. Love their coconut both, refreshing and hydrating. Specific dishes which I would usually order at beauty in the pot: beancurd roll (Ling Ling rolls), meatballs with soft bones, the prawn and meat pastes, prawn dumplings. The Celtus and Chinese yam were good too, 2 mins in the boiling broth for the crunchy texture. When cooked too long, the Chinese yam tends to turn powdery and dissolve in the broth. Tried the seaweed which was new on the menu, cooked tad too long and the seaweed dissolved into the broth (oops)! Love the complimentary Yuzu shaved ice served at the end of the meal.
Additionally, 20% off food items after 10pm.
Excellent food and service, will be back for sure. Thanks Teck Wai for the great service!
Came here to try the iconic chicken rice.
Ordered the individual portion of chicken rice to share, it was good, rice cooked well and flavourful with stock, chicken was tad dry, however well marinated. The chicken slices (boneless) were on a bed of lettuce and few slices of cucumber. Chili was not too garlicky (which I preferred to avoid garlic breath) which was accompanied with ginger purée and dark soy sauce.
Also tried the char kway teow, rojak and oyster omelette.
The char kway teow had a good wok hei to it.
The rojak had variety of ingredients from the usual fruits and additional ones like jambu (water apple). The yu tiao (dough fritters pieces) were crispy and coated with sauce. Taste wise a tad sweet IMO.
Interesting rendition of oyster omelette which reminded me of the Japanese omu rice where the ingredients are encased within the egg omelette and the tangy chili sauce dosed on top of the omelette like a sauce. Would have been better if the chili sauce to be served on the side instead as the omelette and oysters were drowning in the sauce covering all taste with the sauce. Also, texture wise, itâs all soft and lumpy. Unlike the hawker version which has crispy bits.
Wasnât expecting much from the coconut shake however was pleasantly surprised (after the shocked from the oyster omelette). Blended coconut ice cream with juice, bits of chin chow and chunky red bean brought highlight to simple ingredients. Yummy!
On the service side, it could have been better, as we have asked to change our seats not once but multiple times throughout our dining session as they were high stools and my pregnant girlfriend was 7 months pregnant was quite a big tummy hence the chair was uncomfortable and the table clearance barely touching her tummy. Not mentioning there were empty tables which was âreservedâ. Disappointing with the lack of human touch.
