The prawns were succulent! The spaghetti was al dente & it was flavorful. You're able to taste the Tom yum & the spiciness kicked in really quickly. Prepare a drink to quench!
Down under the weather but does not stop me from munching on this luncheon fries at Rustic Bistro! They serve it piping hot at your table, you may request for mustard or garlic dip to go with it. I feel that it is a little dry though...
Ever had yong tau foo with Chee Cheong Fun? I had not till last Tuesday! I'm so grateful for cheap yet yummy food that is around office. Their Chee Cheong Fun is the bestseller. Their soup is not oily & flavorful. Their fish paste stuffing was great, especially their bitter gourd that doesn't taste bitter at all. Commendable 👍🏻
Another place for steamboat! Bijin Nabe translates to Collagen Hotpot (美人锅). It's about $25 per pax. The broth is cooked for at least 8 hours until the chicken bones are fully dissolved. If you're a first timer there, their friendly staff will teach you the way of eating Bijin Nabe! Once the collagen has melted into soup, the staff will scoop some out into little sake cups for you to taste the original flavor before putting in the ingredients which consists of prawns, minced meat, vegetables and noodles of your choice. I really love steamboat & soup, so if you're of the same kind, you may want to try this place!
Each scoop comes with pre-selected toppings. You can choose from standard toppings to premium toppings if you would like to have any. The earl grey lavender ice cream reminded me of Gryphon Artisan tea. Both of it are my favorite which is the best of both worlds. Oh don't get me started on the crispy yet soft in the inside waffles, alongside, sweet summer berries with chocolate sauce & maple syrup to complete it 😍
It's Gula Melaka overdose here, won't really recommend this as it is very overpowering, only those who loves palm sugar.
Around town around 9pm, still have no dinner and craving for steamboat or mookata? Make your way down to Jalan Besar for Thai Mookata at Huay Kwang Thai Kitchen! The art of Mookata is to cook all the meat on the grill, allowing the flavor drip into the soup. The soup was great. However, the way they slice their meat was inconsistent (some are thick, some are thin, some are not even sliced). It's quite inaccessible without a car. $104 for 5 pax!
My favorite among all. Soft carrot cake fried to perfection. You're able to taste the "wok-hei" and not to mention, plentiful of beansprouts that were crunchy as well. Oh I need another plate of this now!
As mentioned by their restaurant manager, this is off the menu. It is one whole prawn for 1 butterfly prawn!
The best Siew Mai I've had so far! They are very generous with their prawns. How to know whether the prawns used are fresh? They're do not smell bad, not slimey but crunchy.
Spicy papaya salad with salted egg $12.90. Nothing can go wrong with salted egg dishes. This was a pleasant surprise as I've never tasted papaya salad with salted egg before, it's so appetizing & refreshing at the same time! A little too spicy for me that I kept reaching out for my Cha Yen (Iced Milk Tea) but those who can take spice, this is game for you!
Sweltering day calls for cooling stuffs! Whilst waiting for my bestfriend's arrival to start our Dreamworks Exhibition, chanced upon this! It was perfect for the hot weather we're currently having in Singapore right now. It wasn't too sweet nor was it too strong of a taste. Heard that their creme brûlée tea is good, shall try drinking it the next time!
