The cream is not so much hence not jelak, and the mushroom are cooked till more soft. The linguine is done al dente. It is so affordable and really filling! They also carry Brewerkz' brews and other interesting liquors. I feel this place is quite underrated and worth much more support.

It is the now-defunct Ronin's recipe and especially good for those who have not moved on like me. Crispy sourdough and perfect runny eggs - would have preferred it to be slightly more salty/buttery but all's good!

The cinnamon roll is more on the thick and dense side and the cinnamon were sprinkled just enough to give hints of cinnamon but not until it overpowers everything. I will have it for a slightly heavier pastries breakfast. Flat white [$5] is quite strong, not acidic and the nutty notes, which I am a fan of, came through strongly and nicely. The two complement each other really well. With the current safe-distancing measures and the rain when I visited they operate about three tables on the walkway, which can be crowded from the neighboring cafés, restaurants, fast food joint and services, therefore I recommend takeaways unless you love people walking around you most of the time.

This hand brew [$6.5] offers a smooth, not very strong coffee with dried fruits and milk chocolate notes. A nice cuppa for those who are into specialty coffee but also needs something relaxing to work with or catch up with friends in their minimalist bright space.

Great chai lattes are hard to find - so far my experience revolved around too much or too little spices. Their Dirty Chai is really balanced - the spices came through and complemented the base really well. I'll come back for this, as well as their bakes.

Its façade mimics its neighboring offices that I almost mistook it as another office in the area. The service was fuss-free, and they only displayed a set of menu and a slice of each cake on offer on the counter. When I visited they were at 80% capacity but it felt quite empty with the grey-ish wall minimalist furnitures, though it means that it doesn't feel so crowded especially in this time of safe distancing and all. The cake is, well, cake-y, the chocolate flavoring was not strong (despite being listed as double chocolate) but I feel it is trying not to side with either #teamfudge and #teamcake without being jelak. I also got a strong white, not as strong as I expected - the milk was almost as strong as the coffee, which is not what I prefer even though the roast profile is nutty, which I like. Overall it is good for a leisurely tea time if you don't mind the grey-ish (some may find it gloomy) vibe.

Though I don't find it extremely fragrant, the truffle flavor came through at every bite. It goes really well with the egg mayo and the croissant is so buttery and flakey! I love!

P.S. They accept BYO cup but not BYO container.

Another takeaway/delivery, I know it isn't eco-friendly at all but I reuse and recycle whatever I can, I promise! Uncle Penyet is one of the TGIF food during NUS days. The not only one, but two dory are fried till golden crispy perfection, and the meal is served with lettuce, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes which provides a respite from the fried items. The curry gravy complements everything (the good thing about takeaways is I can adjust the amount of sauce added myself) and the sambal is so so spicy and taste so distinctive that nah, those Korean noodles just can't beat it! Not forgetting the crispy crumbs that I love so much and when I eat there I'd get more of them. The portion is big enough I can eat two meals with one order. And they maintain the quality over the years - keep it up!

Got myself the earl grey lavender [$6.5]. The lavender is not as strong as the earl grey flavor, but both do not come out strongly either. It is not jelak and quite filling too, however some might find the flavor to be too weak. Nonetheless I will come back to try their other bakes and makes. The place is really quaint (somehow it is good they reduce the indoor capacity otherwise it may be so stuffy) and super aesthetic!

P.S. They encourage BYO to save on packaging, and also cash payment (possibly to reduce commission imposed on credit card payment fees). Support small business!

The sea salt fudgy brownie is sooo fudgy and ticks everything the name suggests - big salty crystals and really chocolatey. It is worth every effort and price. The highly-raved croissant is too airy for me and just somewhat buttery, though there are other bakeries that make it really buttery (which I personally prefer, if the butter is good). However as it does not taste strongly by itself, this croissant might be suitable to be paired with jams and other condiments. Price-wise, the brownie [$5] is comparable to similar quality items outside while the croissant is steeper at $4. Nonetheless good buy and nice (albeit small) place if you dine-in too!

P.S. I did ask and they said they accept BYO! Not sure if there is any incentives but, hey, isn't a clean and green environment a good enough incentive?

Having tried Machi Machi elsewhere, I wondered how the Singapore outpost will serve their crafts. I got myself a black tea topped with a thinner-flavored cream cheese, with no other toppings. The tea is already fragrant by itself and I got it with lite sugar (I am normally a no sugar person) which helped to bring the flavor of the tea out a little bit more. The cream cheese does not overpower the tea at all. I did not use any straws, and chose to sip from the top layer instead, to get both the tea and cream in just nice proportion.

The wagyu slices is so tender and truffle sauce is rich and not jelak, and definitely heavenly. The rice is fluffy and moist enough too. Good price for this quality.
.
Plus points:
1. As I am not a fan of overly-liquid eggs, the sous-vide egg consistency is best. It didn't flow that all my rice is soaked and wet yet it is still liquid enough for me to scoop and lather over the rice and beef slices.
2. Arrived within 30 mins from when I ordered.
