This was really good. It’s pricier and smaller than average but I think this was well worth. It was fragrant and had a strong coffee taste, and finished very smoothly. The beans are from Milton Coffee Roastery in Japan, according to the display. One of the better iced whites I’ve had in a long time!

Boribab - where the rice is boiled with barley. I liked the ingredients, each component was tasty but not salty nor heavy flavoured, variety of vegetables was good too. I particularly enjoyed the spinach and Korean beansprouts. Beef slices were cooked with onions and both were tender! Came with a smol bowl of doenjang stew which had cubed potatoes, zucchini(?) and firm tofu, was comforting but a little salty. Rice was slightly sticky, not too wet nor dry, was decent. Compared to hana k food’s (at velocity) bibimbap, this was cleaner/lighter in flavour. I would patronise either restaurant again when I’m hankering for Korean food.

A satisfying lunch option! I liked that there was zucchini, and the beef was tender & tasty, and cooked with some peppers, carrots and onions. The spinach and beansprouts were nice and lightly seasoned, mushrooms were juicy. Rice was good too. Thought the egg was overcooked, but was pleasantly surprised that it was an overeasy egg with a runny yolk. Wouldn’t mind having this again!

This was alright, nothing to fault but also nothing outstanding. Was chock full of ingredients and tasted quite clean but not bland.

Their bread was also p nice! I think it was a tomato focaccia. Crisp but not dry, and a subtle tomato flavour
And the vinegar!!!! Was soooo goood I was rly tempted to have more bread just to inhale more vinegar - it was thick and sticky with a beautiful flavour. Aged balsamic really hits different and I’m here for it.

Quite possibly one of the most memorable fish dishes I’ve had of late. The cod was so meaty and firm yet tender, with a mildly creamy taste. It was lightly breaded such that it didn’t taste like a fried fish / greasy, with the moisture all locked in.

I’m not sure what sauce it was, but it wasn’t very strong so it allowed the fish to shine. The mash potatoes were really creamy and smooth like a purĆ©e, was flavourful and not overly butter. Carrots were sweet, and beneath the fish lay a bed of mushrooms and spinach.

TLDR: Was an excellent dish! Definitely formed a good impression of the restaurant and will come back to try other items if I feel like splurging~

This is from their outlet at United Square’s food court.

Surprisingly decent banmian! I didn’t mind the texture of the noodles even tho it was a bit soft and thinner than usual banmian. Slurpy and tbh felt a bit like pasta but in a non-Italian sauce šŸ˜‚ The ingredients were okay, minced meat was soft and dumplings crunchy, I wish they gave more than that token amount of vegetables tho. Added on an egg (+$0.50) bc I wanted a runny yolk. I am appalled that I paid $7 for ban mian tho.

This is from Cookhouse by Koufu at Velocity.

Happy to find leicha at this food court, but compared to other leichas I’ve eaten, this pales in comparison. This is by no means bad, but the ingredients aren’t as tasty. There’s long beans, cabbage, xiaobaicai (that was overcooked), firm tofu cubes, ikan bilis, floss, and peanuts. I got brown rice, and it wasn’t mushy, and I did like that the ingredients weren’t oily. Thunder tea soup was alright, had sufficient bitterness. I wouldn’t mind eating this again since it’s convenient, but it’s very average.

Was good! Scallops, unagi, prawns, ikura were properly cooked, kelp was an interesting addition. Runny yolks are my weakness!! They also drizzle some sweet sauce, making it more flavourful and moist, but still wasn’t too saucy/sweet. At $38, it’s pretty pricey for the portion - prawns and unagi were a bit thin, only the scallop was normal sized. But since there’s 1-4-1 (mon-thurs dinner under the store promotion, and all-day if you have burpple beyond) it’s not that bad for ur wallet. We enjoyed it and my friend even said she’ll bring her friends/fam here! Will come back to try their other menu items!

Also gotta give the server a shoutout - she patiently explained which deal was better, as they run a weekday dinner 1-4-1 donburi promo, so she advised us to save our burpple deals for a weekend instead. She also was attentive and kept refilling our tea. Great service!! Thank u if u see this :)

This was ~okay~, the unagi was loRge and slathered in teriyaki sauce (I scrapped off some LOL it was too much) and of reasonable thickness, but nothing too memorable. Stewed eggs were fine but definitely have had better, this wasn't v flavourful for some reason. Not a fan of the rice texture/quality, had expected something more sticky and plump. Ordered this because I wanted a warn bowl of food on a cold rainy day instead of chirashi, but I was sorely disappointed.

Was crisp after toasting in the oven, but not dry and was soft & buttery inside. The lamination is pretty nice! Maple syrup fragrance is rather strong, sweet but it’s only a glaze so it’s not tooo sweet. There’s crushed pecans sprinkled on top, which added a nice nuttiness to the croissant.

Avocado, Feta, Tomatoes, Poached Eggs, Sesame Seeds,
Crushed Hazelnuts, Rustic Toast

Quite an enjoyable avo toast! Generous servings of avo that wasn’t salty, the feta, tomatoes, sesame seeds and hazelnuts added additional flavour and texture. Toast was good, crunchy but not too dry.
