Not the biggest fan of this - itās alright but itās not as nice as other dry noodles in the area, I prefer this stall for their soup MHK. The noodles are not as springy/qq as I wouldāve liked, prefer it to have more of a bite to it. The sauce kinda lacks some depth of flavour, I donāt enjoy chili in my banmian so perhaps you should go for the spicy version bc Iāve seen good reviews for the chilli banmian. The mushrooms are huge and juicy and flavourful, poached egg had runny yolks, and I like that thereās black fungus as it adds a nice soft crunchiness to the dish. Thereās minced pork, ikan bilis, as well as some flavouring/powder(?) that I would opt out of next time. Thereās spinach in a small bowl of soup as well for some greens. Overall still a decent lunch option, but Iāll still go for their soup mhk!
Pulled pork was lean but not dry, but not as juicy as others that I have tasted, tho it was still alright as it had a nice natural porky flavour. This contained cheese, black beans, rice, lettuce, and jalapeƱos - I particularly liked the cilantro rice! It was also served with sour cream, guac and pico de gallo. Overall, even tho it wasnāt *super* flavourful, I enjoyed how light yet tasty it was, not heavy like some sloppier burritos out there.
I have a soft spot for mushroom quesadillas, and this was enjoyable as expected. Melty cheese and juicy mushrooms are always a good combination - not too salty as well. The flour tortilla is grilled and so itās not floppy, and very easy to eat, nothing rly spills out. Itās also served with guac, pico de gallo and sour cream!
Chicken was alright, tho could have been more moist/tender. The charred onions were very good - soaked up the sauce and was very flavourful. Itās served on a sizzling hot plate, and comes with 3 flour tortillas (you can order more tortillas at $1/tortilla, as itās likely not enough for the amount of chicken there is), and a plate of lettuce, guac, pick de gallo, and sour cream for that refreshing flavour. Itās not a must get but fajitas are something we always get for a Mexican family meal, so thereās that nostalgic factor for me!
I donāt usually drink alcohol so I have no idea whatās the standard. This is the classic margarita we get at Mexican restaurants, it satisfies! Sangria was light and easy to drink as well.
Dumpling skin was quite thin and smooth, and filled with carrots, mushrooms, turnips, black fungus, and beancurd. Iām all about the textures so I kinda wished there was some water chestnuts for more crunch. The dumplings were drizzled with organic sesame oil and tamari, which was v fragrant and flavourful. A nice starter / snack, delicious but clean tasting!
The homemade pesto is herby and not cheesy like the true Italian ones, so itās much less salty but also thinner. But I find that the crumbled boiled potatoes added gave some body to the pesto, and there were also some nice chunkier potato bits (yay!) The olives gave a sharp and slightly tangy taste, and the grilled cucumbers were soft and tender. Topped with basil leaves + feta cheese for some additional flavour. Spaghetti was also slightly softer than al dente. Portions are quite generous, and I liked that the dish overall wasnāt oily!
Was quite nice! Mushrooms were quite juicy (thereās shimeiji & button mushrooms) and the cream sauce (soy-based) was thinner than a regular one, so itās less cloying and more clean tasting. The nutritional yeast acts as the ācheeseā but it had a slight msg smell to me, tho there was no aftertaste. The spaghetti is a bit soft, tho still acceptable but it could have had a little more of a bite. Generous portions, but admittedly a little pricey.
Been some time since I last had kajiken, and it is still good! The thick, chewy noodles were piping hot and cooked till al dente, had a nice bite to it as itās thicker than meekia / ramen. The sauce at the bottom is more than enough - itās a savoury sauce that is flavourful but not too greasy or salty. The onsen egg came with a runny yolk, and the charsiew was lean but tender, nicely marinated! I wish there were more scallions tho. Did not like the bamboo shoots here - there was this slight čå³. Comes with a bowl of soup that tasted like a chicken stock, not super tasty but not rly bland either.
They serve free flow cold roasted tea too!! I donāt usually drink beverages other than water but I always like this - itās sugar-free and has a nice roasty taste.
Between this and the Taiwan mazesoba Nagoya style, I preferred this as it wasnāt as zhongkouwei. Portion size is good for me, was filled but not stuffed!
finally tried this aft so long! have always loved waacow since nus days š first of all the mentaiko scallops were so so glorious and delicious they are so generous with their mentaiko sauce and the scallops were so fresh and grilled to perfection!! Had 5-6 scallops each too! My main was mentaiko salmon - had the best of both worlds of raw and cooked salmon! the inside of the salmon was still raw and the external was crispily grilled! also paired our food with 1 pint of asahi each!! VERY FILLING TOO FULL
Fat Saigon Boy is truly a warm comforting place with good Vietnamese food!! I always canāt decide between the baguette and pho š„° baguette is SUPER crispy all the time coupled with juicy generous portion of nicely charred grilled pork! Also love the chicken pho - umami soup based with smooth chewy kuay teow noodles and the chicken is ALSO grilled and has the wok hey to it!!! Love the sides too - pulled pork nachos š coffee abit sweet for me - never gotten it again since that one time
Friend brought us to fortune today for cheap good noodles introed by tiktok! Itās pretty amazing how itās a one man managing the whole stall and it was rlly crowded for a sun lunch / humble friendly stall hidden at level 2 of fortune centre š„² RLLY love the dumplings - got both chives and cabbage pork 15 dumplings for $4 what a good deal!!!!!! Dumplings were small but SUPER juicy with soup packed in the dumpling. The noodles were bouncy but wasnāt spectacular for me⦠maybe I had wished the noodles was more flavourful so I added my own vinegar and chilli oil! My other friend had gotten the soup noodles - which apparently they raved over it. Might try it the next time round!
