*Invited tasting*
For drinks, we got this peach mocktail, which arrived in a decanter. It wasn’t very sweet as they didn’t seem to put the artificial peach flavouring (yay!) which is usually sickeningly sweet, but the taste was q mild and not very peachy. Interestingly, they put paprika on the rim of the cup, which added a slightly smoky and spiced flavour, but wasn’t spicy.

An outlet exclusive! This was really nice. It’s very different from any other waffle (bagged neighbourhood bakery waffles / plated waffles from cafes), they use rice flour in the batter so the result is a mochi waffle that is delicately crisp outside, but chewy and a bit stretchy inside.

The goma gelato was v good too. Properly nutty and rich in sesame flavour, it’s sweet and has a flavour profile similar to a bssm tangyuan filling. As much as I liked bop’s goma gelato, this had a more intense flavour. Also it doesn’t melt too quickly so you can slowly savour it. The toasted rice topping was the cherry on top - it’s toasty and ricey, seems like a small component but it added a lot to the enjoyment. Highly recommend their mochi waffles and this goma gelato pairing!!

This was quite good! I can see why there’s a long queue for it - we arrived at 11.50am and there was a short queue of ~5 pax ahead of us, and we got our food 10-15mins later. Best to come before 12pm bc the queue was quite long then.

The soup was flavourful with a pleasant natural sweetness, but without feeling too rich/heavy. Even though the fried fish was soaked in it, it didn’t make the soup greasy! Also didn’t feel thirsty after this so I think no / not much MSG is added.

The fish was very thick and meaty - it’s not as succulent / tender compared to some hawker fish soup stalls but it feels more premium than usual. One of the fish slices had a bit of a fishy taste, but the rest were fine and I surprisingly preferred the fried fish, even tho it was not crisp after being soaked in the soup. The layer of batter made it taste better. Also liked the crispy rice sprinkled on top, which gave a bit of a crunch!

Definitely better than king of paofan for me!

Haven’t been to TDC in a while - inflation definitely hit, the bowl has shrunk by at least 1/3? That aside, was pretty pleased with my selection: Cilantro Lime Quinoa (a nice base with a light citrusy tang), Baked Sweet Potato (yum! really very sweet), Herb-Crusted Dory Fillet (skip it, it’s meh), Eggplant w/ Garlic & Herb (alright but was a little dry), Sautéed Mushrooms (shimeiji was crunchy and delish!), Pomegranate Seeds (for a pop of flavour), and Pesto which is what I always go for, for that herby and bright flavour. I do prefer a thinner pesto tho, but their dressings are generally quite thick and creamy.

For my own reference, replacing the eggplant with fajita veg and dory with peri-peri chicken would be the most ideal combi! But I shall give the other options a try too.

Loved this!!! What an unassuming bowl of noodles. I really liked how clean-tasting and simple yet delicious it was - did not expect it to be so goood!

The taupok was puffy and I think it was grilled before being added to the soup, so it was extra tasty. Also particularly enjoyed the oyster mushrooms which were so sweet and tasty!! The soft silken tofu too! Carrots, corn were p naturally sweet as well. There’s also vegan tofu ham in it, which tasted surprisingly ham-ish. Soup was clear but flavourful, we suspect they added dates to amp up the sweetness.

Definitely planning a return trip!

Back again! I really liked the omelette - it was still hot when served, and very fluffy and moist, with a nice charred exterior. The chap chye was decent - soft cabbages with dong fen and tau kee, but I think the sayur lemak (which I ordered previously) was better. The fish cake was good as well, bouncy and well-seasoned, there’s so bits of prawn in there too! I panicked and pointed to what looked like firm tofu, but it was actually firm tofu with tempeh. Tempeh is not my thing, and if I had to eat it I would have it fried. This was alright, but the tofu was tasty. The dish also came with some green beans and onions! Will be back for the prawn fritters, which were unfortunately sold out / not avail when I went today!

We both preferred the banana one. There was a pleasant banana flavour, and was reasonably smooth and creamy. The walnuts added a crunch, while the brownies were rly fudgy and provided another layer of texture. The Baileys one wasn’t as nice, the alcoholic-ness of it was only slightly present, could have been much more boozy. Brownies were similarly fudgy.

I realise their aircon is rly cold so it helps the gelato melt less quickly.

We ordered the one with pesto, but unfortunately they served us the lao gan ma chilli crisp. It was already served, and we didn’t want them to toss it, so we accepted it. Regrets lol I don’t usually like such chili flavours and I didn’t appreciate this one either. It wasn’t too spicy, and was only slightly numbing so I could still taste my food. The octopus was seared and had a crisp exterior which was nice, but the texture inside was a little strange, it lacked that tender / fresh bounciness that good octopus usually has. Not a bad dish, just a little sad that it wasn’t as good as expected. Perhaps an off day, or maybe the pesto one would be more up my alley.

I liked this! There’s corn, olives (a few), onions, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, lettuce, purple cabbage, edamame, pine nuts, and some kombu topping. The salad tasted v fresh, tossed in some sort of vinaigrette (?), and was served cold, so it was even more refreshing. Portion is quite big but it’s very easy to eat! Seems like a simple dish but it’s done well and we enjoyed it.

This was alright. Tiger prawns were cooked decently, not overcooked/mushy, but didn’t taste super fresh or 鲜甜, we’ve had better from other more casual restaurants. They were generous with the chopped garlic and peppers, though I didn’t find the sauce particularly tasty.

A must-order! If I came alone and only had space for one dish, this would be it. The exterior has a light delicate crunch, and was super soft and fluffy inside. Served warm so you can see the steam escape as you pull apart the bread. Rly loved the buttery crisp crust!! The compound butter was great too - I preferred the kombu butter for its delicious briny flavour, while the bf preferred the other one, but it tasted more like herb butter than garlic butter? It’s much bigger than we expected, so this should fill you up.

Love their crispy thin toast! It’s super crisp and the type that the crumbs fall everywhere. Butter is cold and v generous, kaya is lumpy but I can overlook that bc of the bread.
