Bread was nice! Puffy and chewy and soft, it’s good bread. Great with vinegar and olive oil.
Pizza crust was v nice! Light and chewy and puffy, very easy to eat. Similar to Luka’s pizza dough! Porcini was yummy; but the pistachio cream didn't have a discernible
nutty taste, pork sausage was a little underwhelming. Wouldn’t get this flavour again but would try their other flavours!
Tagliatelle was done to the true Italian standard of al dente (on the hard side), calamari was nicely cooked - tasted fresh and bouncy. Rly liked the sweet & savoury flavours of the browned garlic, and the cherry tomatoes. Sauce is olive-oil based but it didn't taste greasy! The saffron gave the sauce a nice sweetness. Was nice, but a little pricey.
This bread was slightly softer than their usual chewy breads. The orange sweet potatoes were very naturally sweet, it’s a smooth purée and v creamy, with some smol cubes that were also v soft. P substantial, it’s carbs on carbs 😛 I liked it and would repurchase!
It’s chewy as with most of their breads, with juicy raisins, cranberries, and blueberries which were q tart. No discernible red wine flavour tho. But there’s a strong blackcurrant juice taste, which I think they soaked the bluebs in. Idm this, but it’s not particularly outstanding.
Soft, moist and sweet - the gooey but not mushy bnn filling brought a natural sweetness, plus crunchy walnuts! One of favourite flavours.
I usually get their crispy toast, but I find their kaya a bit too lumpy for my liking, and could be more fragrant. Good thing is, their kaya is one of the least sweet ones I’ve tried. Anyway, I tried their steamed bread on a cold rainy day and it was vv nice!! I think it is the best bread option to go with their kaya. Butter is cold (they place cut butter slices into a bowl of ice) and generous as usual. Was v satisfied with this breakfast!
Cheddar, avocado, fried egg, tomato, refried beans, pickled onions. This is similar to one of my favourite sandwiches from wsd - the fried egg avo. This also has refried beans which were soft and mushy, the ~Mexican~ element of this torta. Love the combi of ingredients - it’s hearty yet refreshing, in a crunchy sourdough roll. Yum!
It’s a good caifan stall! The fried chicken was decently moist, and it was huge. The uncle cut it with scissors so it’s easier to eat. Enjoyed the soft stewy cabbages in the sayur lemak (there was some taupok in it too), and the tender potato. The curry is rather lemak but didn’t feel too heavy - it’s not too spicy, just a nice comfortable heat. Go before 12 to avoid long queues!
I didn’t have this but when it was cut into, the chocolate oozed out nicely.
The tiramisu was quite pleasant, with coffee & kahlua-soaked finger biscuits and fluffy mascarpone. I love tiramisu and this was rather decent.
This was unfortunately rather disappointing. The choux pastry tasted rather flat and stale, was soggy. Vanilla ice cream was quite generic.
