Mui Kee needs a bigger space because it clearly has a strong following here in sg. Ordered the parrot fish porridge but it was unavailable but they replaced it with the grouper. The porridge is so different from other places because you could seriously taste the wok hei from the fish. The congee itself is not really like the crystal jade kind but it was still very fine and went well with the ingredients.
Another favourite of mine is featured here, the cheong fun with mixed mushrooms. Mushrooms add a great texture to the smooth CCF. Would definitely return to Mui Kee and I am very very keen to try the claypot items (only available for dinner).
Lightly seared scallops, a good portion of rice to salmon ratio, this bowl not bad for a TGIF meal. With the one for one using Beyond, it really works up to be a good deal! Free flow water at the restaurant too.
For now, payment by cash only though.
While the food was generally good, we found ourselves asking what exactly is progressive Korean. Perhaps Iām not too in touch with the Korean flavours in different regions, the dishes felt generally good but I didnāt think they were particularly āKorean-ishā.
Having said that, I did enjoy the items we ordered. Picture features the grilled squid. Presentation is really cute and I liked the texture of the squid, which complemented the very subtle flavors. Dish at the back is the fried cauliflower, can feel the starchy batter, but I guess itās to absorb the sweet chili sauce.
Meta, Thevar and Kimme falls under the same group. While I found kimme the sleeker sister, Thevar wins my heart with their food! Time to try Meta next!
Not the melt in your mouth kind of char siew but definitely still flavorful and each piece is rather thick. While the environment is nothing to shout about, felt like they focus more on getting the quality and quantity right for the price one is paying. I enjoyed the fried rice with scallops and egg white that I ordered as well, not too oily and not lacking in ingredients
This spize outlet has such a great ambience especially if you pick the seats that overlooks the pool. Makes it so great to chill out. Had this Nasi Goreng Seafood that doesnāt scrimp on the seafood - there were four big mussels, squid, fish, crab meat and a big prawn. Sauce was sweet and sour as described. But thinking back, I think I still prefer my nasi goreng to be more savoury so Iāll go for another option next time instead.
Came here because I saw they offered one for one main dish. I thought it was a small Thai eatery on its own but nope, itās housed together with a few other stalls at this hipster coffee shop. All payment for food from different stall was done at one centralized cashier.
Sorry my picture doesnāt feature what I felt was the better dish but anyway, the sweet and sour fish (back plate) was really well fried, without having the thick starchy batter. It came with peas and carrots. Garlic chicken was rather normal. Still a worth it meal, the mains came larger than I expected!
āUpgradeā from usual tze char establishment, Enjoy has a good variety of options to choose from. I enjoyed (no pun intended!) everything we ordered, in particular this rich otah stuffed with lots of seafood, just look at the size of this otah.
The grandma te-kah bee hoon was my other favourite. Can taste the wok-hei and also the pork was well marinated, no āporkyā smell and went well with the vermicelli. I wouldnāt mind coming back to fish items and more appetizers on the menu. Service was prompt as well and the old school vibes of the place went really well with the type of food served.
Really worth it meal with Burpple Beyond. Paid 60 plus for 5 mains and 2 drinks.
Hits and misses for the food. Crab Benedict came with a generous amount of crab but I felt the croissant could be more buttery. The side of hashbrow was not warm, whereas our fish fingers had āsmokeā coming out and could tell that it was freshly fried. Ham and cheese macaroni felt more creamy than cheesy, so I guess it depends on oneās personal preference.
Having said all that, service was pretty prompt and the food was served very quickly. But I feel like the food doesnāt do sufficient justice to the pretty vibes of the place. I would still return for a visit to enjoy the vibes of the estate if I were nearby, but probably skip the food but give the pastries a shot the next time instead.
Cosy place for sure, and for healthy bowls, I think itās pretty great on flavour.
I had the garlic rice topped with salmon, broccoli, crab stick, cherry tomatoes and mushrooms.
My mom and sis had their set meal which comes with a drink and sides (gyoza/corn soup or truffle fries to share). Their drinks are v v worth it. The avocado smoothie doesnāt taste like those in your usual hawker centre, itās really smooth and light with almond flakes. And their barley drink is super refreshing with cooked barley and honey I suppose. One for one set meal deal using Burpple. But can only choose from the standard menu, cannot DIY your own bowl but still a great deal nonetheless.
Love this hidden gem in the west and Iām sure to come by if Iām around the area.
Yes, the focus yes is on the springy mee pok and interesting choice of bowls for the noodles. A good choice for a sort of healthier breakfast amongst the local delights! Ask for less lard if you want to be even healthier. Do good at this coffee shop when you can buy $3.50 meals for those in need šš»
A good attempt looks-wise in replicating the classic eggs ben. I love the avocado (replacing the egg) but I found the āhollandaise sauceā a little too sourish. Ambience here was nice and generally quiet :) One for one on selected dishes using Burpple beyond
This truffle dish describes my experience at Xin Cuisine. Many of the items tasted good, but the restaurant should work on the presentation of the items for the price it is charging. More memorable items for me taste wise were the Cordyceps Flower in fish bone broth, pork in BBQ (this took 30 mins for one portion, the staff told me I have to wait 45 mins at first) and claypot tofu with sea cucumber. All other items are above average but like I mentioned, for the price point and the ingredients used, they should put in more thought into the presentation. Seems like one can use Chope vouchers also but apparently it doesnāt apply for dim sum items.
