Long queue in the morning. CCF was on point, I think the texture of the CCF was smooth and the sauce was savory (slightly on the sweeter side) and went well with the chilli. The CCF is steamed in small batches by to ensure that it is steamed to perfection.
Got lucky and managed to get these - the last few pancakes of the day! It was a good fluffy pancake and I enjoyed the light cream and the fruits that went along with it. Not too sweet which was good.
BUT if I were to compare this with the one I had at Mei Ling Market, this is no doubt better but it is also around 4 times the price. 😆
I ordered additional Hokkaido soft serve which is really good if you like your it really milky.
Another reason why I may not return is because I found the whole concept at HABITAT a bit messy because the seating areas were around the shopping area. Really made me quite dizzy at the end of the day because it was packed with so many people. Maybe the crowd will die down a little and the experience would have been a more pleasant one!
I’ve long given up cafe hopping but Birdy’s was quite well reviewed by my foodie cousin and decided to give it a go. My burger or Breakfast Sanga (slang for sandwich in Aussie apparently) was a very wholesome meal to me. It had the right amount of protein and veggies. The brioche, bacon (being not too fatty) and beetroot pickles stood out for me. Paid 14 for this, no GST and service charge for now. I like this, a just nice portion for brunch, not excessive in ingredients - simple and fuss free.
I don’t like my food deconstructed but this Cendol was really good. The coconut ice cream had a very mousse like texture and I really loved how well it went with the Pandan Panna Cotta & Gula Melaka. Goosebumps and proud of how far this mod-sin institution has come.
Stumbled across Atlas when it first started and I’ve been going back for this.
It’s the perfect ‘feel healthy’ kinda brunch w the salmon. I love the sweetness of the mushrooms and the fried egg and the crispy bits on top. Would have preferred the salmon skin to be a bit more crispy!
I’ve never been a fan of mee rebus because I’ve always found the gravy to be thick and tasteless but this totally proved me wrong.
When it first came, I was like that’s sauce overload, a bit too much for breakfast, but couldn’t stop slurping after the first taste. The gravy was right amount of flavour and spiciness & completed every item well.
I am glad I went for this because I couldn’t bear to eat Selera Nasi Lemak after the disappointing meal. I will come back for this mee rebus again!!
Fluffy and light - this can be sold at 4 times the price if nicely plated in a cafe. I prefer the chocolate drizzle to the strawberry one which was a bit sweet. 2 for 3 bucks and what a sweet ending to lunch!
I like the portions here. Most tze char places do the one-plate dishes too big or too small but this was nice for me. I found the pork ribs a bit too sweet for me but the rice seemed to be of better quality than the average tze char.
I actually like the kailan that I ordered (featured in the background) much better, it was stir fried well with garlic, great to complement my pork ribs. Paid 5 bucks for the pork ribs rice & another 5 for the kailan. 5 bucks is pricey for vegetables but the smallest is usually 8 for other tze char so yes no complains. Good enough for one person.
Tong Lai Eating House
Father in law recommended this and you know for the older uncles to like - it has to be cheap and reasonably good. This stall is nameless and just says Prawn Noodles on the signboard.
For me, the sauce and noodles went really well together. Not dry, just the right about of chili and shallots to add some texture. Nothing to shout about for the soup. For coffee shop standard, I thought the prawns were considered bigger than average. This is definitely of reasonable quality at 3.50, be prepared for at least a 20 min wait on weekend mornings.

Look at the lard, definitely made the noodles tastier. Fishball was big and super QQ. Noodles was soft, the sauce was right with a light touch of chilli. They really gave a portion that is much more than the average. Super worth it for 3 bucks.✌🏻
On a side note, I really like Mei Ling Market for the great ventilation and spaciousness.
Lai Seng is my to go stall for CCF. It’s beside the popular kopi stall (in the corner) in the row facing the car park. For two pieces, this goes at $1.80. With sesame and sauce used, this CCF is smooth and fragrant. Skip the chili sauce unless you really need it. Lai Seng has morning beehoon that is pretty good as well but their side dishes are quite mediocre. The uncle and aunty at the stall are quite friendly so that’s a bonus. Nuff said, get the CCF!
Trying the healthier choice white carrot cake for breakfast. 大众whips up a pretty good plate of carrot cake, slightly crispy on the outside and the pieces of carrot cake are sized just right. I like the chili which is more towards the spicy side. Service here is efficient. I would also recommend the chee cheong fun here which is very nicely plated. Take the right queue for the carrot cake, and left queue for the CCF and Yam cake.
