Prices for "artisanal" coffees were much cheaper (below RM 10) with various desserts at the counter. Simple location for a coffee fix and a little date perhaps? π
My fellow lava-cake fans, you can get your cravings fixed here at a reasonably cheap price!
Also had to try the new Mcflurry Peanut Reeses. Not as nice as I expected π. Just some peanut butter chips and chocolate syrup on top of churned softserve.
A blend of retro interior and contemporary designs. Definitely a place for pretty Instagram-worthy pictures.
Although I was too lazy to get better lighting outside and move everything out there, I think this picture sums up my visit perfectly to this cafe in Malacca.
They are popular for the Local Pandan Pancakes with coconut gula melaka, add on vanilla ice cream. Tbh, the ice cream was not necessary as the pancakes were perfectly sweet and fluffy on its own, especially when spreader with the coconut and gula Melaka spread. I also like how similar and perfect the pancakes shapes are! π (must be the pancake pan that they have)
Another specialty is the gula melaka iced chocolate. Very special! It's very decadent but might be a little too heavy for a hot day in Malacca. There was flakes of gula melaka at the bottom and it really blended well with the chocolate! I did try to ask to add on a shot of espresso but I guess that was a weird idea. Even the barista thinks so.
Love the latte art as well. Really impressive. Although the coffee was just mediocre (imo). Food: 8/10
Price (GST excluded): Pancakes+vanilla ice cream: RM 13.90+RM 3.59; Cappuccino: RM 10.50; Iced Chocolate: RM 13.50
I'm also dissatisfied with the pictures I took π. Anyway, this was the English afternoon tea set and festive tea set (seasonal) at Mandarin Oriental. RM 98++ per person with refillable coffee (white or black of choice) or tea, and their own tea set.
It's definitely more than the one I tried in Majestic Hotel but more "English". Tbh I would recommend to opt for the English tea set as the festive set because it's a waste with only some gingerbread cookies and what not.
A plus point is the refillable coffee. Not just black but also for white coffee like latte, mocha, cappuccino, etc.
A great cozy place for you to bring your wife, daughter, girlfriends for some quality time!
Generally there's sweet, savoury, and dessert. All of them are of good quality food and fairly delicious!
Lobster roll! Who doesn't love lobster roll. Although it might be the most expensive sandwich.
This picture does no justice to the flavour of the meal I had here. Go with the steamed lobster to taste some juicy and sweet lobster. Have a lobster roll for generous stuffing in soft brioche buns along with perfectly cooked French fries.
This brought me back to memories from Burger & Lobsters when I was in UK. Although P&P seems like a ripoff from B&L I can't deny that the lobster market is blooming in Malaysia and P&P did a good job with fully booked seats every weeknight. I preferred the herbed butter sauce that is served with the whole lobster because it really brings out the taste of the lobster and serves really well with the chips. However the garlic aioli that came with the lobster roll is really salty. At least there was fresh watermelon salad to lighten things up.
Foo: 8/10 Price : 5/10 (RM 158 for every dish with lobster. Meaning all of the items on menu is priced at 158 bucks. Now I'm not saying it should be around 30-50 ringgit but it is a really expensive meal to begin with. RM158 for each dish? I'll rethink about coming back...πΈπΈπΈ) P/s. It is still worth trying for the first time. Maybe for really special occasions! If you have the money, by all means, go ahead. :)
Try the red bean injeolmi (peanut powder) with some hot matcha latte. Real comfort food.
The shaved ice is as smooth as snow or maybe talcum powder (not edible FYI). Learn how to do it the Korean way! Stir everything up so the injeolmi melts together into a delicious peanut butter like mixture with red bean and mochi balls. Try not to make a mess like I did. π
Hanbing Cafe also serves hot food and snacks like tteokbokki and dumplings.
Food: 7/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 24. I am usually not keen with bingsu prices. But it is an average price for a Korean dessert)
Grilled chicken and avocado sandwich with salsa. Eggs Falmenco.
Another happy croissant customer due to its flakey-ness and buttery flavour. But I didn't know it was a croissant sandwich (didn't read the menu properly) but I would've switched it to whole grain or sourdough for a healthier meal. Avocados and some juicy tender chicken is always a win though. Love how generous they are with the avocados! I think there was about half a 'cado in there. Explains the price!
Eggs flamenco is another style of baked eggs. Cheese-less, and with gorbanzo beans/chickpeas. Really nice savoury dish to dip your whole grain soldiers in the delicious flowy yolk-porn.
Food: 8/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 18 for sandwich; RM 21!!! For eggs. Mannn my whole bill came up to RM 54 for these few items including a croissant and long black. Thank god there's free table water to save some cash)
PS. Will definitely come back for croissants during tea! Very limited seating inside. Very humid and hot on bad days outside. They should invest in fans! #FWP?
Sorry for my absence (if it was noticed)! Stopped by Kenny Hill's Bakers artisan bakery the other day and this is their almond croissant.
They have the flufffiest-flaky almond croissant ever! Even the filling was not overly sweet. I have to give the trophy to them instead of Huckleberry.
Love how they heat it up for you before serving. Kudos to warm delicious croissants!
Food: 8/10 Price: 6/10 (Just very expensive organic prices)
Here I go again with my "aglio olio" trend. Tried the Char-Siew chicken pasta at YBR since Balik Kampung was out. (The waiter joked that the kitchen was still trying to catch the chicken)
Ended up with one of their best sellers. But it didn't impress me much. Big portion nevertheless. I just wished there's more chicken and the pasta was less oily. It could be more chewy/al dente too. It was just slightly mushy for me that day. Still, it was flavoured very nicely with the right heat!
Plus points for being sited in front of the coffee bar to eye on cute baristas. YBR have cute baristas. For real. π³
Food: 6/10 Price: 6/10 (RM 23)
Today I have the seafood spaghetti with tomato base. Seafood was a range of tiger prawns, calamaris, and clams.
Disliked the clams because of their inners but tiger prawns were very fresh.
Love eating at Alexis not only because of those delicious cakes on the counter but also their clean and delicious menu.
Non halal cafe. Delicious menu overall with porky bacon and sausages for their all day breakfast menu, to pastas and sandwiches that looks very appetising.
I went with their famous "chu yao char" aglio olio. Supposedly served with angel hair pasta but I opted for the fatter brother named spaghetti. Basically an aglio olio with deep fried pork lard that are usually found in Pork noodles or hokkien noodles.
Really delicious in my opinion. Generous Pork lard that you will never have first worlds problem of having too little, big portion of pasta noodles for a really filling lunch. However, it is slightly too oily for me. Thank God for a few sprigs of rockets to cleanse the palate and some table water.
Food: 8/10 Price: 8/10 (RM 18 - this is darn worth it for such a filling and delicious portion)
Coffee is served with soy!
Organic mushroom aglio olio pasta with a dash of chilly. (Option to omit chilly if you don't like spicy)
Very minimal oil used proven when presented with a humble shine. Nicely al dente pasta with good portion for a very satisfying lunch. And also delicious mushroom medley stir fried nicely with the right earthy taste.
Food: 8/10 Price: 5/10 (RM 22 - Yes because it's organic it's overly charged. Only criticism is the price for food here)
