On the constant hunt for places to have tea or pastries these days where I can do work or to have tea at with my friends.

Chanced upon this place serving TWG tea (refillable) with choice of cake. Cost around $15, conducive environment, good service and no time restriction.

Lemon tart was alright, with a mixture of chocolate, curd and foam like meringue. Pastries are quite limited so perhaps the high tea set might be an alternative choice!

Apart from steamboat, Mookata is my go to when I feel like having soupy comfort food especially on rainy days! I love it for dinner or supper ♨️

Affordable and really filled to the brim for 2 pax to share a set. Special mention for their smoked duck - plumper and fresher compared to where other mookata places would offer. Pork and chicken were good too, spy the packet of maggie on the top left where I will crack an egg atop it for more flavor! Set do come with a small platter of vegetables, vermicelli and egg.

Aside from Mookata, their mains and blue pea mango sticky rice are worth trying. Next on the menu I would want to try their live cockles, which isn’t available all the time so be sure to check their instagram for updates about it!

Set comes with:
• Signature chicken pie
• Homemade curry puff
• Homemade raisin scones with clotted cream and marmalade
• Chocolate éclair
• Chocolate pralines
• Green apple & chocolate macarones
• Baked cheese cake
• Coconut tart
• Smoked duck
• Vegetarian sandwich
• Chicken Ham sandwich
• Coffee or tea

I really like how warm, hearty and crisp the pastry skin of the chicken pie and curry puff are. Chicken pie creamy, and meat tender which is a surprise upon cutting into it! 🥧

A good mix of sweet and savoury which is what I prefer when it comes to high tea. A couple of them were a miss but its alright, overall still worth the value. Service was superb and ambience cosy, no time limit is a huge bonus given the time limit at certain places now.

Casual bbq place where they serve skewers of food, and a candle lit grill to warm your food while you feast! Opens till 12mn - 2am depending on which outlet you visit, good supper spot! 🌙

Tried the following this visit:
Grilled Potato Chips
Grilled Romaine Lettuce
Grilled Fresh Sleeve Fish (Sotong)
Grilled Fresh Prawn
Grilled Pleurotus Eryngii (鲍菇)
Grilled Bread
Grilled Pork/Chicken Sausage
Grilled Pork
Orleans Chicken Wings

Noodles with Soybean Paste

Bubble Milk Tea

Items that really took the limelight were the Grill Sausage and Orleans Chicken Wings because its marination hits the spot, Grilled Fresh Sleeve Fish (Sotong) for its softness not chewiness and surprise surprise their Bubble Milk Tea for the balance between their tea taste, sweetness and pearls texture!

Choice of chicken breast or thigh, opted for thigh this time. Chicken meat wasn’t the most tender, a little hard to dish out because of the bones intact too. However price is really reasonable and overall taste is acceptable if you are looking to have a quick meal! Includes 2 sides so I chose mac and cheese, and onion rings. Meal comes with a muffin, an unexpected hearty meal for me.

Top up $1 to make it a meal - for a drink and mushroom soup to me is really worth it given that the soup is of quality.

Desserts and bakes here are drool worthy, and thats what prompted me to take a trip there! 🤤

Brioche Donuts: Ordered one each of the chocolate & kaya to try, the chocolate leans towards dark chocolate which I don’t prefer but the kaya one was an absolute delight! Kaya itself is cold which I find it more enjoyable and delightful!

By the time we were done with the meal it was almost 2pm and some bakes were sold out, the kitchen were preparing to roll out new batches.

Head there early and place your takeaway orders with them during your meal to avoid disappointment!

Kaya Fluff Cake: Home made kaya between these chiffon layers, cream cheese frosting with toasted coconut flakes and pumpkin seeds. Homemade kaya light, fragrant and not sickly sweet - it does leave an impression on me.

Great discovery over here for their lunch promo which includes ala carte Pastas, Burger Sandwiches & Grilled Mains from 11am to 3pm

I had the Tenderloin in medium rare, it was a little too done but still juicy and not too tough 🥩

Topped up $2 just for the onion rings and thats when I was surprised! They were pieces of fried onion rings instead of the frozen factory made ones, crunchy and satisfying. One of the reasons why I would go back for their food because its so good!

I like the idea of having half portions so we can try more items on the menu. Really surprised the half portion seems like a full portion at any other places.

Loaded with jumbo lumps of crab meat, it is eye catching and makes me want to dig in fast 🦀🍝 The chili crab sauce did not lean towards the sweeter side, which I personally prefer. Its more tangy and tomatoey than spicy which is fine, the beaten eggs in it adds brownie points to this main.

All in all the sauce is legit good, better than how some seafood restaurants would have done it. Not to be missed!

After walking through tons of cafes in that district, lies this unassuming japanese restaurant. No frills at all, the pink signboard was what made me found the place.

I was craving for soupy food so I went with beef shabu shabu. The menu had almost no detail about it, I wished it had more description.

When it came the marbling of the beef slices got us all looking at it in awe 🥩 🍲 Thinly sliced beef, accompanied with mushroom, tofu and an assortment of vegetables which are already in claypot.

Beef definitely of better quality, portion of each slice substantial and satisfying. Lives up to being the limelight here.

Nabe itself can have more depth to it by having more of different ingredients in it, making it an even more well rounded dish.

Puff pastry sandwiched with vanilla ice cream, strawberry, coconut crumble, almond flakes and drizzled with mixed berries.

The crisp of the puff pastry is alike to that of an apple strudel, giving way upon biting. Tartness of having an assortment of strawberries, blueberries and mixed berries sauce provides layering to it 🍓 Vanilla ice cream blends in well and isn’t overpowering, making the whole combination pleasantly light.

A must have if you visit!

Located at Orto, 东星 Dong Xing - The Taste of East Asia

Quite an extensive menu for a place which serves drinks, and it drew me over especially when the menu seems to focus on East Asian food.

Upon giving it a good stir, copious amount of Minced Pork and Century Egg surfaced 🍲 Every mouthful consists of ingredients, coated with sauce from minced pork, flavourful enough on its own and no condiments needed.

Nothing mind blowing but decent comfort food, I finished it all. Would recommend this joint for food and drinks if you are over at Orto.

Although its opening hours states 5.30pm - 3am, I was informed due to the covid situation last order for food is at 1-1.30am. Still awesome for people who wants to have supper past midnight!
