Ordered Thai beef soup ($4.00) with additional noodle ($0.50)。 surprised to find this here as you don't really see Thai beef soup much in sg. Soup was rich, beef was really tender and noodle was chewy and nicely cooked. They were really generous with both noodles and meat for the price! Definitely coming back to try new dishes (their basil chicken rice looks AMAZEEEEE)
I recently had a fantastic plate of fried oysters in Penang and wished that I could find an equal in Singapore that matched up. Well guess what? This is it. The oysters are plump and fresh and the eggs are fried with crispy bit. Very flavourful and so addictive we packed home some for breakfast the next morning!
Wouldn't find myself anywhere near Braddell if it wasn't this. Must we really travel there for hokkien mee? Oh yes, it is means your dish is serve in claypot bubbling, piping hot and sizzling. We ordered a two person portion($10), you will find your usual prawns and sotongs(duhhh!) and also clams which I think totally brings the unami of this dish to a whole new level. The chilli was so addictive i found myself eating it alone but also totally complements the dish. One thing though, the crispy pork lard was too dry. Thats like probably the only fault I could find. If you like claypot dishes, you should try this. Like hokkien mee this stall is it. Like both? What are you waiting for? You need to try this!
From a stall with the very literal name 'Salted Egg Yolk Chicken'. Value for money (I think it was $4.50?) and a great choice if you are undecided and daunted by the immense variety in the Chinatown food centre.
When I was scouring Whampoa Market looking for something to eat. This dish caught my eye. (There's something about those golden crumbs and the slightly yellowish basmati rice that make it look so scrumptious.) There was a number of people having it so it really piqued my curiosity.
When I arrived at the Malay stall, the owner was busily packing about a hundred styrofoam packets as someone made a huge bulk order. Hmmm. Must be popular.
I ordered the ginger fried chicken rice. The garlic and ginger tones were subtle. The fried skin was crispy while the chicken meat was still tender and juicy. The best part would be dipping it in the spicy soy sauce and chilli. You ought to try it!
Honestly, sincerely, it was really awesooomeee...!!
If you haven't tried it yet, well i really think you should.

If you've been here before, you might notice that this thing is everywhere.. either on the tables, or on it's way to one. Curious enough, I tried ordering one and it was a very good decision.
Asked mine to be more spicy, and the auntie did very [VERY] well.. the crunch, turnips, chili paste, popiah sauce, and dash of cucumber was just great. Another thing is, you know the thing with popiah is that sometimes the roll size could be a bit too much? Well this one is just right! So each piece can go straight into your mouth without making you look like a glutton.

Definitely made it into my fav list! 😍😍😍

🏠 富城食品 Homemade Spring Roll

At $28, you get thick slices of beef and a nice portion of Foie Gras, not too much to make you feel gelat but just nice to compliment the steak. Felt the steak was slightly chewy but I loved how marinated and it paired well w the foie gras! Loads of rice beneath it! Had the pork belly which was amazingly crispy but lacked abit of saltiness in the pork. It came w some mustard which complimented it well.
The five Tiger prawns, de-shelled but with their heads left on for extra oomph, were fresh and springy. Saturated in the goodness of the prawn stock, the Aborio rice grains were cooked to an enjoyable chewiness with the Italian hard cheese, Grana Padano.
Usually, I find risottos to be a bit one-dimensional and seldom finish my serving. However, I didn't have that problem with this. With so many facets of flavour, plus the addition of baby spinach and fresh parsley, my tastebuds never got bored.
And just so you know, Chef Shaun cooks each plate of risotto individually upon order. So yes, you might need to wait a little but when the plate arrives, smelling so heavenly, you know it's worth it.
Nice lotus biscuit ice cream on a cone 👌🏼
