This was SO delish, so filled with the umami of prawn broth!
nothing else but medium-rare baby! very well-flavoured steak at an affordable price! one of the best steaks I've had in recent times heehee can't wait for my next visit soon! π
Rather serviceable and perfunctory. Apart from being as memorable as a secretaryβs story told in the elevator about how her mother prefers Hockhua antelopeβs horn to other vendors in the Toa Payoh area, the seafood was curiously cut up to small chunks almost as if you were of the age that required chair-stacking before sitting. Hmmmm. 3.4/5

While other laksa/pasta crossover projects (the magnificent Tolido's Espresso Nook variant comes to mind) bring the flavour of laksa to the pasta playground for exploratory experimentation, here the interpretation remains true to its traditional laksa beliefs. Essentially old-school laksa but blown-dry leaving a lingering moisture, like those 8.30am wet-hair mops which brush onto your face in the rush hour MRT train. 3.9/5

A really satisfying meal here with a small group of friends. We shared the papaya salad ($6) which was not too spicy and very very tasty, along with the fried spring rolls ($3) which we ordered about 4 servings of cos they were so good! I thoroughly enjoyed my vermicelli with pork and spring roll (yes..more) for just $7.90. Bear in mind this is a room temperature dish that calls for pouring in a salty fish sauce that comes on the side. The stewed beef noodles were also excellent. One of the better Vietnamese meals I've had, especially since it feels so warm and homey in there! Looking forward to my next visit for some special beef pho.
This Blueberry Ricotta Bacon Pancake is so so so so so good! Crispy on the outside while moist on the inside, topped with fresh berries and STREAKY BACON, drizzled with maple syrup and finished of with vanilla bean ice cream. The deadly combination of these things makes it SO GOOD!!!! BUTTTTT only available Mon-Fri 9am to 12pm in limited portion.
Wild Mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, garlic, onion and chili flakes all tossed in a creamy tomato sauce!
I really loved the creamy tomato sauce, which reminds me of the times when I tried out my culinary skills which involves me adding cheese to my tomato pasta sauce! This was the kind of flavour I was trying to achieve, which I failed miserably at home π’
Loving Carpenter & Cook's new cafe, which offers a compact menu of savoury items, including sandwiches, pastas and pizzas; their best-selling tarts, cakes and pastries, displayed at the counter, are also available.
The crabmeat fettucine comes in a big heap, a thick, robust pink sauce β that's more tomato-ish than cream β clinging to every ribbon of pasta. It's not mindblowing, but it's rich and hearty and hits the spot nevertheless.
My croissant comes piled with arugula, smoked salmon and oh-so-moist, creamy, scrambled eggs β there's even a dollop of caviar to add a pop of saltiness. It's a weekend brunch special that you should certainly not miss, especially when it's priced so affordably at a mere $12.
Two types of Japanese Tendon are available!
Special Tendon - $13.90++ Tempura Rice Bowl; Vegetable Tendon - $12.90++ Vegetable Tempura Rice Bowl
I ordered the Special Tendon which also came with chawanmushi and miso soup.
#Overrated for the long queue but reasonably priced considering types of ingredients used.

The yogurt soft serve was refreshing but slightly icy and the texture of sakura soufflΓ© reminds me of a sponge cake instead, which was lacking the sakura taste in it. What I enjoyed most was the soft and light vanilla pudding, and the overall texture mix of the chewiness of the dango balls with the crunchiness of cereal crunch that was added in the dessert.
Skip their parfaits and stick to their eclairs instead.
Formerly known as Benjamin Browns, newly-revamped bistro concept The Benjamins makes a splashy (re)entrance with the launch of their Over The Top Shakes ($16) β absolutely massive milkshakes topped with everything from the kitchen sink to your mother. Current flavours include Caramel Crunch, Nutella Banana and Tim Tams, but we say go for the creamy and fragrant Coffee Avocado, which is probably the most restrained of the bunch!
