Two things to note: The Ramen Stall opens till 6am in the morning for supper-goers, and it has been certified Halal.
Yes, 6AM!
Their specialty is the Volcano Ramen ($11) with 3 levels of spiciness, made from 'red hot lava' of red chillies and dry Indian chillies.
I like the dry version.

This is the latest steamboat craze that is bound to take Singapore by storm. The queue is freaking long! Varieties of seafood are cooked layer by layer from top to bottom. Even though the seafood was fresh, it was a tad dry tonight. As the seafood is steamed, the delicious and yummy juices are collected at the base, forming very flavourful soup base. We added in maggi mee, luncheon meat, meat balls, pork belly and remaining seafood into the thick soup. Soup base choices are Kombu Dashi, Korean Kimchi stew and premium Korean chicken ginseng broth.
Best for any kind of truffle craving.
But be warned that it might be overwhelming for some because it's really the most truffly bowl I've ever had. π€
Haven't brought my parents to brunch in awhile - cause old(er) people think ang moh eggs and toasts are a blasphemy - but I'm glad I chose Shelter in the Woods for this occasion. Parents absolutely loved it. Dad was a huge fan of this Chorizo Vongole, which saw a classic pasta dish elevated with the use of smokey spiced chorizo.
It's not the typical pancakes that I like, but very good nonetheless. Warm, chewy and slightly dense, these pancakes had slices of fresh strawberries in the batter. Eaten with the fresh berries and berry compote on the side, I was in fruitty pancake heaven.
Mac & Cheese looked super appetizing but personally, I preferred something a little more creamy and cheesy.... But to make up for it, the entire cafe was decked up in super cute artsy crafts. A perfect place for families and friends to hang out and carry out craft making!
Rid off the impression of Mos Burger when the word "Rice Burger" is mentioned, for this one feels more like a Bulgogi Beef Rice set compacted in the same shape and format as a burger. Couldn't taste much of the Beef in there but we have to admit the rice was flavourful from the Korean gochujang, though lacks spiciness. Despite so, this combination and the cheesy flavours does add up to something that is able to please most palettes.
Situated in the same stretch as Teppei and Keisuke Ramen and Gyoza King, I naturally placed my expectations quite high when I decided to try the lunch here thinking it would be on par with its competitors. The chirashi don is quite satisfactory in terms of the seafood freshness and serving, but the flavours somehow didn't make an impression like how Teppei did. Nevertheless, they offer a much wider variety of dishes for lunch and more space to cater for bigger groups so still a decent place for get-togethers.
Disclaimer: I do not eat vegetables and I always have to pick out every single piece of fibre from my food for the past 20 years BUT NOT IN THIS CASE. Well... I have to agree that Orchard Towers is quite a dodgy place at night. I got a shock during my first time there like "how in the world will anyone ever find their way here?!?!" I settled in with my friend and was still quite skeptical despite her disclaiming over and over again how it's the best Vietnamese restaurant ever. Believe me, I've never really been a fan of Vietnamese cuisine because of the excessive amount of vegetables found in every dish possible. Here, the shop owners (both Singaporeans) are really sweet and they address you by "sister" or "darling" HAHAHA. I tried the dry beef vermicelli and grilled chicken vermicelli ($5) and I think it's a tie between both!!! You're supposed to pour a generous amount of fish oil over the noodles + some chill. Mix it and enjoy the different textures and taste in your mouth. It's really savory and a taste which I've never tried before. I thoroughly enjoyed the sweetness of the beef, well seasoned grilled chicken and crunchiness of the vegetables coupled with the tasty noodles. There's also peanuts + shallots which makes the texture crunchier!!! Tip: the portions in the day time are larger than those served in the night time. Plus, expect a free soup/drink depending on the time of the day!!! :) I think it's the best and most underrated Vietnamese restaurant EVER. The fact that I can eat that thrice a week...pretty much proves my point.
Fresh, high quality and satisfying bowl of happiness!!! I think $18.90 for a lunch set which consists of the main course, mochi, soup and free flow of green tea is really super duper worth it - considering how some of the other items which I've tried were rather overpriced. I'll return over and over again π
Been dying to try Yoogane for a really long time and I FINALLY got to taste the goodness of this. Some say it can't be compared to the original ones in Korea, but honestly this is good enough π Might wanna order the one without the cheese on the side next time because it's not really worth it - the cheese ends up getting burnt and it's hard to scrape it out. Ordered the two person serving + additional rice cakes + the Kimchi pancake (which is amazing!!!!!!) It was more than enough for the stomachs for four because the portion is HUGE. We totally underestimated the rice cakes + ramen. I think the ramen could be slightly tastier? Yoogane is on the pricey side but I guess there's always a first time!
Arriving with strong smell of truffles, the exterior was crisp yet the inside was moist with melted cheese. While the last mouth melts away, you're left with a lingering truffle taste.
It maybe 500 calories a ball...... but 1 wouldn't hurt, right? π³
