Plates and plates of fried rice flying out from the kitchen but my craving fixed my eye onto one dish in the menu! Japanese Curry Rice! .
Big pieces of veg still visible in the slow stewed curry and releasing an aroma of spicy goodness. I don’t understand why it is so hard to find a decent Curry rice but this place is gooood. The pork was rather over fried but overall I loved it. .
Quick service. Busy lunch spot. A little confusing menu as I don’t know it is serving Taiwanese or Japanese food. .

A brave new gen used her grandmom braised duck recipe and opened this stall at lau Pa Sat (鸔同鸭讲). .
The base of the braised sauce was great. Good balance of sweet and herby flavor. The meat didn’t taste fatty. Maybe because of the rental, the portion was lesser than expected. .
Conclusion: Worth a visit. .

So the story go like this.
Me: I rarely find a stall which only sell chendol.
Auntie: Because the owner got another businesses. This place is just to show case the product.
Me: wah. šŸ¤‘

I really like this chendol as every component did its part. The sweetness was just right as it didn’t leave the palate tasting sour. The hint of saltiness in the coconut and gula melaka were great.

$8 a bowl of Unagi Don. The flavors were on the sweet side which made it easy to eat. Couldn’t taste the fattiness of the fish but expectation need adjusted as the price was pretty affordable. .
I would recommend their curry fried chicken rice and mentaiko sushi roll. Not a bad eat.

Jasmine Rice ($0.80) -
The rice was so fragrant that it could be finished by itself. Attractive color with an hint of coconut milk. However, I would prefer white rice as it would be a better option to pair with the other dishes. .
Hee Pio Soup ($10) -
Four meatballs, four quail eggs and four fish maw. The taste of the soup is refreshing and flavorful but the meatball really failed. The sense of the porky smell just turned the soup from positive ten points to negative five points. .
Chap Chye ($8) -
Really good dish. The cabbage wasn’t too soft and soaked up all the flavors from other ingredients. Looked very simple but difficult to achieve such standard. .
Sambal Udang ($12) -
The sambal is very good. I don’t know if the spices were hand pound but it was really well balance between spicy-ness and savory-ness. They didn’t open the back of the Prawns which made the sambal flavor only stay on the surface. .
Babi Pongteh ($12) -
Another must try dish. All thanks to the one person who decided to ā€œmarryā€ fermented soy bean sauce and pork belly. This place executed perfectly. The pork belly remained its shape and the fermented soy bean mellowed together as one. .
Assam Pedas ($20) -
At first the gravy was rather little. But the fish head was tender and the Assam has the right balance. Sooo goood. .
Sambal okra ($8) -
Steamed okra with sambal. Self explanatory dish. But this dish costed 8 dollars??
.
Overall experience. The timing and order of the dish was executed accurately. From 7pm to 9pm, they offered happy hour for $10 nett a pint. Service was pretty good. But the down side were their pricing and kitchen capacity.

Scallop, ladyfinger, green chili, ginkgo nut, rice and melon. .
Everything served was flown in from Japan directly. The food was directly seared by the scorching charcoal. Not only the intense heat removed any unwanted smell, it amplified the flavors from within. The Chef wisely used different ingredients to season the food perfectly. .
Their ala cartel menu might burn a hole in the wallet but I would recommend their Omakase menu to Sample most of their dish on their menu.

From left to right - Pumpkin Salad, aged bonito, wings, zucchini with sliced pork, shiitake and Sanma. .
Overall experience, the food tasted over seasoned but it was to pair the sake. Favorite dishes for round One are wings and zucchini. The zucchini tasted so good as it soaked up all the fattiness from the Belly. Then wings are super good too. Crispier than any random fried chicken.

Maybe because of the inflation, now one plain prata costed $1.50. 😱

Roast beef for savoriness and sweetness from French onion soup gravy. Very hard to finish by one but great to share. .

Duck Confit & Sun fried Tomato (RM 36)
My favorite dish. Good balance of acidity and fattiness. The spaghetti soaked up all the tastiness and so easy to eat. .
Butter Chicken Curry (RM 30)
Something which I would never order again. The rice was dry and the curry too little. The papadum was just to fill up the space. .
Golden Soft Shell Crab Spaghetti (RM 38)
Pretty good dish. The flavors were very addictive. Soft crab, salted egg yolk with curry leaves. Some combination just can’t go wrong.

Surprisingly good food by Nanjing Impressions. Other than it was a little salty for our Singaporean taste bud which would be best with their steamy white rice.
.
I felt the must order dish would be their braised duck, braised trotter and glutinous rice. .
Their duck wasn’t tough and packed with the braised sauce. Totally not fatty and perfectly chopped up. .
Braised trotter was more than good. Especially the side sauce was sichuan pepper. Tongue numbing taste which countered nicely with the fatty trotter. If there was be some cucumber to refresh the taste, it would be even better. .
The glutinous rice soaked up all the sauce from the braised pork belly and made the every grain of the rice so fragrant. If the steam basket was warmed up before serving, it will be the best dish of the day. .

After hearing so many good things about this place, my friend and me decided to give it a try. At 6:30pm, there were already a 30mins Q. .
Their premium chirashi had an 1:1 marinated fish to rice ratio. Very generous portion. .
Other than this, every thing else were just BAD. Rubbery seaweed roll, frozen scallop (I still bite into ice), tasteless tuna and tough tako. Because of this place, I wanted to come out with this hagstag -jiakatyourownrisk. Maybe the little eatery was overwhelmed by the crowd or my expectation was fixed too high but I would never go back there again.

Famous for their pancake. Thick and fluffy but the sweetness on this plate overwhelmed everything. Butterscotch, marshmallow and mascarpone! What a killer combo. An upside of this dish was that they provided a bottle of Noble Tuthilltown Bourbon Barrel Matured Maple Syrup. I didn’t know how famous was this maple syrup until I ask my friend, Google. An entire stick of vanilla stick inside the wax sealed bottle. .
Rather than going back for pancake, I would order an egg dish and pour some of that syrup on it. .
