Famous for serving up authentic Penang Nyonya delights, they are also popular for their irresistable set meals based on rice: the Aromatic Chicken Set, Acar Fish Set, Kari Hantu Set and Nyonya Fried Chicken Set. All of them cost RM19.00(except for the Acar Fish which costs RM20.60) and they include a protein dish, 2 side dishes and a bowl's worth of rice in the middle. I chose the Kari Hantu set today and I was quite elated with the generosity in regards to how much curry gravy they gave. You could smother your rice liberally, but not excessively with it. The beef was very good, tender and flavourful despite the deceptively simple appearance. You are given the option of a side of Ju Hu Char or Kerabu Pucuk Paku and I chose the former. The shredded radishes and carrots were a delicious accompaniment to the meal. Then there was the lorbak(halal of course) which was very tender, juicy and fresh. My parents prefer the Acar Fish Set as the tartness of the fish gravy is very appetising for them. The Pie Tee were quite good, with fresh vegetable ingredients, condiments and a light and crunchy shell. I would rate this a 9/10 because they also had good service and a clean, nostalgic ambience.

I tried out Chizu for the first time and I was quite surprised to see their minimalist drink menu. I think it was made that way so it's easier to make a decision and they can focus on a few excellent flavours instead of diluting it with too many choices. I tried their Season tea which indeed a flavour that changes with the seasons(this time it was Flower tea) and the cheese tea tasted pretty good. The cup and everything is pretty insta-worthy too. It's about RM9 is you prefer less cheese and RM11 if you want 'Super Flavour' which I presume is more cheese. They also have a modest selection of cheese drinks(which contain no caffeine), coffees and fruit teas as well. I would rate it 9/10 since purchasing with Favepay was seamless and easy and the staff were very helpful and the store was clean with a nice ambience.

There's this cool new fast food restaurant at 1 Utama using a revolutionary ordering system while serving up healthy food! This ordering system requires that you download Wechat(a free online chat app) and order using a special online menu set up in their restaurant chat. Once your order has been made, it is processed and you wait for your order to be ready. At this point, you will be notified when your order is ready and it can be collected at special windows at the front of the store with holographic displays! 😃✨As for the food, the main stars of their menu are healthy wholesome bowls of rice or millet, vegetarian protein and fresh vegetables 🥒🍆🌶🌽🥑. They also come with a special sauce depending on what flavour you choose. They also have a selection of tasty healthy burgers as well. My choice was the Green Curry Bowl which consists of Hericium Mushroom, Potato, Carrot, Tofu, Egg, Beancurd, Iceberg Lettuce, Cherry Tomatoes, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Edamame, Pumpkin Seeds, Almonds, Cashew Nuts and Green Curry Sauce. I also chose millet as my carb of choice. It was really tasty, filling and healthy! There was a promotion when I came here so I got a free cup of Tempura Mushrooms to munch on with my main meal. They were really delicious too!!! I would rate this 8/10 because while the food is delicious, and the menu is very health conscious, the new system they are using could be daunting and troublesome for some people, especially since some of us use Whatsapp, LINE or Telegram as our chat app of choice.

Since Anneh is in the midst of relocating, we've started going back to our usual haunt for great banana leaf rice and Indian food. The Curry Leaf is the Damansara Uptown outpost of the original in Seremban and instead of the 8 vegetable dishes given there, this outlet's version comes with 4. Fret not however as the same recipes and types of dishes served at Seremban are the same here. The dishes always rotate and there's usually one or two dishes that are new whenever we come here. The rice was alright and the dishes were delicious. You can opt for having chicken curry, fish curry or dhall ladled onto your rice or all three at once! The curries were somewhat too salty for me though. In a banana leaf rice meal, you are allowed an unlimited refill of your rice, dishes and curry(your mileage may vary/YMMV though). The atmosphere was quite nice too, with a bit of air conditioning to prevent stuffiness and clean tables and floors. Their chicken tandoori is good although somewhat salty and their butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and other cooked meat dishes are marvelous(especially the gravy)! I would also recommend the naan 😋I would rate this 8/10.

I know I'm late to the party for Mcdonald's Malaysia's Nasi Lemak Burger hype but there's no better time to make a national food-themed meal review than now! The Nasi Lemak burger from Mcdonald's Malaysia is a slightly reworked rendition of the Singaporean one, especially with the sambal formula being altered for Malaysian tastes. The burger itself consists of a juicy coconut-marinated chicken thigh deep fried with corn flakes topped with a fried egg, cucumbers, caramelised onions and a dollop of sweet sambal. My verdict? I have to say it smelled like an authentic Nasi Lemak when I opened the burger box. The burger looks somewhat bigger than the normal ones but the price is still rather steep. This is probably justified due to the ravenous demand for this burger. And I have to say I'm quite proud that every Mcdonald's outlet I went to never ran out of stock of this burger so that was very good! The chicken thigh was juicy and aromatic while the egg, cucumber and onions added some fresh tasty bulk to the burger. The sambal was sweet and slightly spicy, less spicy than other versions I've tasted but I understand why. This was meant to be tailored to most people in Malaysia, even those who do not prefer really spicy sambal. Plus, the subtle spicyness allows the spices of the sambal and the whole burger to come through when taking a bite. I would rate this 9/10 and this burger is available until the end of Ramadan(yay!) so why not have one now?(especially on this momentous occasion) I also had their Cendol Sundae Cone as a dessert and it was just as good as last year's.

I ate here before but I came here again to try out their Dragon Desire smoothie bowl. What caught my eye about this bowl is that unlike the other smoothie bowls, this one was served in an actual papaya! The smoothie bowl itself contains a special juice called Dragon Blast🐲💥, which is blended together with mango🍋, banana🍌 and Dragonfruit/pitaya 🐉. This base is then smothered with kiwi, blueberries, strawberries, granola, pumpkin seeds and cacao sprinkles! 😍😋 This entire dish looked as spectacular and instagrammable as advertised and what's even better is that it only costs RM1 more than their cheapest smoothie bowls(their mos expensive ones can cost more than RM20!) The smoothie and its fruity toppings tasted really good and fresh and I felt satisfied but not bloated. You can even eat the papaya bowl clean so it's really worth the price! I'd advise you to eat this after a light meal or on an empty stomach as it is filling and also that this particular item is quite limited so check in with their staff on when it might be available and come early(when I came, this one was the last papaya in stock for the day! 😱) I would rate this 8/10.

Yi Lin Delicacies is a restaurant famous for its preserved meat products such as lap cheong(preserved meat sausage). I originally wanted to order their famous Lap Mei Fan that keeps being advertised all over the mall but I didn't see that part of the menu and mistook the Claypot Chicken Rice for that instead(oh well 😅). The rice dish was cooked with a good amount of flavourful sauce that wasn't too dark and had some tasty chicken and their signature lap cheong on top. There was a generous sprinkling of scallions for a burst of colour and fresh flavour. The taste of it was pretty good, and the portion was quite generous too. I'd rate this place 8/10 as the ambience is a little noisy being an open-concept restaurant in the middle of the mall with not much boundaries between the customers and shoppers outside.

I had a craving for some yakisoba and Gindaco actually prepares a fresh version of it for you on their grill! It tastes sweet with a great umami flavour although I did feel like this was more veggie than noodle though 😢 The egg on top is definitely worth the extra RM3 as it's fluffy and still kind of wet 🥚🍳🤤The bonito flakes definitely contributed some extra umami to this dish! Their main specialty is takoyaki though so definitely check it out for that!

Not to be confused with the nearby Fong Lye Taiwan Fusion Cuisine Restaurant, this tea house serves up an mouth-watering variety of set meals inspired by Taiwanese cuisine. This is our favourite set meal at Fong Lye. The prawn and water chestnut rolls are always delightfully plump and delicious and the 'lu ro fan'(minced braised pork rice) is very authentically taiwanese. The side dishes and the soup accompany the meal well and they change frequently so you never get bored ordering a set meal here. You are definitely getting your money's worth here even though the prices have gone slightly higher over the years. The service is prompt and effective as usual and while it does get very crowded during peak hours and days, you should be able to get a seat after 15 minutes of waiting. I would rate this 9/10.

You can customise your drinks to have no added sugar or milk here which is super good. I tried the Fresh Kiss without sugar and it was quite citrusy and faintly tart with a hint of mint. There were some jelly bubbles in this drink which gave it a lovely texture! The Rooibos Spring Breeze had a multitude of floral and fruity flavours but I could pick up the lemon, peach and rose notes in it. An overall interesting experience and the staff and very good at explaining stuff to you and are quite friendly so I would rate this 10/10 for a new tea bar. Price per drink is around RM10-14.

The soup was very delicious and full of umami flavour and the noodles were soft and silky smooth. I also ate an egg tart(RM2.90 per tart) which was a nice finishing touch to the meal. I might come here again to try out their other foods as they are rather enticing and it's exciting to have a famous restaurant from Ipoh have their outpost so close to home!
