The weakest dish amongst the spread I had, considering the price tag. It was tasty, but the meat is sparse and carries quite a fair bit of fat. Controversially, my brother mentioned he had this dish before, and they usually serve 4 pieces rather than just a meagre 2 (he even showed me pictures from before). Perhaps they knew we were using the Burpple Promo and portioned accordingly, which wouldn’t have been cool I’d say.

Certainly better than your run the mill calamari sides. This was properly and consistently seasoned, with a chili padi-esque spice that makes the flavour very fragrant and delicious.

I was brought here by my colleagues and it was a fantastic recommendation. Like most have exclaimed, I will also weigh in that their noodles are incredibly fragrant and savoury. This is as wok-hey-ky as it gets trust me, and you’ll be wondering how they got it like that. The free flow soup that comes with in is very delicious as well. The only downside of this meal is the expensive price tag for something that usually runs much cheaper. Still, worth a try and for you to make your own verdict.

Even though, evidently, UNO Beef House is known for their steak cuts, their other western offerings are no slouch either. I know this because I’ve tried a fair amount of things on their menu. The cutlet here is sizable, crispy and immensely satisfying. This stall consistently puts out good grub at a reasonable fare and I’m always amazed by that.

Deep down, we all know the recipe of Shiok. Singaporeans sure love their sauces; drown your dish with some decadent mayonnaise-mentaiko concoction, aburi the salmon up and you’ll earn a snaking queue of customers. That being said, I’m still a sucker for this formula when executed well. The Shiok Maki satisfies with its strong flavours and tastiness. Biting into the fried ebi at the core of the sushi, doused with their signature sauce, accompanied with the crunchy pops of ebi on top, id say the collective experience is one of the most delicious experiences life has to offer.

Popped by on a Friday evening, and was really happy to see a live band playing some tunes. As per the reviews on Burpple, I ordered the hot favourite - the Wagyu Beef Cheeks for my main.

The portion is humongous, this particular cow must have some huge cheeks (I wonder which ones in particular) for they were certainly sizable and very very filling. And as advertised, the meat was indeed very tender and parts easily under the knife. However, there was a strong gaminess that accompanied the meat, and that may deter those who isn’t a fan of such a flavour. I, for one, was overpowered by the umami flavour and the sauce was pretty salty as well. To quell that, id suggest pairing it with the mash and roasted peppers at the side.

Don’t quite know where to begin for this, but wow. Finally understand what everyone was saying about not needing a knife, cause this has to be one of the most tender beef cheeks I’ve ever encountered 🤭🤭 Juicy and fork-level-easy tender, this is definitely a must try and still can’t get over how good this is?? Even the roasted peppers and olives on the side were delicious (I hate olives btw), with a normal side of mash. Only gripe would be that since it’s such an amazing dish, it’s only lacking that extra touch to the mashed potatoes to complete the perfection. Definitely do try especially when there’s eatigo 50% at dinnertime, and every other app possible like burpple/entertainer 👍🏻👍🏻

The pork cheek pasta ($23++) is hands down my favourite dish at Rookery - the pappardelle gives a good bite with its thickness, and the use of red wine in the tomato sauce gives it a delicious acidity that cuts through the starchy pasta. The pork is also incredibly well done! The bite sized pieces are tender and fall apart easily. The herbed breadcrumbs, parmesan and parsley sprinkled on top add a little dimension to the texture. A definite must-try!! 👍🏼🌟

Went with the regular beef patty burger at working titles new location, which is further down the haji stretch.

Fries kinda reminds me of Carl’s Jr - thick and chunky but the bite texture lacks consistency. The seasoning was pretty on point though.
The patty is juicy and respectable, but it’s just a tad bland, would have liked just a bit more salt and pepper to enhance the umami flavors of the minced meat. Moving onto the buns themselves, the moisture of the tomato slices actually disintegrated the bottom bun quite a bit, and nobody likes a soggy burger. They were nicely toasted, but I do wish the buns were substantial enough to not fall apart due to the contents of said burger. However, gripes aside, with the Burpple Beyond promo this nice little set only runs up to $7, so no complains about value here for sure.

Don Don is just heavensent for the people gymming around The Central area. Absolutely decent fare, especially when it’s past 10 where most of the offerings are 50% off. The lovely assortment featured here ain’t even $16 if I recall correctly

With the Burpple Beyond, this plate only runs up to a mere $7. The real star of this dish is the meatballs actually, they were pretty well done, with chestnut cubes stuffed in them for that delectable bite. The portion is quite nuts as well, a considerable amount of pasta sprinkled with assorted minced meat. Certainly worthwhile for the price paid.

Visited the new Two Men Bagel after their expansion of the store, with much more new seating spaces but boy was it still packed, the lunch queue was a 1/2hr wait. They also updated the menu, and I was recommended one of the staff to try this Shoreditch Bagel.

Coincidentally, I’ve been to the OG Shoreditch in London and had tried their famous salted beef bagel, so this particular bagel rendition had a lot to live up to personally. Happy to say, it was all kinds of delicious and the bagel stayed authentic and true to its roots.

The beef was piping hot and tender, so so tender really, it just peels off in your mouth as it is served in generous chunks. The lovely brisket was accompanied by sauerkraut and mustard, which packs quite a punch, a biting sting that takes a little getting used to but ultimately an acquired taste. Once you’ve fallen in love with that distinct flavour, you’ll reminisce that unique taste profile of the salted beef spicy mustard combo and it’s something everyone should give a try.
