Ordered the Roses & Lychee as well as the Garden City ($25 per drink)
Iām not an alcohol connoisseur so wonāt comment much on the drinks - they were nice haha
I would say the main selling point is the ambience. The place had great vibes, the menu was so cute and aesthetic, friendly staff, overall itās a lovely place to just hang out with friends at night and relax after a long day of work
Hana Bara ($18.80)
You wonāt be able to get such a premium-tasting chirashi don at this price point anywhere else. Pictured is the āminiā and yet the portion was still ridiculously generous! The assorted sashimi was definitely fresh and of good quality. Below it is fragrant japanese mushroom rice which was pretty unique. Only drawback for some people (not for me), would be that the edible flowers that decorate the bowl, though pretty, may rub off on the sashimi and give it a bit of a floral taste!
^thats the name of the dish because be prepared to really hunt for the chicken pieces! That said, at $19, I think the portion is okay. I would have appreciated if there was more chicken just because of how good it was. The chicken is fried perfectly. Itās crispy, tender, not oily, and leaves a slight tingly numbing feeling in your mouth from the mala spices. Itās only a little so non-spicy eaters would be able to try this as well - just avoid the chillies!
Burratine & Tomato ($26):
Something about burratine paired with sichuan sesame dressing just didnāt work for me. The dressing was overpowering and just an odd combination. Birds of a Feather has done really well with their fusion concept for other dishes but this was a miss!
Pork dumplings with Sichuan dressing, sage foam, butternut purƩe, almond bits, and fried sage ($17):
You can literally taste everything at once if you scoop up everything and put the whole dumpling in your mouth with all the sauce. Itās juicy, salty, spicy, sweet, sour⦠I could go on and on. So many flavours and textures happening together like a symphony! Best dumpling Iāve had.
IKO rolls with creamy foie gras, mushroom, and fig, sprinkled with seaweed. Unfortunately it was supposed to come with truffle shavings as well which they had run out of. The sushi was one creamy yummy mouthful, but Iād recommend adding an ingredient that would give it a bit of a crunch to elevate this even more!
The Classic ($16) made using the Impossible plant-based patty, together with your standard American cheeseburger ingredients of cheese, pickles, onions, and their house sauce.
This was my first time trying Impossible meat and I was truly surprised. If you hadnāt told me it wasnāt real meat I definitely would have thought it was beef!
Black pepper crab roll ($18) by Rappu:
Fried seaweed tempura was crispy, and crab meat is well seasoned and yummy!
The roll itself is tiny but Iād say they were pretty generous with the crab meat and itās delicious too so itās worth it!
Hoping Rappu could bring this to their restaurant menu too
Iberico chorizo, confit potato, and soft eggs:
The waiter will help to mix it all together to be eaten as a dip together with the bread. Canāt go wrong with sausages, potato, and eggs so it made a nice tapas. Wouldnāt order again though because Iād like to try more interesting dishes :)
Croquettes (2x crab and 2x jamon iberico):
The perfect comfort food. The croquettes were of just the right soul-warming temperature, gooey and delicious, and had a surprising smoky element to it!
My favourite dish of the night despite its simple appearance!
Squid ink paella:
Rice was nicely cooked, not too wet nor too dry! Though it could have been more flavourful. I am usually not a fan of squid because of how tough it can be, but the seafood here was all fresh and perfectly chewy.
Creamy chicken scrambled egg crossaint:
Eggs were warm and fluffy and flavourful! The cream sauce with mushrooms and chicken were tasty too but could have been more generous with the serving. Crossaint was buttery and crispy and stayed crispy throughout the meal! Overall am satisfied with this dish
Ikura kombu capellini:
Looked really appetising and packs a punch in flavour.
All the elements come together to create an umami explosion! It is pleasantly spicy but does get a little too salty halfway through the meal so Iād recommend it for sharing
Pizza crust was extremely thick at the ends which made it very filling for our stomachs as there was so much bread. Buratta pizza was pretty bland, the tomato paste used was not very flavourful.
The Gnocchi in pesto sauce was alright though.
Overall not worth the amount spent! ($97)
āDominoās would have been better!ā -nerissa
Fiery Chic Bolognese - $7.80 (bestseller)
Heavenly Yuzu Crab -$8.80
Delicious value for money hotdogs! The bolognese one is everything you could expect from a classic Coney Island hotdog. Has some jalapeƱos too which gave it a nice mildly spicy kick.
The yuzu crab one uses real crab! (At least it tasted like real crab to us) At this price point it was definitely surprising. Would recommend this if youāre feeling more adventurous as the hotdog is definitely different- it has a slight citrus taste from the yuzu and also a few pomegranate seeds inside which gives a little juicy burst when you take a mouthful.
We were happy to find out they included tortilla chips too. Purchased a cheese dip for $2 and it was very generous in portion (not pictured)
