A cool cool day to slurp a broth that was sour and spicy with a touch of smokyness exuding from the barramundi. Warm and fuzzy feels!

KL's popular @gonoodlehousesg landed on our sunny shore..... well, it has been rainy and cold recently.

A must order is the signature bursting meatball noodle soup. I wont go into deets but I should think the name speaks for itself. From handmade ngoh hiang, frog leg noodles to dry pan mee, there bound to be noods for everyone. If you love soup like I do, this will put a smile on the belly. Boiled for many hours using 40 types of fish bones.

With gloomy weather in the horizon, under the weather feels or in the soupy mood, this is indeed a warm and fuzzy comforting meal. A worthy visit.

Sakoshi Bay oysters topped with tobiko, grated radish. Fresh and juicy with none of that grimy taste. A nice touch of sprinkling of edible chrysanthemum petals. Unagi eel roll bears that slight smoky tone. Who can refuse wagyu especially when it was torched right before your eyes? The marbling really lights up the palate. This sushi box was humongous. Make sure you are hungry if you should order. But I still prefer the omakase sushi. Manageable quantity and slightly more umami than the sushi box.

I was wowed by the pesto pasta bursting with a slight citrussy tone and a addictive nuttyness. The brussel sprouts is a must order. Tossed in a pomegranate molasses dressing which was simply delish. Italian inspired mains that will certainly whet the appetite. And dont forget to end with something sweet, I recommend the Gianduja semifredo.

A 3-course set lunch. Appetizer of cold soba and black cod was certainly a pretty sight. Atad salty but quite refreshing. Pretty nice touch of providing the orange foam as a palate cleanser before the main. Main was seared flounder lying on a bed of cauliflower puree. First time trying flounder. Flesh was indeed sweet and big love for the creamy puree. Dessert of the day was fruit cake. But I had sorbet and raspberry. Tangy and citrussy. So good.

A big thank you to the chef for replacing the fruit cake (because I cant take cinnamon) with sorbet. If only I could taste the other menu items as all sounded so yummy. Fantastic service! I certainly had a jolly time. Who said eating alone is boring?

Known for their "lok lok", similar to steamboat except the ingredients come in sticks. I reckon satay beehoon is somewhat like a side dish as most customers does the "lok lok".

Zul's satay pizza ($21) topped with chicken and beef satay. Tasted exactly like satay on a stick except this was on crisp dough. So good!

Signature house hokkien mee ($13). Sweet tones of seafood jus. Just abit more wokhei and this could be a winner. A must order is the crabmeat fried rice ($13). Abundant crab claw flesh and garnished with tobiko and flying fish roe. For the "meatarians", this big meat platter consisting of beef, lamb chops, satay might just satisfy your protein cravings.

@thegong is by @drinksand co . Centrally located just above the bugis downtown line, it is definitely a chill-lax place to unwind with plenty of drinks and good food.

I think this is relatively an unknown, at least to me. And blur me forgot to note down the name.

To my surprise, I did enjoy the noodles. Sauce was flavorful with a hint of sweetness and chilli has that right heat. Charsiew was charred at the edges. What hit me was that touch of smokeyness exuding out from the charsiew. It certainly brought out the sweet tones of the roasted charsiew.

I am surrounded by wanton mee stalls in my neighborhood. Spoilt for choice, really. But I am not complaining. Do you know of any other wanton mee stalls that is worth trying? Give me a holler and I might just traipse there.

Specialising in soba. Managed by an elderly couple.

Deep dark robust flavorful broth with a hint of seafood jus. A very smooth taste. Soba was fresh and cooked to perfection. The saba (mackerel) grilled just right. There must be some special marinade that caused the saba to be in deep black color. Amazingly delicious!
