Been patronising this place since I was a kid and glad that it's still around after all these years. Differentiating itself from the usual peppery version, the broth has the dang gui (angelica sinensis) herbal taste to it, so it delivers a strong punch of flavour with each mouthful!

The soy sauce is derived from a shoyu brewery in Wakayama where it is extracted from two years' fully matured soybeans. Blended with asari clams and chicken stock, we found the broth well balanced though it might lack depth for some. Nonetheless the springy soba noodles with that uniformly sliced tender char siew made my day.

One of the signatures, this medium-rare onglet was melt-in-your-mouth tender with perfectly charred burnt ends. The robust flavoured gravy carried a hint of sweetness only to have the acidity of the accompanying salad cut through beautifully to give a balanced after taste. If that is not enough indulgence, how about some bone marrow to top it off?

Loved the luxurious butter which gave a nice and moist texture to it. The perfectly baked crust also juxtaposed the delicately sculpted vanilla creme (so pure that you could spot the pods!) that sits atop!

Enjoyed the delicate fish that was wrapped with a layer of turkey bacon before being coated with a crisp batter. The spicy sauce drizzled atop made all the difference with a nice tang. Add in those crispy fries, hard to resist.
