The noodles were slightly thick, really chewy with good bite. Base sauce was on sweeter side and was slightly smoky from the chasiu. I also really liked the crunch from the spring onions, leeks, and bamboo shoots. Of course the star was the delectable smoky chasiu. So addictive!

I've lived in Singapore for 13 years now but I had never developed a liking for hokkien mee. I always thought it's too wet and soft, not a lot of flavours, and the chilli paste is often smelly and not spicy. That is until I tried this hokkien mee from Yong Huat!
I've been to Yong Huat before to try out their fishball noodles and char kway teow, but always shied away from hokkien mee due to my dislike. I was still a bit skeptical but then I'm glad I tried it out! It was rich and refreshing at the same time. The lime really made a difference. Chilli sauce was flavourful even though not that spicy. Definitely lots of wok hei, smoky and so satisfying! Now time to try other hokkien mee places...

Hard to find similar style to this. The noodles were a bit more wet rather than oily. I even think the base sauce was a bit thick, almost like thick gravy? The char siew was chopped into small pieces rather than to uniform size of pieces. And then they were drenched in savoury and herbal char siew sauce. Chilli sauce (bottom left) was also a bit more chunky than other places' and with a good kick.
Taste wise really great with a lot of different layers. Definitely worth the trek to try it out!

I have been coming here for maybe a decade and they're generally always good. The curly noodles were coated well with fragrant oil and the minced meat topping lent a bit of sweetness that elevated the savoury base. Aside from that there were char siew, prawns, and wantons. All really good. Anoth special thing about this place is their thick chunky chilli paste. They're not too spicy but has great taste.
I recommend to order dry wanton (not boiled, not fried, but tossed in oil and topped with shallots) as side dish to share. Yum!
I have come here so many times over the years and I will continue to do so!

I was unsure about posting this because it's not really a noodle dish but hey it has fried beehoon and this wu xiang is really good! The items are freshly fried and the very nice proprietress is always smiley and she can fry any items you want even if the items are not displayed. Fried bee hoon is not clumpy and adequately spiced. The accompanying chilli sauce is great and addictive. I always ask for extra lol. They're only open at nights so it's perfect for supper or late night cravings.

I chose dumpling noodles instead of my usual wanton noodles. The dumplings were packed with juicy ingredients and a lot of flavours. Of course I can't get over how well their base sauce goes for everything!
Though I think next time I'll go back to my usual wanton mee as it has more variety of ingredients i.e. char siew, wantons, and fried wantons. And of course topped with a generous serving of crispy pork lard!

That time around though I decided to try out their stir fry dish. And I decided on yellow noodles stir fry (they had other noodle options too).
I think it was executed well. I was a bit worried that it'd be a little bland but that was unfounded. It was evenly spiced and not too greasy. The beef was tender and not too chewy. Overall a good alternative to the usual order.

The ee mian was great tasting but I think I chose the wrong toppings. The dumplings were small and they had too strong ginger taste which I didn't fancy. Chilli was fresh and good. Anchovies and fried onions on top were good too. I really think I should try their other offerings, this place definitely has potential but I somehow ordered the wrong thing.

Overall really good bowl. Sauce was great and chilli was punchy. Noodles were coated nicely and all the toppings were decent. Special shout out to their really tasty soup which also had a lot of cilantro put in which I luuuurve. Now I know not everyone likes cilantro, but to me it was such a refreshing layer on top of the rich noodles.
So many more stalls to try!

This place is actually more famous for its tempura bowls but the ramen had 1-for-1 promotion by @burpple sooooo.. Noodles were quite thick and so was the broth. Each scoop to my mouth was a bundle of flavours (and sodium). Besides the chasiu, there was a scoop of spicy minced meat which I quite enjoyed. Overall a very decent ramen bowl but honestly, not sure I'd be back to have it if it doesn't have the promotion.

I usually like my noodle bowls "dry" without soup. When I got to this place though, I decided to just go with what they recommended (or rather what they first asked me). I figured it'd be the popular choice. So I got soup version with a mix of yellow noodles and bee hoon. This proved to be a winning combination - the yellow noodles had a good bite while the bee hoon absorbed the broth well. The broth was rich and robust. It was not as sweet as other prawn broths that I have had - a little more balanced with some porky and peppery flavour. However since I like spicy food in general, this wasn't spicy enough for me. I think next time I'd try the dry version with chilli paste added in. That's not to say it wasn't good though. On the contrary - it was homely and so comforting. Perfect for breakfast. (And they're only open during mornings anyway)
