Tried: Salmon &spinach cream omu + Pork burger demiglace omu (lava egg)
The tomato rice beneath the egg is stir fried with chicken &mushrooms. Really tasty and goes well with the creamy sauce! The demoglace one was way too sweet for my liking. Pork burger/patty is pretty good, having a light grilled scent to it. The lava egg met my expectations of being creamy and so instaworthy!
Both plates are at about $12.80 each. Top-up of $2 if you want the omu to be done lava-style.
YAY, MY FAV LORBAKPNG STALL HAS SHIFTED FROM SEAH IM HAWKER TO A SPACE OF ITS OWN AT LAVENDER!
Went on a Saturday &it's pretty crowded. We waited for about 15min before getting a table indoors (to escape from the unbearable heat!). The menu has some added items like the chicken rice, taiwanese sausage &bbt!
We got the 3 bowls set ($15) which comprises of a mini lorbakpng, chicken rice, mee sua &a drink of your choice! We chose the brown sugar fresh milk which is stated as äșșæ°! Also, another lorbakpng set ($8) which has a regular bowl + braised cabbage. Food were served pretty fast, all within 10 min.
The lorbakpng is still as gooooooood! The pork has a good ratio of fats that melts in the mouth yet isnt too greasy. The flavours pack a whole lot of punch. That braised goodnesssss~ Rice is soft and fluffy, just give that bowl a good stir &send spoonfuls of yummy goodness down!! (Personally, i prefer to request for more spring onions to make it perfect!) I would suggest getting a mini bowl if you're getting sides to go along. The regular bowl may not seem big, but it gets really filling. Cabbage is well braised &completely nua like how i like it. But flavour wise, pretty flat &so-so. So was the brown sugar fresh milk; lacked the scent of brown sugar. Pearls were chewy thou!
Two other stars of the meal were the meesua &the rather unassuming chicken rice! The meesua tasted like they're handmade (reminds me of ahzong) &their pig intestines were sooo goood (brings ahzong's to shame cos theirs are like rubber tyres)! Oyster was alil overcooked, hence didn't burst in the mouth. That chicken rice looked so plain.. BUT ITS LIGHT FLAVOURS WERE WELL-LIKED. Quite a huge contrast to lorbakpng with strong flavours but do give it a try! The chicken shreds were tender and exudes a light scent with the browned onions.
No service charge &gst too! Go get going!
A halal chinese la mian place! (Another one that i know of is Yizun Noodle.)
The portion is generous and can be shared between 2 girls of small appetite. Tried the zhajiangmian &it does not pack as much punch as i was expecting. Less salt definitely which is healthy. The meat sauce has cubes of carrots, potatoes &radish. Wishing that it comes with shredded cucumbers too (really love it cos it pairs so well with the thick gooey gravy, giving a refreshing crunch). Nothing much to shout about Nuodle's version. Noodles are okay but could be more QQ.
As for the seafood noodles, the soup is quite light &tasty. The soup that accompanies the zhajiangmian has a light herbal taste too.
Priced at around $10, i guess i would prefer other lamian stalls..
Hola! The big breakfast pan is definitely a meaty meal to kickstart your day! It comprises 2 juicy chorizo sausages, several slices of bacon, shrooms, about half a baked avocado, baked tomatoes (yayyy love baked ones cos they burst when you bite into them!), rye bread (if i didnt guess it wrongly) & served with your choice of eggs. The avocado was smooth &creamy, spread really well on the bread! As it's baked, a side of it was charred but ohwell, i dont mind and it exuded that charming scent of grilled/burnt food :p The scrambled eggs looked a tad dry on the outside, but they tasted fine. Could be alittle more creamy &moist, but that's bcos I'm really picky with scrambled eggs.
Flat White was decent while the avocado smoothie was pretty passable.
We also tried the Thai glass noodle chicken salad. It's too sweet for my liking! It could be more tangy &refreshing. However, the saving grace was prolly the tenderness of the chicken. When served, the bowl's exterior has some sauce &chicken fats.. I trust that they could have done a better job at this.
I like the ambience of the place. But $28 for the big breakfast is alittle steep. Service staff could be more attentive &well trained too. If you need good food, skip this. If you want somewhere with nice ambience, go try it!
Tried: Kimchi Mac &Cheese, Korean Seafood Ciopinno & Striploin Bap.
Korean food has always come across as a cuisine that's rich in flavours for me. The fusion food has a much mellowed down taste. That said, the dishes are still well-prepared and portions are pretty good for sharing. The food each has an interesting twist to the otherwise usual korean/western dish - e.g. striploin instead of the usual stir fried pork in your bibimbap, and kimchi in the mac & cheese balls! I would say that the menu is quite a novelty!
The price of the barachirashi don is $14.9 while that of the pork belly one is $10.9.
The flavours are kept light, with fresh ingredients served. Compared to sushiro, the fish cubes here are smaller in size. So if you're a fan of finely cubed sashimi, this may be the place for you. Rice is not as strong in vinegar as well. Personally, i prefer Sushiro with the stronger flavours &chunky fish!
Go give it a try, especially with Burpple Beyond's 1 for 1 deal! It makes the meal realllyyyyy affordable.
There's a whole lot of different jjampongs served here! Tried 4 of 'em - Ro PPong (in photo), Tae Ppong, Vongole Ppong &Cha Ppong! The portions are pretty substantial. These 4 bowls of noodles filled up the tummies of 5 girls! Each flavour garnered individual likes for them. No letdowns! The noodles were slightly chewy &coated the creamy/gooey sauces particularly well.
We also got the Lychee Yoghurt Slushie which was a perfect thirst quencher in washing all the rich flavours down. It's really value for money with 1 for 1 on Burpple Beyond!
It's a hugee safari tent, with tables scattered under. The rugs and wooden furniture fill the place with a really cosy vibe. Although the main seating area isnt air conditioned, they've proper ventilation and cooling fans in place. Their croissant is good as usual cos TBB'S CROISSANTS NV DISAPPOINT! the quiche was alittle too dry and the lemon tart was too flowy. the tart shells were good though! Decided to be alittle fancy and had the bluebell flower latte. So pretty to look at but it tasted like my fav jap soymilk from donki. No espresso shot in it so fyi if you're needing that caffeine kick!
âïž That's all the ingredients in a cup of Tiger Sugar! You cant customise the sugar nor ice level.
Usually, i drink bbt with 0% sugar &surprisingly, this one's not too sweet to the point that i cant accept. What hits me first was the scent of the brown sugar, followed by milk, milk &more milk. FYI this drink does not contain tea. Having both boba (big pearls) and pearls (mini pearls) together in the cup gives every slurp an interesting chew!
The queue is now just about 15min (from queuing to getting the drink in my hands) during lunch time on weekdays. Do go try it if you haven't! But at the price of $5.30, it'll prolly just be a check off my bucket list. KOI FAN FOREVER! (okay, mayb MUYOO too heh)
THE COLD CRAB WAS DELICIOUS! The roe was of an exceptional texture, not the usual dry/powdery kind. It's creamier and has a much lighter "fishy" taste (as some may call it). As it's served cold, it makes a really good &refreshing appetizer. Flesh is sweet and chunky despite the relatively smaller size of the crustacean (as compared to sri lankan mud crabs).
The other dishes like the braised duck &chilled wine prawns equally deserve a double thumbs-up! Every dish feels like they've been carefully prepared. Get chope vouchers to get bang for your buck! #Burpple pls get them on Beyond!
The matcha in the tart is rich, not too sweet and the slight bitterness in the flavour is well balanced out with the sweetness of the pastry. Do give the nitro matcha a try! It's better than Tsujiri's imo.
