Scooping some matcha powder and putting into a small bowl, the staff began whisking the powder with some water (i think it's water?). They do it like it's ceremonial tea, whisking it til it's all smooth. The rich matcha is then poured over a cup of fresh milk.

Give it a good stir &there you go, my current favourite matcha latte.

If you're at the 313 outlet, do order their Yuki Matcha Latte. It somehow tasted richer (more gao) than the matcha latte i had at Chijmes (note: there's no choice of matcha at Chijmes).

1 for 1 on Burpple Beyond!

Great to fill me up post-exercise. The size of this bowl is pretty much substantial as a meal replacement. It's loaded with lotsa fruits &nuts (think walnuts, pumpkin seeds, chia seeds, banana, strawberries kiwis etc) Most importantly, it is much less sweet as compared to Project Acai. But ofcos, it gives less of a sugar rush too. I'm guessing that they don't add apple juice to the acai blend and hence the reduction in sweetness.

Their chocolate muffin is generously loaded with lotsa chocolate chips!! The muffin top is crusty and gives such decadence when you bite it off. It's almost like the edges of a crispy cookie. mhmmmmm~

Sink your bite deeper into the pastry and you'll find some molten chocolate chips giving it a lil gooey and rich flavour.

&Le boyfriend rated this as the Number 1. Chocolate Muffin in his heart.

$2.80 may seem alil steep but boy, it's so worth it cos of the chocolate spammm!

It's located at a coffeeshop beside De Yi Secondary School.

The porridge tastes pretty smooth and flavoursome but sadly, turned watery while we're eating halfway through. 粥出水了..

Also felt rather thirsty after eating. But their fish porridge is commendable. They use mackerel fish instead of the cheaper snakeheads! I've never had mackerel porridge before &i would say it's quite a wise choice to use this fish cos of it's sweetness and firm texture (wouldn't get disintegrated easily!)

The egg noodles and bright red charsiew just reminds me of the old school wanton mee! The flavour of soy sauce was bright and yet not too salty.

On a whole, it's just a classic but at a price of $4.50 for the small plate. Medium's at $5.50

OMGGG *CRINGE* Would you pls look at how ace their packaging is? They've a really cute paperbag with comic drawings of some animal characters. Also, they even have customised boxes for their single cake slice! It's just so aesthetically pleasinggg.

The lychee flavour was prominent but doesn't scream right in your face. It retains that light fruity flavour and I like that it isnt drowned in sugar. We ate it right away and found the cake kind of frosty? Not sure if it's meant to be eaten frozen or thawed. I couldn't quite taste the martini as well but.. i really like the looks and lychee flavour of this cake!

It's $6.9 for this slice.

Lunch Set: Sweet & Sour Pork (S) + a Half Jajangmyeon & Half Jjampong [$42++]

They serve food pretty fast so that's great for h(angry) men. The sweet &sour gravy is served in a separate bowl from the plate of fried pork. The strong smell of vinegar intrudes your nasal path and goes all the way up! Jang, you'll be thinking why is this dish their signature when it smells kinda bad.

But wow, when our teeth sank into the pork chop (yes they taste like pork chop coated in a thin batter!! score points for zero clots of fats, zero grease and such tender meat!), we were pleasantly amazed. The sweetness of this dish came from the pork. While the sour vinegar taste got instantly balanced out. The gravy has quite a thick yet smooth consistency (think: goooey) which coats the meat really well.

The jajangmyeon has lotsa onions in them which makes it so fragrant! The texture of the noodles were al dente. I could do with even more chew thou! But hey, that's just my personal preference. My friend commented that this Jajangmyeon was the closest she could get to the ones she had in Korea. I can't even recall how Jajangmyeon in Korea tasted like.. It's been too long!

Jjampong features the same noodles but in a seafood soup. The soup is quite nice and doesn't taste like the usual instant korean noodles soup base. It has a stronger seafood flavour to it.

Go give this place a try, the sweet and sour pork is nothing like the typical tze char's rendition (:

LO &BEHOLD..

WE'VE MSW STICKY RICE! not your usual mango sticky rice! Featuring a butterfly pea rice that's not that sticky, not drowned in coconut milk and still has distinctive bite of each grain without being too hard! It's topped with a MASSIVE tower of MSW! Rice : MSW ratio is prolly 1:1. The durian flesh is pure and you could taste the fibre in them. Bitter, with a tinge of sweetness and fragrance from both the fruit and those black sesame atop.

It wasn't love at first bite, but definitely got us hooked. We polished the cup clean!

We've tried so many different items on their menu - grilled kurobuta pork collar, grilled chicken wings, tom yum goong, lychee + roast duck red curry, red curry with crab, som tam etc..

&boy, WE'VE NV BEEN DISAPPOINTED. NOT EVEN ONCE.

Their dishes exude multidimensional flavours. Even a simple looking mango salad can blow you off with that mega fragrant fried dried shrimps + roasted peanuts. It's never just a flat 1D taste! Highly recommend their red curries and soup. They go so well with thai hom li rice and you'll easily find yourself getting second servings of rice.

We caught an old couple beside us trying their crab springrolls. Shortly after, they ordered a second portion of the same thing!! I CANT WAIT TO TRY IT ON MY NEXT VISIT!

Tip: Prices here are really steep as compared to the usual casual thai restaurants. But the good ambience and fluffy pillows to lean against justify it somehow. Good food of course makes me go back again &again. Buy chope vouchers when they're on sale! Or simply, redeem your chope dollars. Hey Burpple Beyond, pls get Sawadee Thai onboard! (;

Pho Street has been my to-go place whenever i crave for vietnamese noodles in sg. They had this seasonal item - prawn noodles some time back.

Served in a bowl of spicy soup, with flat yellow noodles, soft braised pork ribs, prawns &topped with a sesame rice crisp. That soup has a burst of unami flavours - a spicy kick, sweetness from the ingredients &a savoury finish!! Soak that rice crisp till the very end and it will turn slightly soggy but ohsogoooood.

Missing this dish a whole lot &really hope that they will feature this on this menu permanently! Go try it if you see them selling this again!

They serve handmade pasta noodles (yay). Handmade ones always taste better cos they're fresh and has a better chew to it.

The noodles are tossed in a savoury crab sauce. The sauce exerts a light sweet taste from the chunks of crabmeat! Two thumbs up for this dish. A tip would be to share this dish with another friend as it's quite creamy.

Do get the calamari with charcoal mayo dip too! Fresh, chewy squid coated with a thin layer of batter. Squeeze the lemon and dip it into the charcoal mayo, YUMMY.

The kways are curled up like small short spring rolls. As such, it tastes thicker and slightly chewy compared to the usual chinese style kway.

The broth is slightly herbal-ish and makes the dish so great for supper! The thai fish sausages and siobak makes the meal complete. Savoury and fragrant, while that bowl of comforting soup just make you wanna slurp it all up in a cold, rainy night.
