Finally laid my hands on brotherbird’s croissants!! Truly a good croissant with many flaky layers and the crunchiness of the exterior went well with the inner smooth nutella filling. They were not stingy at all with the filling but I do wish it was a little less sweet - perhaps a darker chocolate hazelnut filling?
Got this for takeaway but I know I’ll be back to just chill in this cafe :)
Amazing deal with burpple beyond!!! Just $13 per pax for a main and drink!
Bagel set ($14) came with a cinnamon raisin bagel (served warm, crispy on the outside and dense inside!), 3 slices of smoked salmon, scrambled eggs and a side serving of salad - beef/lamb sausage were an add on for $4. I like how each portion were just right for me to construct each mouthful of different sides. Only thing was I thought the sausage had a overly strong beefy smell... but the lamb sausage was fine.
Location wise, it’s just a short walk away from Lavendar mrt station. Cafe has free wifi too so we saw people doing work here too.
Parma ham and rocket with dollops of fresh buffalo mozzarella on sourdough pizza base. The buffalo mozzarella was a good addition, not too strong but surely very creamy and decadent.
La Forketta is situated in a quiet corner of Dempsey hill. In these covid times where travel is restricted, if you just exercise some imagination, you can almost picture yourself having Italian food overseas 😅
It’s rare to have sliced black Angus beef atop pizza but the combination of flavourful grilled meat with parmesan, rosemary and rocket really did work! I enjoyed the thin sourdough base too ☺️
This restaurant has got to be one of the best kept zichar secrets in the north! This dish consisted of cod fish, lightly battered and silky soft homemade tofu cubes immersed in a thick sauce and served bubbling in a claypot. Super yummy cos there was a mild charred/wok hei taste to the sauce that helped the sweetness of the cod fish stand out even more.
Don’t let the location of this place daunt you!!! It’s truly worthy zichar and my family really likes the friendly service they provide here. Pro tip: This was part of their CNY festive menu but they do have a similar dish on their regular menu except without the Chinese leek!
Good variety of ingredients in this pot including silver fish, youtiao, sliced fish, peanuts and cuttlefish. Nothing to shout about but still a good bowl of thick and smooth congee with eatigo 50% off!
Eatigo 50% on a weekday made this a super worthwhile lunch treat! Chicken chunks (including 2 chicken drumsticks!!), carrots, black fungus and juicy onions in a thick savoury broth, served still bubbling in a claypot. Yumz 😋
Pulled pork and perfectly poached eggs (ultra flowy centre!!) drizzled with hollandaise atop two thick Hokkaido brioche toasts + a side serving of white bean tomato salad. The pulled pork was on the sweeter side so I appreciated that it was paired with the thicker, fluffier Hokkaido brioche to balance out the flavours. And just in case you need some flavours to complement the dish and give an added spicy kick at the same time, the salsa sauce served separately just does the trick.
Pro tip: Came in the evening around 6.45pm and snagged a nice, cozy window seat. It was an idyllic evening date made super affordable with burpple beyond ☺️☺️
Sourdough rye toast spread with a thick and smooth layer of avocado, topped with smoked salmon and poached eggs 😋 I liked the fine touches like the crushed pistachio and pesto sauce (which had chopped nuts in it too!!) that helped this dish stand out from the regular avo eggs bennies.
Super awesome deal with burpple beyond. This is one cafe I’ll be back for sure! 👍🏼👍🏼
This is my second favourite out of the 4 desserts we ordered! My favourite is actually the salted caramel French toast but sadly, we devoured it so quickly that no photo could be taken HAHA (but please do yourself a favour and order it!!) The waffle here was thick and crispy on the outside but still fluffy inside. Unlike all the other desserts, this had 2 scoops of ice cream which in my opinion, is more optimal so you can have a bit of ice cream with every bite of waffle 😊
This complemented the other sweeter desserts we had ordered with a slight touch of sourness. I liked that there was a generous serving of blueberries and strawberries but the waffle here somehow wasn’t as crispy as the other in our chocolate and banana waffle.
Ordered this as part of the BB high tea set (1 sweet dessert + 1 drink, one for one!). It came as a stack of 3 pancakes topped with matcha mousse and served with whipped cream and a scoop of vanilla ice cream (hiding behind!!) Although it appears super aesthetic, somehow the matcha mousse was lacking in any real matcha flavour. I much preferred having the pancakes with the ice cream and matcha sauce on the side.
