@timchee and I decided to bring his mother, @cheangeelim to @artichoke_sg for Mother's Day Brunch. 😊. 🍴
Lamb shashouka was well balanced with the tanginess from the tomatoes & yoghurt and tenderness of the lamb. Imam bayildi (Grilled eggplant, halloumi and kranji Mushrooms ) it has a super good sauce that goes w it. Maple glazed bacon and crab pate toast. Rye bread was a bit too hard. But crab was delicious and maple glazed bacon was a bit like maple glazed ham. 😋 🍴
Overall good experience at @artichoke_sg , although there was a strange pair of customers that insisted on taking our corner table. We relented to being shifted (since the sun was so glaring at the seat anyway 😂). But kudos to them for offering our coffee to be on the house when we agreed to be shifted. 😄

Never ever go to Artichoke for dinner and not order their Hot Skillet Prawns. It's sacrilegious.
This long-time bestseller of theirs has been tweaked of late, and now comes with a few large prawns (it used to be two massive ones). Which makes it a lot easier to share. But to be honest, I love having an entire serving all to myself. And I never fail to get a side of warm pita bread to mop up every drop of the hot and insanely tasty green harissa cream sauce.

A healthy and fulfilling bowl made up mainly of thyme seared wagyu beef, quinoa, bulgar wheat and pearly barley with hearty servings of grilled furikake baby corn, roasted butternut squash and L&P mixed mushrooms (which I enjoyed the most). You can then order their Truffle Fries with Parmesan Cheese, S$12, to balance out all that health food.

Tucked away on the first floor of Sunshine Plaza, District Sushi serves up some seriously delish AND affordable Japanese — $10 Bara Chirashi Don anyone? Considering the amount of fresh seafood that the rice bowl comes topped with, this could possibly be the most value for money version we've tried. Along with cooked prawns, the fish cubes are chunky and fresh, and tossed in a slightly sweet marinade (nothing a trickle of soy sauce won't fix, says Burppler Muriel A). You might be tempted to upsize to the Premium Bara Chirashi Don, but the $10 portion should satisfy regular appetites. If you're not into raw seafood, you'll find equally tasty $10 bowls in the donburi section: both the Salmon Mentaiyaki Donburi ($10) and Aburi Duck Teriyaki + Onsen Egg ($10) have our nods of approval.
Avg price: $10

These can easily fuel you for the weekend.
My fave is the “Idle Tongue” ($21++) which has slices of pickled ox tongue (this tastes a lot like corned beef which I love), two poached eggs on brioche toast, potato croquettes, pickled onions and some salad.
If you prefer other kinds of meat, the “Feed Me Breakfast” ($24++) has a juicy sausage and bacon instead. They are presented with two eggs (cooked the way you prefer), mushroom, spinach, tomatoes, crispy potato rosti and tangy bulldog sauce.

Beautiful mess with the combination of sweet and salty taste! 🤤

Latest food hybrid obsession: Sushi Tacos 🍣 🌮. Because why choose between your two favorite cuisines when you can just have both at the same time 😋. It's a flavourful combination of sweet, savoury and spicy (from adding wasabi) that's going to blow your brains. So good. 💕

#BurppleSushiMonth . This place serves as an affordable quick fix for sushi / sashimi cravings; no fanciful deco, just honest good food! We ordered the must tries: Aburi Chirashi Don (~$25) - those generously thick slices of fish bring mouthful of ocean goodness; Aburi Salmon Sushi ($15.90) - simply satisfies your love for salmon, and Pitan Tofu ($5.90) - strangely sweet century egg atop silky tofu. #burpple

The menu at Little Bastard is succinct, with a list of just 10 dishes to choose from. Dishes are interesting though, with an Asian fusion element in each, and one of our favourites was the Kaeng Phet Mu ($24). Bouncy, tender 14hr sous vide Iberico pork collar with a Thai red curry thick gravy on the side. The flavours of the curry were on point, and were deliciously robust. We proceeded to mop the plate clean with bread even after we'd gobbled up the meat.

Fly Like An Angry Chicken Nasi Lemak consists of ayam masak merah, ikan billis, peanuts, an egg, and cucumber slices served with coconut pandan rice and special sambal chilli.

Ordered a large plate of their signature white bee noon, fried tofu and chicken wings. It's my first time trying and all of Tue dishes is damn good!! Loving their chilli which complements their white bee hoon
