Pasta isn't my typical brunch order but thank goodness we ordered this because this was my favourite dish that morning, just cos of how well cooked and seasoned the pasta noodles were, and taking into consideration that I don't like duck. Perfectly al dente with a right amount of garlic and chilli seasoning to give it that sufficient amount of savoury kick. Also appreciate that apart from that one layer of skin, the duck meat wasn't too fatty. There was also a Char Siew option for a local twist if you are more daring to try.
This is a must visit cafe in Melaka if you are into cafes and that kinda thing. The Daily Fix scores on ambience, coffee and food, but you have to be sure to be there early else be prepared to have to wait. (They open at 830am and thankfully we were there at 840am cos the queue started forming at around 9am) We had to try to much raved Pandan Pancakes with Gula Melaka filling and I wasn't disappointed. The Pancakes weren't stuffed with filling so it wasn't overwhelming sweet but there was a small side of Gula Melaka sauce so you could have it at your preferred sweetness level! A must-try dessert brunch dish and great for sharing with a brunch of friends.
I've heard lots about Lok Lok and I love satay sauce so I was pretty excited to try this out despite all the scares about the generally unhygienic cooking method. (Turns out I was more bothered by the many houseflies instead). We queued for around 20-30 mins which wasn't too bad, and there was always staff who will be checking and stirring the satay pot. Taste-wise, the sauce wasn't what I had expected though; this was a lot more peppery than I would have preferred and I was hoping it was slightly sweeter and smoother.
Stumbled upon this place while driving around the area. Love the humble homely vibe of this place. The seafood pasta was cooked in a garlic butter sauce, rich and filled with a really generous amount of prawns, clams and sausage. The paella was well-cooked and flavourful too; lots of seafood and feels like it'll be a really great comfort food. The pork cheeks were the waiter's recommendations; meat was soft and juicy and had a crispy exterior but personally found it way too fatty for my liking though. Overall, lovely ambience so I'll definitely be back again!
Light, fluffy and airy soufflé, dusted with cocoa powder and powdered sugar. Not sunken in the middle so definitely Gordan Ramsey-approved. Perfect dessert for sharing and to end the meal with. Definitely one on the sweet side, especially with the chocolate sauce dribbled over. There's also a matcha option available so my guess is that would be less sweet!
It's been a while since I last had Japanese curry so yasss. 😋 Ordered the beef omu rice ($16) from their 4th anniversary menu, where there were a lot more other beef/steak options. The beef chunks were nicely braised and tender, and the combination of eggs and tomato rice doused in curry sauce just goes so well. The lobster seafood pasta ($15) was pretty good too, the cream sauce tasted very lobster-ish. Had a late dinner at 8pm but no queues and waiting time for food was around 20 mins so that was pretty decent. Glad Hoshino opened here!
Found a new food gem I see myself going to. Customisable and healthy bento bowls starting from $11.95, with more uncommon and unique options like truffle edamame, roasted chickpeas, sweet potato mash, lava egg. Protein-wise, there was chicken, salmon and tempeh options for vegetarians. Enjoyed my clean yet flavourful lunch! 😋
Today was one of the very rare times I find myself in Changi Village, and felt like having Dim Sum for Sunday's brunch so tried out Le Xuan based on online reviews. Overall, it was ok: decent selections, value for money prices and taste-wise acceptable but nothing wow-ing. I'd probably recommend the crispy char siew buns and hakka yong tau foo.
Had the Katsu Don with egg and miso soup set for $13.90. Good filling portions and definitely value-for-money Japanese food! 👍🏻
I can always come to Hot Tomato for a super value-for-money meal of decent portions. Went for grilled buttered dory that came with a huge wedge of lemon. Nicely cooked but found the crispy edges of the fish way too salty. The pasta was pretty garlicky and flavourful too. I'd say it's worth it for $10.90.
My colourful salad bowl for today: Well-spiced Cajun chicken, corn kernels, carrots, broccoli, alfalfa sprouts and grapes with balsamic olive oil dressing. On a roll with healthy eating. 👏🏻😌
Over so often I miss the taste of wholesome vegetarian food so I'm glad I was introduced here! I had the 5 course meal ($23.80+), starting from the elemen Appetiser, Spinach Salad, Edamame Tofu With Black Truffle Wild Rice, Coconut-infused Jelly with Watermelon Sorbet and Lavender Tea. I'd probably just go for the ala carte mains next time and do without the others which weren't all that impressive imo. Really loved the wild rice mix with yam and chickpeas, and the tofu which had an interesting texture (which I really liked) which made it seem more homemade. Also, liked that the waiter took time to walk us through each component of the appetiser and the order to eat them in. Great service and great ambience! 😌
