Team lunch at Gan Yakitori today. Their set lunches are a pretty good deal; my rice set came with salad, fried fish and chicken side and egg drop soup. Of all the sets, the unagi set and wagyu don set were the most value for money options imo. The unagi was cooked really nicely and served on a base of shredded tamago and rice so presentation points there for sure. βΊ
The sweet red bean paste and the slight bitterness of the matcha powder really compliments each other and can't go wrong in my books. Not stingy on the ingredients too: generous coating of matcha powder and rich flavour of the green tea ice cream (it's not the cheapo artificial-tasting kind). Great dessert for sharing, size-wise and price-wise, considering its $14.90 for a bowl of ice.
Reunion dinner @ θεδΊ¬ι£ε , our usual place with my extended family a week before CNY. My favourite dish of the 10 course set dinner has to be this dish: Tangy broth filled with braised wongbok, beancurd, mushrooms, black fungus and tomatoes. And the grilled fish was excellent; succulent meat and crispy skin.π Of course, always look forward to their star dishes: ε°η¬Όε οΌεδΊ¬η€ιΈοΌand I personally like their broccoli scallops and prawns dish (the seafood is really fresh ππ»)!
I don't normally go for beef options but I was very intrigued by the Japanese-style pasta options here. Opted for the sukiyaki-sauce based pasta topped with thin slices of beef, mushrooms, leeks and a raw egg. The base was on the sweet side and definitely more sweet than savoury, but I quite liked this interesting twist from the usual tomato/cream/evoo styles. Will definitely be back to try the other items here (the omu soufflΓ© yes π).
Thin crust but still bready dough, check. Lots of truffle oil flavour, check. Egg with runny yolk, check. Yup this is my type of pizza for sure. Topped with a reasonable amount of cheese too so it doesn't overwhelm the truffle taste. Portion and price ($20 for a decent size!) is great for sharing between friend/friends. Hehe Brio somehow never disappoints. π
