Delightful French cuisine with a Basque/almost-Spanish touch, ie....extremely flavourful. Living up to its Bar name, good wine list with some great-value, lesser-known wines, although the table of oenologists next to us took advantage of the generous $40 corkage fee to have some impressive bottles: Romanée Conti, Château Haut-Brion, etc. The only disappointing dish in our dinner was dessert, surprisingly not refined and a bit tough. Friendly and professional service.

Nice oasis in orchard road area, much more open than Privé opposite from the crossroads. Long menu and drinks list for a Café. The char kway teow is less good than the one at One Ninety at Four Seasons Hotel, but it’s pretty good. Friendly service staff. If you have Entertainer 1-for-1 deal, it’s excellent value. You should cross the crossroads to have a bite at Crossroads.

Located on the most obscure corner of the most deserted floor of Shaw Centre, Tarte attracts a connoisseur clientèle who appreciate Cheryl Koh’s delicious tartes. After shopping at CK Tang, do come visit CK Tarte!
Gunther’s has been one of our two fav French restos in Singapore ever since it opened. The food is not particularly creative, just very well executed. The overall style of the house is discrete and low-key (except for the purple lights that make it look like a cheap night club). No chi-chi’s here (no amuse bouche, simple plates and cutlery, etc); that’s why they managed to produce an exceptionally good-value set lunch for $38++. Unless you come here every week, don’t miss out on the signature cold angel hair pasta. On our last visit, only one dish disappointed - Japanese wagyu at $190++; it was good, but not worth it and less satisfying than an USDS ribeye at a premier steakhouse. Great policy of free corkage for 2 pax.

The place is often full at lunchtime even on weekdays, and most customers have some kind of discount voucher. The buffet menu is extensive and encompasses almost all Japanese cooking styles - sushi, izakaya, tempura, Shabu Shabu, tonkatsu, etc. Food quality is B-, worse than Sushi Tei but it’s not bad, especially the sashimi. Efficient and friendly service staff; these poor guys are overworked, especially since they have reduced headcount due to Covid. With the Entertainer 1-or-1 discount, the bill is only $54++ for two, so one should not complain. Shin Minori may be in the minor league in terms of food quality, but it won’t break your shin!
