Salted Caramel Coconut Shake I don't usually take salted caramel but wanted to change things up this time, and it worked! The chemistry between the two ingredients was great. Something that stands up against coconut.

Roasted Coconut Shake Surprisingly good. Had the roasted coconut flavour. Will return again for the other flavours. Cocoboss kovan is located in quite a ulu place. The shops here at space@kovan looks very empty on a Sunday lunch time. If not for burrple beyond, I would have known this place even existed. #1for1

1 for 1 cocktails! 3 rose - was totally expecting a Bandung like drink but this was so much better! Not too sweet and just the right amount of floral notes Tequila and mango (forgot the name) - this was quite unique, it’s actually really sour and spicy, so was quite the surprise. But overall still quite yummy. With burpple beyond was very worth!

Mommy issues crepe “Sour and sweet, just like your relationship with mum” Haha that’s what the server told us 😂 hence the name of the crepe. This was actually super delicious. It taste a lot better than it looks. The fruits were fresh, the cream was just right, the dark chocolate and cocoa nibs really shines through, and the crepe was crispy and tasty! Was definitely a pleasant surprise! Will be back again to try their other crepes!

Brulee daddy & e’matcham Love brûlée daddy! Custard filling w caramelized banana so good! Matcha waffle slightly dry, whip cream helps & topped w dried berries

Angel Hair Pasta ($16.90 before Burpple Beyond 1-for-1) As for our 2nd main, we went with their angel hair pasta which featured truffle and ikura. We enjoyed this more than the buta mayonnaise. The pasta was al dente and the truffle notes was nutty and earthy without being overwhelming. Portion though was a little on the small side and ikura was also a little on the more side and was closer to ebiko than ikura!

Buta Mayonnaise ($16.90 before Burpple Beyond 1-for-1) Miss K and I were feeling peckish after spending most of Saturday in the office and were in the mood for an early dinner. A quick search of our options on #BurppleBeyond led us to Yakizen, a homely quiet izakaya located right smack in the heart of the CBD along Circular Road. Their 1-for-1 mains options is rather limited. We decided to check out the intriguing buta mayonnaise which featured pan-fried pork belly with mayonnaise. To be honest, this dish turned out better than expected as the rich creamy mayonnaise paired surprisingly well with the savoury teriyaki sauce. It did get a little too cloy towards the end as we did not pair it with rice. The portions though was rather small and at $16.90++ would be rather overpriced without the #BurppleBeyond deal.

Fried Kway Teow This stall at the coffee shop is particularly popular for their fried oyster and fried kway teow, with people keep coming to make their orders. Their fried kway teow is surprisingly much wetter than most of the stalls outside. Giving it much wok hey taste.

Masala and Naan The prawns are tender and coated in a rich, creamy spiced gravy, while the chicken is bathed in a velvety spiced tomato‑butter sauce that’s full of depth and flavour. Stella Artois A classic pale lager with subtle citrus notes, mild bitterness and a touch of grainy sweetness. Crisp, refreshing and easy to drink.

Feast on authentic North Indian cuisine like their Butter Chicken, a rich and creamy dish bursting with flavours. Dip their garlic and butter naan into that sweet and spicy gravy and wash it down with a cold refreshing beer.

Hanabi Maki This hanabi maki is less dramatic than usual, due to less tenkasu. But it's still my favourite maki here.

Aburi Salmon Miso Maki & Royal Glory Maki My first time trying the one on the right. It uses purple rice, ebi, cucumber, peach and mango sauce.

Buta Shio & Chicken Teriyaki Edible but not their strongest suit.

Worst steak | Avoid Poorly executed steak - ordered a medium but steak doneness was more like medium-rare (service staff / boss couldn't even tell which was the medium steak when we asked - he probably didn't even note to cook this as a medium?) Steak was also tough and chewy, definitely one of the poorer steaks around. Truffles fries had no truffle taste, and mashed potato had a weird texture. Was also told we couldn't use burpple but staff eventually relented when we shared that the app allows it. Was a terrible piece of steak and not worth the calories imo (not even a 1for1 deal will make it platable). Will not return. + saw that the shop has drastically shrank / downsized from its previous 2 storefronts to its small shop now, the quality and attitude of the shop owner is probably the reason why. ++ saw two poor souls who walked in after us and were misled into believing that burpple wasn't available for redemption when it clearly was. And then was sold into paying for a Wagyu flight meal.

Ebi & rosu katsu ($21.90) The tonkotsu was well-executed with tender pork loin (loved that it was lean while still juicy) and juicy prawn. Coated in thin crisp and flaky Panko crust. Choose between classic rice or their healthier ‘brown rice’ which was an enjoyable mix of chewy rice and barley.

Burpple Beyond Set Worth the price (portion is generous). Staff were welcoming ☺️

1f1 tasting portion Tried the lamb ragu and the mentaiko pasta. We chose the pumpkin Pasta with the ragu sauce but we felt another pasta would have went better with the rich sauce. I love the lamb sausage too with the feta. The mentaiko was nice as usual. We also tried the mushroom soup but it was pretty mid. Very worth work burpple deal!

Tiramisu ($8.90) Small and it was served just in a small container. The alcohol taste was quite strong and the mascarpone was sweet and creamy, but we couldn’t really taste the coffee in it. All in all, average and not memorable.

Ragu ($25.90) with Beetroot Lunghi I thought this would look better but the aesthetic was a bit lacking. The portion was also small and the beef was tough. The beef cubes were flavourful, but very tough (full of tendons that were very tough to bite). The sauce for this was quite watery too and didn’t stick to the beetroot Lunghi well.
