The Halibut fish & chips ($26++) was not available when we went, so I had the Grouper ($32++) that day. The fish is fresh and flakes nicely. Love that they battered the fish thinly so that I could enjoy the flesh of the fish more. Sweet potato fries are a nice surprise and I would very much rather swop all my potato fries with those! Price is quite expensive but for the ambience and quality, it’s pretty worth it 😃
Chicken chop with mushroom sauce ($5.50)
Serving of chicken used to be a much bigger portion but has shrunk over the years. Crinkle fries have a nice crunch but are super salty. Coleslaw is good as always. A small serving like this will probably not fill up most people, so be prepared to have more food after you have finished this or go hungry!
This is supposedly their signature dessert and highly recommended by the boss. The molten chocolate is indeed rich and on the bitter side which I enjoyed. However at this price point, I would expect the serving to be slightly bigger. Will probably skip this and try their cakes next time.
The laksa pasta ($12.90++) is SO GOOD. Is it strange to say that when I crave for laksa, I would think of having the laksa pasta here? Every strand of linguine is well coated with laksa paste which made the dish super flavourful. The fried tau pok gave it an extra crunch which is nice ☺️
The boss is super friendly and genuine too - we wanted to do takeaway as the cafe was crowded and didn’t want to wait. He told us that he rather not sell us the food by takeaway as it will not taste as good. In the end we stayed in the queue and he managed to give us a table after a 10min wait. Highly recommend to dine here 👍🏻
Dropped by for some coffee and we ordered flat white ($4.90++) and mocha ($5.50++). Both coffees are great, I prefer the mocha slightly more ☺️ The staff was friendly too, he served us the coffee and said “I made a heart for you and a swan for you” 😄 We came at 2+pm on a weekday and the place was bustling with folks having brunch and desserts. Will be back to try their food!
I usually go for the original Takagi Ramen but decided to go for the spicy Karakamen ($8.50 with egg) for a change. Not a good choice as it’s mad spicy! 🥵🥵 For someone who doesn’t take spice very well, I could feel myself choking at the heat as I tried to eat the noodles. My friend ordered Black Tonkotsu ($8.90 with egg) and felt that the garlicky taste could be stronger, but still a decent bowl of ramen for a quick fix!
Don’t be deceived by the small pan, this can easily satisfy one’s tummy with the plump sausage and roasted potatoes. Cabbage is a bit too acidic for my liking, will need to pair it with the potatoes for a balanced flavour.
Eleven Strands is a cosy cafe found in a quiet neighbourhood - great for getting away from the busyness and to enjoy some delish food. Utilised the burpple beyond 1-for-1 deal and it’s so worth it! The salmon was perfectly cooked and I enjoyed the bed of roasted potatoes. My boyfriend ordered the braised beef cheek ($25++) and felt that it was a tad too salty. Overall a decent dining experience.
Chanced upon this little shop at basement of Marina One and decided to check out the Thai food here. The serving of basil pork is very generous but it tasted extremely spicy, even for my colleague who takes spice well. Appreciate that the sunny side up was done well and that some veg was given to cool off the heat. Recommend to order this dish with a drink to make it easier on the palate.
Malaysia boleh is a nightmare during peak hours - it is always swarmed with both diners and people camping by the tables to secure one. Ordered the claypot chicken rice and expected the “crusty bits” at the bottom, but there was none. The salted fish could have been given more generously to balance the sweet tasting chicken. Coupled with the long waiting time at this stall, I will probably not return unless I’m seriously craving for some chicken and sausage on white rice.
Pancakes are soft and fluffy and are great with maple syrup. The cream is not too sweet, so most people might be able to polish the entire plate off without feeling too sick / “jelat”. A safe option to choose from the plethora of desserts on the menu 👍🏻
Tamago-en is such a cute place to have a meal or dessert! I enjoyed this version of panna cotta, loved the black sesame taste which isn’t too sweet and pairs well with the chocolate sauce. It’s a delightful dessert 😌
