Birthday Freebies 🎂
Next up is @mr.coconutsg ! You can get one free drink (any size) or ice cream / yoghurt as long as you sign up for their free membership! Just type in your mobile number at the self ordering kiosk to order and claim! Redeemable in your birthday month! (Do note toppings for drinks are chargeable. My favourite drink to claim is the avocado coconut shake!)
Another one of my must claim birthday freebies is SOUP SPOON!
It used to be a free $5 voucher with no minimum spending, but now there is a required minimum spending of $15 in order to redeem the voucher.
The free $5 birthday voucher can be used for dining in or takeaway. To order, you will need to either order from the mobile app and apply the birthday voucher, or use the kiosk and scan your mobile app e-card.
If you do not wish to order a heavy filling set, best to get a dining buddy along to order 2 ala carte soups!
My favourite soup is the VELVETY MUSHROOM STROGANOFF ($9.10)! Always order this soup 75% of the times! (The other times I will opt for the boston clam chowder soup for the SG Chicken & Mushroom Ragout.)
This time round, decided to be adventurous, and got the new souperchef special Chicken Cacciatore with Portobello and Sage ($9.50)! The only difference between this and SG Chicken and Mushroom Ragout is that the latter has some pasta in it.
But still, all time favourite mushroom soup triumphs!
Second time eating at Chic-a-boo!
Got the 2 piece chicken set ($9.80) and 1pc chicken 1 pc fried fish set ($9.80). Both set comes with a choice of 1 soft drinks and 2 side dishes! Picked sweet potato fries, curly fries and onion ring!
Having tried both flavours, I hereby declare that I prefer the hot and spicy flavour for the chicken! Their fried fish also taste almost like long john silver's, but theirs is more fried and more chaotah brown!
Very filling meal and at an affordable price point!
Finally visited iO Italian Osteria!
Funny story behind this visit. My colleague recommended me to check out this place more than 4 years ago! I have been bookmarking this restaurant for the LONGEST time! Have made many chope reservations and then cancelling it because the location was kinda out of the way! Finally after so many years of procrastination, FINALLY visited this place! Luckily we made a chope booking reservation before heading down, because it was so crowded, even on a weekday lunch timing!
Here is what we ordered, most are the best seller recommended dishes:
-Traditional Stuffed Roman Schiacciatta with truffle ($10 for small size) - This was the highly anticipated food item! While it was good, it did not blow my mind
-Orecchiette Pork sausage with saffron sauce ($19) - We were puzzled when this dish was served as the minced pork was not very visible. But quite a nice dish as it is pretty unique
-Home made Tagliolini with Prawns, Asparagus, Lemon and Aromatic Breadcrumbs ($22): Opps, this was our least liked dish. The small portion size served caught us by surprise. LOL
-Pistachio Tiramisu ($14): I am not typically a tiramisu lover, but PISTACHIO lover I am, hence we got it to try! It was good!

Found a little gem in Yu Hua!
Checked out Han n Han Peanut Pancake! They specialize in crispy meng jeng kueh here! They also serve other morning breakfast dishes items like toast, french toast and curry puff!
Here is what I ordered:
-Set A ($4.50): Comes with Coffee/Tea, Traditional Toast + Soft boiled Egg
-Curry Puff ($1.80): Super love the buttery crispy curry puff crust!
-Crispy Peanut Pancake ($1.20): Was surprised when this was served. It is the huge piece and super crispy kind!!
-Iced Honey Lemon ($2.70)
A nice place to bring your old folks here, we saw many older-aged group customers and family groups here! Seems to be v popular with the neighbourhood here!

Rarely do I see korean jjajang myeon sold in hawker centre/coffeeshop, and this was done right!
Slurpy chewy yellow noodles, with flavourful black sauce! I liked that they used minced meat here, good for ppl like me who do not like super fatty pork meat!

Overeat on good food at @overeatsg !
Overeat is the sister outlet of The Three Peacocks @ Labrador Park! Overall, I enjoy this place much more as it is in a comfortable air con seating environment!
This is a very value for money buffet! You get to enjoy hotpot, grilled meat, cooked food, fried food snacks, sushi, sashimi and fresh oysters, pizza, salad and fruit bar, cakes, drinks and ice cream!
For the hotpot food selection, you can choose from the 3 soups offered - mala, sukiya or miso soup! There is also a wide variety of hotpot food ingredients - mushrooms, corn, veg, sliced fish, prawn, clams, scallops, shabu shabu meat, balls, sausage, seaweed chicken etc! So many choices! You can even head to the condiment bar to make your own chilli sauce dip!
For the cooked food selection there is LAKSA NOODLES, as well as chilli crab sauce with mantou! Don't miss out on the truffle mushroom soup as well, which I totally love!
End off the meal with some sweet treats - cheesecake, swissrolls, cakes, eclairs, cream puffs, and ice cream!
I used to eat @onceuponathymesg almost once every 2-3 weeks in the pasta! But now the prices have risen so much such that I only eat it once in a blue moon!
Decided to give myself a good treat and got the spicy meatball penne pasta ($11)! Now the ordering is via the self ordering kiosk and you can choose your pasta - linguine or penne, as well as spicy level - no spicy, spicy, extra spicy!
But somehow it tastes slightly different from what I recall it to be. The pasta was not as hot/warm when served even though I has collected the order immediately when it was ready.. the sauce was also not as shiok as before (or maybe I need to get extra spicy level)? And the spicy tomato cream sauce today looked like it wasnt quite mixed well with blobs of white still seen around
Finally trying the HAPPY BOX ($62) from Elijah Pies!
A Happy Box Dessert Pies Tart as my birthday cake! (Yes, I am more of a TART person than cake person!)
8 different signature flavours all in one box so you can enjoy the best of all world with your family and friends! My family actually separated out each tart into equal portions so that we can try all 8 flavours!
So here, I present to you my order ranking of the dessert pies according to my taste preference:
-Honey Chrysanthemum: This was my TOP favourite! It was so so good! Had it as the first piece, and up until the last piece, I still cant get over how good this tart was! Fragrant chrysanthemum, naturally sweet with honey undertones.
-Yuzu Meringue: My second favourite! Zesty curd with yuzu juice infused, and topped with lightly torched meringue kisses.
-Wild Berry Lavender: This was the pie which attracted me to elijah pies years ago (yes, i have been eyeing elijah pies for a few years now before I finally tried it this year, twice somemore HAHA)! I was initially afraid that the lavender taste will be too strong, hence I did not dare to buy one whole pie itself! Having eaten just one slice, it was the right balance! As it has real berries in it with yoghurt, there was a fruity taste, which balanced out the very subtle lavender hint. So this is actually quite good!
-Speculoos Hojicha: Two of my favourite ingredients all in one!
-Lime Thyme: This was slightly too sour for my liking!
-Nutella: This was unlike the typical sweet nutella, as this was mixed with dark chocolate! Hence, if you are not a dark chocolate fan, this is not for you too!
-Matcha Latte: When I got my box of elijah pies earlier, I spent a long time deciding between Matcha Latte and Speculoos Hojicha (but eventually went for speculoos hojicha)! So happy to finally try this now! Hehe, and luckily for me, the verdict that was out was that I didnt fancy this matcha latte pie! Didnt fancy the meringue pearls layer, and I thought the matcha custard didnt have a strong enough matcha taste
-Raspberry Ripple: I am sorry but this was my least liked tart of all (surprisingly)! While it was the top favourite of some of my family members. This consists of cream cheese with raspberry compote and topped with pistachio. For me, the cream cheese layer was way too thick to my liking, and I dont really fancy creamy tart/cake!
If I will to buy Elijah Pies again, it will be one whole honey chrysanthemum pie!!
Wanted to get this happy box a few months ago, but it was a seasonal item that was not sold all the time, hence when we saw it a few days ago, we immediately carted it out! It is still available now, so act fast!
Tried one of the newly opened stalls here! Hotplate spicy chicken from the korean food stall was good! Large portions!
