Second time eating Koung’s Wan Tan Noodles! It tastes different from what I remembered it to be. It didnt leave a superb good impression on me the first time I ate it. After the second visit this time, my conclusion remains the same. It tastes quite pretty average?? Just that the char siew is charcoal roasted so got more taste than the normal wanton noodles. The chilli sauce is super duper spicy though. I didnt mix in all the chilli and I couldnt take it already. The chilli sauce also doesnt taste as good as Hoe Kee.
Who else always get cravings for chicken chop when at hawker centre? I always get such cravings😂🤣
Decided to give this western stall - Yuan Xiang Western Food 01-67 a try! Got the chicken chop which was priced at $7. Comes with the usual fixed sides such as fries, salad, baked beans and toasted bun.
At the first bite of the chicken chop, i got the taste of lamb and i really do not like the taste/smell of lamb!🤢 most likely the order before mine was a lamb chop. Lol made a mental note to myself to never order from a western stall ever again if they sell lamb chop 😂
Luckily there were still some parts of the chicken meat on the other side that did not have a strong lamb taste.
Thought the amount of fried given was quite little too?
Back with another Thai Baang Bread!
Got the Mochi Yam Floss this time! 1 box for $3.50! This bread consist of yam paste with chicken floss and chewy mochi! All 3 star ingredients all together! Enjoyed this alot!
Finally gave Hoe Kee Wanton Noodle a try!
There are a few stalls of Wanton Noodle at Aljunied Market, but half of them sell the alkaline sticky kind of wanton noodles that I detest. Decided to give Hoe Kee Wanton Noodle a try this time round and was surprised to find out that their version is the springy qq kind which i LOVE!
I also like lean meat char siew, so this was right up my alley. The special thing here seems to be the chilli sauce which seems to have ikan bilis mixed into it, so it was really tasty! The chilli is SUPER spicy though, so be warned! Do not mix in more chilli as they already gave some chilli which is at the bottom of the noodles on the plate!
The queue wait was around 20+ mins on a weekday lunch timing! (Because there are loyal customer "queue cutters" tsktsk. this is something that i dislike for long queue hawker stalls. makes me angst when i see others being able to cut queue without even queueing!)
Location: 117 Aljunied Ave 2, #01-22, Singapore 380117
Bought @donkisg cream puffs as they were on sale! 1 for $4.90 and 2nd box for $1! Got the original vanilla and strawberry flavours this time!
(The last time when i bought it was at price of 2 for $8.80!)
Another Hong Kong style egg tarts to try in Singapore - Hong Kong Day!
They have a takeaway counter for their bolo buns ($2.50) and egg tarts ($2). Mouth was feeling itchy after a meal so decided to get some egg tarts for snack!
Loved the buttery crust and smooth egg custard!
The price is also pretty reasonable as compared to the other Hong Kong Egg Tarts brand out there!
I finally tried Little Caesars Pizza only after they moved further away from my house and price increased LOL
Got the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Pizza ($17.50) which is good for 2-3 pax! It was actually too much for 2 pax and I had to keep a slice for next day's meal! As for the pizza, it was made to order, so there is some wait time. Howewer, I am not really a fan of their pizza crust dough, it was too thick and chewy for me, almost like a bread! Still prefer thin crust pizza! Was surprised to see pineapples on the pizza actually (as their menu photo werent really clear, and almost wanted to change order to the Hula Hawaiian just to get the pineapples haha)
Have been eating a lot of Thai Baang bread ever since they opened a outlet at Singpost Centre!
Love their tin bread!
This is the Tom Yum Chicken and Black Pepper chicken one! Be warned that the tom yum chicken one is QUITEEE spicy! But super shiok to eat at the same time! If you cant take spice well, get the black pepper chicken bun instead!
Each bread was $2.40. Quite pricey, but it is soo much better than the MRT kind of bread stalls..
Bugis has a new dessert option!
Have walked past Jane Deer Desserts many times before we finally decided to try it! Arrived on Friday at past 9pm timing and the place was soooo crowded! They have aircon seats on level 2 too, so head upstairs if they are full on level 1!
Here is what we ordered:
-The Claw Taro Bowl ($9.80): Ordered this because of the cute bear claw (and because I decided not to get the "The Bath Teddy Bear" as that contains red beans which I am not a super huge lover of). Kind of surprised by the size of the dessert when it was served. Initially I also thought the yellow cubes were fresh mango cubes, but they turn out to be mango pudding LOL! This dessert had more jelly than what I expected would have preferred more fruits). The only fruit here was rockmelon, which I thought was kinda weird as an addition to a dessert bowl as the texture was different. Loved the huge scoop of taro paste though! The cute claw is milk pudding!
-Chilled Mango Sago Cream with Pomelo ($6.80): For a less fanciful foolproof dessert choice, we opted for this! This tastes good! (but boring choice la haha)
First time at Sin Heng Claypot Bak Koot Teh, even though I have walked down Joo Chiat Road so many times for my entire life!
Saw some crowd at this food place so we decided to give it a go!
What we ordered:
-Bak Kut Teh (medium for $15)
-White Rice ($1): We wanted yam rice initially, but it was already sold out
-You Tiao ($2.50)
-Lime withe Prune Drink ($2)
The bak kut teh soup was a dark brown colour, however the tastes is not the herbal kind, but more of the pepperish kind, quite similar to songfa bkt i must say! The soups here are also refillable, and they give so much at one go (so much more than song fa)! Enjoyed the meal here!
Super long since I last had Yakun!
My favourite items here are the Kaya Butter Toasted Bread and Iced Lemon Tea!
crispy buttery kaya bread!
-$5.60 for a set (with hot coffee/tea with half boiled eggs)
-$2.60 for ala carte bread
-$3 for iced lemon tea
