Second revisit to Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle at 466 Crawford Lane!
We passed by this stall at around 5pm on a saturday and the queues were quite long (around 10 ppl in queue)? But when we went back again at almost 7pm, there was only 2 ppl in the queue! So because the queue was shorter, I had doubts about the food standards HAHA.
But ok, the noodles still turn out to be pretty good. The Mee pok was chewy and springy. Love that there is not only bak chor, but has pork balls and boiled wantons too! (I dont eat the pork innards and the fried zha bian yu thing) My only gripe (same as the previous trip) was that their noodles sauce mixture has too heavy a vinegar taste, and I don’t really fancy it.
The noodle bowls price range from $6, $8 and $10; and with the $8 bowl being labelled as “regular”. But don’t be fooled by it, as the $6 portion is more than enough! The photo here is for the $6 portion. It has enough portion to make you full like any other normal bakchormee portions you can get in other stalls.
Recommend to eat this only if the queue is not too long! (The last time when they first got popular, and before they got the One MICHELIN Star status, we queued in line for almost one hour!!)
Grilled chicken from @nandossg !
Nando’s is well known for its signature chicken which are freshly grilled to order, so you get your chicken piping hot, as well as their signature PERi-PERi chilli sauce! Spice things up with their unique Nando’s breed of African Bird’s Eye chilli, which is mixed with a blend of fresh lemon, garlic, onions, oil and herbs!
Nandos has also recently created a new build YOUR own bowl menu! This menu was created specially for Singapore with local flavours and asian favourites! You can customise the mains and sides according to your specific preferences and budget!
Featured here are the following items:
Build YOUR own bowl ($14.90 + 2 or 3 sides)
PERi-PERi noodles (mee tai mak with laksa coconut sauce)
+ Two Boneless Thighs (mild sauce)
+ Cheese Crisp (+$1)
+ fried tofu (+$1)
+ grilled portobello mushrooms (+$3)
PERi-PERi Chicken Boneless thigh (hot sauce) ($16.90)
+ peri peri chips
+peri peri wedges
Pink Pine ($5.50): Pineapple, sprite and grapefruit juice!
Cheeky Cherry ($5.50): Cherry, pomegranate and orange juice!
For my last visit, I had tried the Mild and Lemon & herb sauce. Got braver this time round and we went for the HOT and MILD sauce! After training up my chilli tolerance level, the HOT sauce was tolerable for me!
I love how the chicken was grilled to perfection, very juicy and flavourful, wasnt dry at all! Overall, a very enjoyable meal! Their prices are affordable, and they are at nett pricing with no additional service charge!
Fusion Chinese Indian Food from @copperchimneysg !
Established in 2012, Copper Chimney has its flagship shop at 100 Syed Alwi Road, at Little India Area. Besides the Little India restaurant, they also have an express outlet Asia Square.
They have a wide range of menu choices! So many items till it took us a long while before we narrowed down on what to order.
Butter chicken is my must order food whenever at Indian Food Places! This butter chicken ($18++) had enough portions for 2 pax! There were huge chunks of chicken meat. The butter chicken sauce was rich, creamy and with a slight smokey taste. Do get the garlic naan ($5++) or butter naan ($4.50++) to mop up all the sauces! Each portion of naan comes with 2 pieces.
Also tried something new and got the Steamed Chicken Momo (5 pcs for $15.90++). Steamed momos are meat filled dumplings! Each momo has a generous portion of minced meat!! A side chilli sauce dip is also given for the momos!
The ambience of this place was good, very modern and inviting. Food tasted great too! Do check this place out if you will like to eat some North Indian and Indian Chinese fusion food! The place is halal certified too!
Rooftop garden korean food dining experience at @pinkcandy.sg !
They are part of the hawker centre, so you will have to stand around and hover over ppl who are about to leave to get your seats.
Besides the nice al fresco dining vibes with nice sunset view, I was pleasantly surprised by the food! I had actually lowered my expectations because I read some negative/average reviews for some particular items.
Ginseng Chicken Noodle Soup ($29.90): This contains half a chicken, and is good for 2-3 pax! We were actually quite surprised that there was UDON noodles in it! (Because the signboard was blocked by the bowls so we thought it was only ginseng chicken soup lol!) The soup contained tender soft chicken, dumplings, mushrooms, Tteok-bokki and beancurd! Oh, we were also surprised that it was served hot pot style! We thought it would just be in a stainless steel bowl. The hot pot style serving kept the soup pipping hot, so it was super delicious!
Seafood tofu soup ($12.90): This came with 2-3 fresh prawns, soft jiggly tofu, some clams and squid! The Sundubu-jjigae soup base was so good! This comes with a bowl of irce
Soy Sauce Chicken Wings ($14.90): 9 pieces, but they actually mean 4.5 wings if you get what i mean. This was quite nice, crispy batter and just at the right marination! (This was so much better than some other chicken wings from a famed korean stall in the aljunied mrt area which had thick batter that felt like it was refried many times!)
The bill amounted up to almost $60 for a 4 pax portion (plus additional order of 2 plain rice). If there is only one things that you can order, I will strongly recommend to try the ginseng chicken noodle soup stew!!
They also advertise themselves as serving korea homemade style food with NO MSG! Which I turned out to be quite true, as we were not super thirsty after the meal!

This stall is located at Chinatown Complex Food Centre 02-096 ! We were making a point to try out a different new stall at this hawker from what we had previously, so food blogger listings brought us to this page! And we were not disappointed!
Got the char siew chee cheong fan ($4), which came with small bits of charsiew. The chee cheong rice batter is house-milled! Was very intrigued by how the chee cheong fans had soooo many wrinkly folds (while typical chee cheong fan at other dim sum stalls are smooth). But turns out, these wrinkly chee cheong fans were very silky, springy and smooth to eat! The soy sauce mixture, that is topped with shallot oil, was also very good! This Chee Cheong Fan also came along with a side of spicy chilli sauce, which was pretty interesting to eat together, but may get too spicy for some!
If you are thinking of dabao-ing this back home to eat, I read that the chef created a chee cheong fan recipe that allows one to takeaway home and still have these soft and springy chee cheong fun”.
We also tried their pork and century eggs congee ($4.50): This came with sliced pork, pork balls and century eggs. What is different is that instead of coming with the usual crispy youtiao, it was topped with fried cracker pillows (the kind you will find in lohei) for the crispy crunch! The porridge was very smooth and tasted very healthy! I especially liked their pork balls, which was marinated pretty well! I wished there was just a pork ball porridge option!
Between the two, I prefer the chee cheong fan over the porridge! It is soo good that I will want to be back to eat it again!
Vietnamese food from Little Vietnam Restaurant at Guillemard Road!
This is my second revisit after almost 10 years! They have a super extensive menu! But the below items are our typical orders at any vietnamese restaurant:
Pho Ga (chicken meat with flat noodles) ($6.50): Chicken pho is my favourite! Enjoyed this soup very much! It is more of the herbal kind of soup instead of the peppery kind. But the chicken meat was thick cut and kinda tough.
Bun Thit Nuong (grilled pork chop on fresh vegetables and rice vermicelli) ($7.50): One serving of the buncha vermicelli sauce was not enough and we asked for a second serving! The grilled pork chop was nice, but overall this dish was slightly dry for me. Would also have preferred if they have a bun cha bowl that has both grilled porkchop and some fried spring rolls! Best combination!

Finalled tried SUKIYA! They opened another outlet at Square 2 a few months ago, and I finally paid a visit! The queue on a weekday lunch early 12+pm timing was still moderately alright. Around 10 ppl infront of us, and the queue did move quite fast! This is because they only allow a 30 mins dining in time!
The food was also served pretty fast, japanese standard!
In case you do not eat beef like me, they do have alot of chicken and unagi options as well! For chicken, there is charcoal grilled yakitori or fried chicken karage. Was trying to avoid fried food, hence I opted for the Half Boiled Egg Yakitori Bowl ($6.90 for medium bowl; price is nett)!
Was quite surprised when the egg was served still in its shell. Thought that it would be cracked into the bowl nicely for us. But cracking the egg by yourself enhanced the experience for me LOL!
Initially thought that the chicken portions were too little, but it turned out to be just right if you ration out your rice with chicken portions nicely.
Do ask the staff for chilli powder if you need it! I have no idea why they dont just place it on every table for use though.
I was also quite pleasantly surprised that the complimentary water served was not plain water, but a warm 麦茶(mugi-cha; barley tea)! Really completes the experience!
Felt transported to Japan for the quick 30mins lunch! Recommend to give this place a try, if the queues are not too long!

Featured here are the following food items:
Kra Pow Chicken Rice: Stir how ried minced chicken with fluffy steamed jasmine rice. I love how the spicyness level was just right, not overly spicy. Enough sauce was given too! Comfort food!
Pad Thai: This is the classic phad thai dish with sliced chicken and egg! I love how the pad thai still tasted good and was springy even though it was a takeaway order.
Creamy Tomyum Springy Noodle: This tom yum soup is hot and sour! Made with the perfect blend of aromatic herbs and spices. Crispy golden wanton skin is also given to top off the noodles! For takeaway orders, the noodles and crispy golden wanton skins are all separately packed!
Flame Grilled Ayam Legend: For this dish, a marinated and seasoned chicken thigh is grilled to perfection! Very juicy and tender! Do remember to dip it with the chilli sauce provided, it was a super good combination!
Fried Chicken Skin:For the once in a while indulgence, do try this crispy chicken skin! It was super flavourful, and it reminded me of KFC chicken! Love the marination used for the fried chicken skin!
Hot Steamy Sangkayaa:this is my FAVOURITE food item to get whenever I am in Thailand. And I am glad to be able to enjoy this in Singapore too! The bread was soft and fluffy! Super love the luscious kaya dip that is coconut and fragrant! I only wish there were more kaya dip option choices like those in Thailand :P
Cha yen and Cha Keow Yen: All thai meals aren’t complete if you don't get a iced thai tea! I like how the sweetness level was just right, and it was not super diluted!
